Manchester United: Michael Carrick to bring in Steve Holland on staff

Manchester United have appointed Michael Carrick as their interim head coach, with Steve Holland set to be his assistant manager. The 44-year-old former England midfielder will oversee the team for the remainder of the season, with an announcement expected once all necessary paperwork has been signed.

Carrick was a key player in the United dressing room during his playing career and held talks with club officials last week, impressing chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox. He is expected to implement a 4-2-3-1 system, moving away from the three-at-the-back set-up employed by sacked manager Ruben Amorim.

Steve Holland, 55, brings significant experience having worked under Gareth Southgate as England's assistant manager, including a stint at Euro 2020. He will be Carrick's right-hand man and provide a cool head in the high-pressure environment of Old Trafford.

Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, and Travis Binnion are also part of Carrick's coaching staff, with Woodgate having worked under Carrick at Middlesbrough and Evans returning to Old Trafford after two years away.

Yooo, big change comin' 2 Man Utd ๐Ÿš€! They need a win in a hurry now, so I gotta give it 2 them. Michael Carrick's experience as a player & gaffer's gonna help 'em get back on track. Steve Holland's assistant manager gig is gonna bring some stability & calmness to the team. I'm hyped 2 see how they set up the pitch w/ that new 4-2-3-1 system ๐ŸŸ๏ธ! Travis Binnion's addition's a nice touch, he worked under Carrick at Middlesbrough, so that's some good vibes ๐Ÿ’ก! Can't wait 2 see what this team's got!

So, what's going on with Man U is anyone else surprised they went straight for a caretaker? I mean, I get it, they need stability but 44 is still pretty young for a full-time job, right? And what about some youth coming up through the ranks? They've got some decent talent in the academy, so hopefully they'll be able to give the youngsters some game time.

I'm more excited about Steve Holland being appointed as assistant though. He's got loads of experience and I love that he's not just a yes-man, he's been working with Gareth Southgate for years, so I think he'll bring a bit of sanity to the backroom staff ๐Ÿค”. And let's be real, if anyone can get the best out of the squad at Old Trafford, it's Michael Carrick - he was always one of those players who just seemed to get on with everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š

just what man utd needed ๐Ÿ˜ a new interim head coach. hopefully carrick can turn things around. his playing days should help him connect with the team, but experience is key here. 4-2-3-1 system might be a decent change of pace. holland's got some big boots to fill as assistant manager tho ๐Ÿ‘€

omg what's going on in manchester united ๐Ÿค” i dont think they've ever had a coach that was actually good at the game before lol carrick is like 44 yrs old tho who plays football when you're that old? and steve holland sounds super important but who is he anyway? did england win euro 2020 tho? ๐Ÿ†

im not sure about this move, michael carrick has been in the man u dugout for like 10 mins lol what does he know about managing a team ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚ but maybe its a good idea having steve holland by his side tho he seems experienced enough to help carrick out. also i wonder if they'll be able to turn things around now that they're not playing with 3 centre backs anymore ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ‘€

I think this is a total game-changer for Manchester United... nope, actually I'm not so sure. I mean, who wouldn't want Michael Carrick as the interim head coach? He's a legend and all that. But at the same time, can he really turn the team around from here? It feels like too much of a long shot to me ๐Ÿค”. And what about Steve Holland, is he just there to pacify everyone or does he bring some real expertise? I'm on the fence about this one... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg, this is gonna be so interesting to watch ๐Ÿค” Carrick's got some big shoes to fill, but I think he's up for the challenge! 4-2-3-1 system? Bring it on! ๐Ÿ† And can we talk about how cool it is that Steve Holland is coming aboard? Euro 2020 experience and all that... gotta be a breath of fresh air after Amorim's mess ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm kinda hyped for this new era at United, even if it means watching some old guys run around on the pitch ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Evans and Woodgate should bring some nostalgia to the team! What do you guys think about Carrick's appointment? Should he be the permanent head coach or just stick to the interim role? ๐Ÿค”

I think it's a pretty decent move by Manchester United to go for Michael Carrick as the interim head coach ๐Ÿค”. He's got a deep understanding of the game and the club, which should help him get things sorted out on the pitch. Plus, having Steve Holland by his side is a bonus โ€“ they make a great team (no pun intended ๐Ÿ˜…). It's about time United made a change after that disastrous stint under Amorim... let's hope Carrick can bring some stability and a bit of flair back to Old Trafford ๐ŸŸ๏ธ. I'm intrigued to see how he sets up the team, maybe that 4-2-3-1 system will be just what they need to get back on track ๐Ÿ”„. Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ‘

