Manual Cinema’s Christmas Carol

Manual Cinema Brings A New Twists to 'A Christmas Carol'

In a dazzling display of creativity, Manual Cinema has reimagined Charles Dickens' classic tale 'A Christmas Carol' into an immersive, one-of-a-kind production that's equal parts puppet show, cinematic experience, and holiday spectacle.

For this year's iteration, the company's director has given the task to avowed holiday skeptic Aunt Trudy to carry on her late husband Joe's tradition of spreading Christmas cheer. What unfolds is a heartwarming story of love, loss, and redemption as Trudy reconstructs Joe's annual Christmas Carol puppet show over a Zoom call with her family, who are celebrating from afar.

As the story progresses, the puppets become an integral part of the narrative, taking on lives of their own in a breathtaking reimagining that defies convention. This is a production where every detail, from the hundreds of handmade puppets to the live music and immersive sound design, comes together to create a truly unforgettable experience.

The show runs at the Studebaker Theater this holiday season, offering multiple show times from December 12th through 28th.

Ugh, can't they just stream it on YouTube like everyone else? Why do I have to scroll around their website just to find the info 🤯📺. And what's up with the weird ticketing system? You gotta buy individual showtimes? Can't they just offer a bundle deal or something? 🤑

And have you seen the prices?! $50+ for a show that's basically just a puppet show 🎩😳. I mean, I know it's a unique experience and all that jazz, but come on! It's not like I'm getting a gourmet meal or something 🍴👀.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you want to see this production, be prepared to navigate some clunky website stuff 😒. But hey, at least the puppets are cute, right? 👶

I'm low-key obsessed with Manual Cinema's new 'A Christmas Carol' adaptation 🎄🤩! The fact that they're giving it a modern twist by making it a Zoom call with the family is pure genius. I mean, who doesn't love a good virtual reunion? 💻 But seriously, 92% of attendees at their previous production reported feeling "extremely engaged" and 85% said it was an "emotional rollercoaster". Meanwhile, on Instagram, the show's puppets have racked up over 3.4 million views in just one week, with a whopping 73% of comments being positive 📈👍. I'm also loving the fact that the production company is using eco-friendly materials for all those handmade puppets - 74% of attendees said it made them feel more connected to the environment ❤️. All in all, this show is shaping up to be a holiday hit! 🎅

🤔 I'm intrigued by Manual Cinema's take on 'A Christmas Carol'. Using puppets as a storytelling tool is pretty cool, but it's gonna be interesting to see how the pacing and tone work out in this live performance. I mean, we're talking about adapting a classic tale like that into a holiday spectacle... what if some of the original message gets lost in all the festive fun? Still think it'll be awesome though! 🎄 The use of Zoom as a way to bring the family together is a nice touch - feels pretty modern and relatable. I just hope they don't overdo it on the cheer, you know? 😊

man I love how Manual Cinema is putting their own spin on classic tales 🎄 They really outdid themselves with this A Christmas Carol production! The idea of Aunt Trudy carrying on her late husband's tradition and using it as a way to connect with family over Zoom is so heartwarming ❤️. And those puppets? Whoa, hundreds of handmade ones? that's insane! 🤯 I'm definitely checking out the show at the Studebaker Theater this holiday season 🎟️

🎄 I'm so stoked to hear about Manual Cinema's new take on 'A Christmas Carol'! It sounds like they've really thought outside the box (or in this case, the puppet theater) to create something truly unique and special. The idea of Aunt Trudy reimagining her late husband Joe's tradition is genius - it adds a personal touch and makes the story even more relatable. I'm all about spreading holiday cheer, but this production goes above and beyond with its creative use of puppets and live music 🎵. If you're looking for a fun and unforgettable way to get into the holiday spirit, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

I just saw the trailer for Manual Cinema's 'A Christmas Carol' and it looks so mind-blowing 🤯! I mean, who wouldn't want to see a puppet show come alive on stage? It's amazing how they've taken this classic tale and turned it into something entirely new. The use of puppets, live music, and immersive sound design is just genius 💡. And the fact that it's about spreading Christmas cheer despite being a holiday skeptic is so relatable 🎄. I'm definitely going to check it out when it opens at the Studebaker Theater!

I'm not sure how anyone's going to be surprised by another retelling of A Christmas Carol 🤔... I mean, it's a classic for a reason, right? But hey, if you're looking for something new and weird, this Manual Cinema production sounds like it might scratch that itch. The fact that they've got a holiday skeptic playing the lead role is actually kind of genius - it's not every day you see someone like Aunt Trudy spreading Christmas cheer on screen 😂. And with all those handmade puppets, I'm guessing it's going to be a real spectacle... but also kinda overwhelming? Either way, if you're feeling festive and want to check it out, the Studebaker Theater is showing it from Dec 12th-28th, so I guess that's something 🎟️.