Omg, like what a dream come true for Man U fans!! ๐Ÿคฉ Michael Carrick is back! He was literally the heartbeat of the team when he played, so I'm hyped to see him in charge now. The 4-2-3-1 system sounds like it could be super effective too, we've seen that kind of thing work for England under Gareth Southgate ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

And omg Steve Holland is an amazing assistant! He's got loads of experience and has worked with the best. I'm sure he'll be a great help to Carrick. And it's so cool that Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans are joining the coaching staff, they've both been part of the Man U squad before ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿค” just hope carrick can turn things around for man u, been following this team since i was a kid and its been a rollercoaster ride ๐Ÿ˜ฉ but idk if they made the right call with holland, hes experienced but not exactly known for being super tactically clever ๐Ÿค“ still got faith in carrick tho, he was always one of the level heads on the pitch during his playing days ๐Ÿ‘

Yooo, just saw that Manchester United appointed Michael Carrick as their new interim head coach ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฎ! Finally, they got someone who knows what's up about the team. I mean, Ruben Amorim was straight trash for months now, and it's about time they brought in some experience. 4-2-3-1 is gonna be fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ, can't wait to see them dismantle some teams this season! Steve Holland seems like a solid choice as assistant manager too ๐Ÿ‘Œ, at least he's got some Euro 2020 experience under his belt ๐Ÿ’ช. Now let's hope Carrick doesn't mess it up ๐Ÿ˜…

Ugh, I'm so stoked they're gonna try out a 4-2-3-1 system ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... like that's ever gonna work for United! They need someone with more experience at the top level and not just some veteran coach who's been around the block. And what about the players? Are they really gonna stick with Woodgate as part of Carrick's coaching staff? That dude was rubbish on the pitch, I don't see how he's gonna help them win. ๐Ÿค” The only thing that matters is results, and if Carrick can't get some wins under his belt, then he's outta there ๐Ÿ’ธ

omg i just love football like who else is hyped for man united now?? i heard carrick was really good at the game when he played lol what system did amorim use that didn't work out?? and what's with old trafford being so high pressure?? does it get to be that intense in real life or is it just the fans screaming everywhere??

I'm kinda surprised they went for Michael Carrick ๐Ÿค”... I mean, he's a legend, but is he really the right fit for this job? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I know some people are saying he's got experience and knows what it takes to be at United, but I've also heard he can come across as pretty rigid in his playing days, which might not be great for adapting to the modern game โšฝ๏ธ. And what about Steve Holland? He seems like a solid choice, but will he be able to provide enough influence over Carrick's decision-making? ๐Ÿค” I'm still on the fence about this one... ๐ŸŽฏ

I just hope Manchester United can turn things around under Michael Carrick... it's a bit like when life hits you with unexpected twists, you gotta roll with the punches ๐Ÿคฏ! Think about it, if they had stuck with Ruben Amorim's system, things might've gone even more sour. At least this change brings in some fresh perspectives & experience from Steve Holland, who's been around the block a few times ๐Ÿ‘. It's all about adapting to the situation & making the most of what you've got.

Man, I feel like this is a perfect example of how experience can pay off ๐Ÿ™Œ. You got this seasoned coach Michael Carrick stepping in as interim head coach, and it's not just because he played for Manchester United back in the day ๐Ÿ˜‚. It's because he's got the chops to turn things around and make some much-needed changes to the team's strategy.

And you know what really impresses me? The fact that Steve Holland is on board as his assistant manager ๐Ÿค. This guy's been around the block a few times, working with some of the best coaches in the game, and he's got the calm and collected vibe that's exactly what Manchester United needs right now ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

It's also interesting to see how this new setup might shake things up for the team. I mean, moving away from that 3-at-the-back system and going back to a more traditional 4-2-3-1? It's like they're saying, "You know what, let's go back to basics and see if we can't get this ship turned around" ๐Ÿ’ช. And hey, it's worth a shot, right?

so carrick is in ๐Ÿคž think it's a good move for the team, but let's see how he does, i mean, they've had some issues on the pitch lately and you can't just turn things around overnight. 4-2-3-1 might be an interesting change, but we'll have to wait and see if it pays off ๐Ÿค”. holland's experience is a plus, i guess, but what about the youth development? they've been struggling with that for ages... anyway, at least there's some stability now ๐Ÿ˜Š