I don’t usually comment but I just saw this news about Manual Cinema's A Christmas Carol and it sounds SO cool 🎄! I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a puppet show that comes to life with live music and immersive sound design? The fact that they're giving the task to Aunt Trudy, a holiday skeptic, is genius - it adds this extra layer of depth to the story. And the puppets, man... hundreds of handmade ones? That's dedication right there 🤯! I'd totally check out the show at the Studebaker Theater if I were in Chicago this holiday season 😊

I don’t usually comment but I just saw this news about Manual Cinema's reimagined 'A Christmas Carol' and I am blown 🤯 by how creative they are! I mean, turning the classic tale into a puppet show with live music and immersive sound design? Genius 🎨. And using Aunt Trudy as the main character is such a great twist. I love how it's a heartwarming story about love and loss too. But what really stood out to me was that they used Zoom calls to tell the story - it feels so modern and relatable 📱. The fact that every detail is handmade, from the puppets to the set design, just shows how much care and attention goes into this production. I'm definitely going to check this out when it comes to town 👀

I'm so down for something new & fun for Christmas! 🎄 I love how Manual Cinema is giving 'A Christmas Carol' a fresh spin with puppets 🤡 - it sounds like they're really getting into the holiday spirit! A Zoom call with family while Trudy performs her late husband's show? Genius! It's all about spreading love & cheer, and I'm here for it ❤️

Manual Cinema's latest masterpiece... who knew Charles Dickens' classic needed a modern rehashing? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, what's next? A reboot of "Oliver Twist" with a cast of hipster orphans? 🙄 Still, the puppets are pretty impressive, I'll give them that. It's like they took all the leftover material from the 90s and mashed it into something new... or just really good at reusing old ideas 😒. Either way, it's on my radar for this holiday season – might be worth checking out if you're a sucker for nostalgia (like Aunt Trudy, I'm sure) 🎄

I'm not sure about all these puppet shows being super special 🤔. I mean, they're creative and all that, but can we really say it's a new twist on 'A Christmas Carol'? It just sounds like the same story with some puppets thrown in 🎄. And what's up with using Zoom for the family reunion? Is that really how families are watching their loved ones perform live from afar these days? 📱 Also, I'm happy to see people spreading cheer, but shouldn't we be questioning why we need a show specifically made about love, loss, and redemption during Christmas? Can we just take those themes for granted or something?

I'm so stoked to see Manual Cinema giving 'A Christmas Carol' a fresh spin! I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a puppet show that's equal parts old-school charm and modern magic 🎭? And the fact that Aunt Trudy is carrying on her late husband Joe's tradition is just beautiful. It's like they're keeping his memory alive in the best way possible ❤️.

I love how they've incorporated all these little details, from the handmade puppets to the live music – it just adds to the overall whimsy and wonder of the show 🎵👀. And the fact that it's a holiday spectacle with a family vibe is perfect for the season. I'm definitely adding this to my holiday calendar and hoping to score some last-minute tickets! 🎟️

ok so i was thinking manual cinema is all about them interactive stuff right? but have they ever been called out for using too much tech in their shows? like a lot of people love the immersive thing but also think it can be overwhelming at times 🤔.

anyway, aunt trudy as director seems interesting. idk if she's actually related to joe or just took on his tradition. gotta read up on her background before i trust this production entirely 😐.

also, hundreds of handmade puppets? that's a lot of work and resources. are we supposed to believe it was all done in-house without any outsourcing or partnerships? need some sources on this one 👀

omg u gotta check out Manual Cinema's 'A Christmas Carol' 🎥🕰️ they took a classic and turned it into this insane puppet show where the puppets literally take over lol i was thinking it would be cheesy but nope, they actually make it sooo beautiful and emotional 🤯 aunt trudy's character is so underrated btw... anyway, its not every day u see someone reimagining a holiday classic like this. plus, its just so nice to have somethin to do w/ family while the snow falls outside ❄️ can't wait to see it live! 👍

I'M SO STOKED ABOUT THIS NEW PRODUCTION OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A UNIQUE AND SPECIAL WAY TO CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS, WITH HANDMADE PUPPETS AND LIVE MUSIC 🎶🎄 I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THE CLASSIC TALE, BUT ADAPTING IT INTO A ZOOM CALL PRODUCTION WITH AUNT TRUDY IS BRILLIANT!
