Marc Guehi transfer news: Crystal Palace could sell defender to Manchester City, says Oliver Glasner

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that the club would sell defender Marc Guehi in January if his asking price is met. The 25-year-old England international is out of contract this summer and Manchester City have emerged as contenders to sign him during the transfer window.

Palace blocked a proposed ยฃ35m move to Liverpool last summer, but risk losing Guehi for nothing at the end of the season. City's interest in Guehi has progressed following injuries to defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias during Sunday's draw against Chelsea.

"I'm not naive," said Glasner. "If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen." The club would prioritize their financial situation over sports considerations if the asking price is met.

Glasner also stated that Palace have already rejected several offers for Guehi in the past, but were unable to play him out of his contract. "If you see the financial situation, it's very important," Glasner said.

Manchester City are among several European clubs interested in signing Guehi on a free transfer, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid also showing interest. The England defender can sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club from this month.

Glasner acknowledged that Guehi is an important player for Palace, but the club's financial situation takes precedence over sports considerations if a suitable offer is made to City.

the palace board must be losing sleep over guehi's contract situation lol ๐Ÿคฏ they blocked liverpool last summer and now they're gonna sell him to city for peanuts? it's all about the cash fam ๐Ÿ’ธ i'm not surprised, though - football has become a business, and clubs are more concerned with their finances than player development. palace is gonna be left with nothin' if guehi walks out on a free transfer ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, city's gonna have to make a big offer to tempt palace into selling... but will it be enough? โšฝ๏ธ

i'm not surprised really...glasner sounds like he's got his priorities straight, even if it means losing a key player ๐Ÿค‘ palace can't afford to hold onto guehi if city makes him an attractive offer...meanwhile, city's injury woes are a blessing in disguise for them, haha! gvardiol and dias are out of commission now, which opens up more space for the blues to swoop in. still, it's sad to see guehi potentially leaving palace - he's been solid for them ๐Ÿค•

man I'm shocked ๐Ÿ˜ฑ, thought palace would hold onto guehi forever, he's been great for them, but 35m is a lot of cash ๐Ÿ’ธ and they need it now more than ever. I get what glasner is saying, gotta prioritize the books, but it's still sad to see him go ๐Ÿค”, he's a top player, and whoever signs him is gonna be lucky ๐Ÿ˜„. city are always a threat when it comes to transfers, but i thought they'd be more focused on signing someone else ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. hope guehi knows what he's doing, doesn't want to end up playing 2nd fiddle somewhere ๐Ÿšซ. palace have got some decent talent coming through the youth team, maybe this is an opportunity for them to rebuild and strengthen their squad ๐Ÿ”™.

Ugh, great job by Palace to sell their best defender for free ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, who needs consistency and stability in defense when you can get a pretty penny for someone who's just going to leave anyway? ๐Ÿ˜’. Glasner's comment about prioritizing financials over sports considerations is so on point... like they're trying to make a joke about being broke or something. ๐Ÿ’ธ Anyway, City's move might be good for Guehi, but Palace fans are gonna lose sleep thinking their England international will be playing in the Champions League next season. Not ๐Ÿ˜ญ

๐Ÿค” I'm skeptical about Palace selling Guehi in January ๐Ÿšจ. ยฃ35m from Manchester City sounds like a lot of dosh ๐Ÿ’ธ but what's driving Glasner to prioritize the club's finances so much? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Is it really that desperate or is there more to this story? Where's the proof they couldn't afford to keep him otherwise? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And what about Guehi's own wants? Is he genuinely interested in leaving for City or just looking for a free move out of contract? ๐Ÿ“… It seems like Palace might be getting cold feet on the sale, but if a massive offer comes in... ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Ugh, come on guys! ๐Ÿ™„ If Manchester City are serious about signing Marc Guehi, they should be prepared to meet Crystal Palace's asking price. ยฃ35m isn't cheap for no reason! And honestly, can we even blame the club for wanting to get a good deal? They're not just losing a player, they're also potentially giving away freebies to other clubs if someone else comes in with a better offer. I mean, have you seen Crystal Palace's finances lately? They're not swimming in cash over here! ๐Ÿ’ธ Guehi is an important player, don't get me wrong, but the club has to think about its bottom line too. And btw, didn't we just talk about how Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also interested? ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿค” So I'm thinking Manchester City are gonna try and snatch Marc Guehi off Palace in January? That would be a major blow to the Eagles' defense ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ’ฅ. I mean, Guehi's a quality player and all that jazz, but if City can meet their asking price, they'll definitely make him an offer he can't refuse ๐Ÿค‘. It's not like Palace are gonna be able to play him out of his contract or anything...๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ they need the cash ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Meanwhile, I'm curious to see who else is in the mix - is Bayern Munich or Barcelona really going to make a serious push for Guehi? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” So I think what's crazy about this whole situation is that Crystal Palace is basically saying that they'd sell Marc Guehi in January if Manchester City comes knocking with a massive enough offer ๐Ÿค‘. And it's not like Palace has even had the chance to negotiate or anything, because Guehi is out of contract this summer anyway ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. I get what Palace is saying about prioritizing their financial situation, but at the same time, you can't help feeling like they're basically selling off a talented player for pennies on the pound ๐Ÿ’ธ. And meanwhile, Manchester City are just sitting back and waiting to see what happens ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's almost like Palace is doing all the heavy lifting to make a deal happen, while City gets to swoop in and snatch Guehi up at the last minute ๐Ÿ”ฎ. I don't know man, it feels like Palace is just throwing caution to the wind here ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

I'm so worried about Crystal Palace losing Marc Guehi ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” They need him on their team right now ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๏ธ! But at the same time, I get it - ยฃ35m is a HUGE sum of money ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿค‘ and Manchester City would break the bank to sign him ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ’ฅ. I'm not sure what's gonna happen, but hopefully Palace can find a way to keep him ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ๏ธโค๏ธ! It's all about the benjamins for City tho ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ˜’

omg i cant believe palace is open to selling guehi ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, he's such an awesome player and its sad to see him go but at the same time, ive heard about palaces finances and it's not great ๐Ÿ’ธ they need the cash so maybe this is for the best? ๐Ÿค” i dont think city will break the bank for him tho ๐Ÿค‘ its all about what guehi wants too, he has to want a move out of england or whatever ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿค” so i'm reading about Crystal Palace and they're gonna sell marc guehi to manchester city if the price is right... like what even is the point of having him on the squad? ๐Ÿค‘ i get it, palace needs the cash but can't they just hold out for a better offer or something? ๐Ÿ’ธ anyway, apparently glasner said all sorts of stuff about prioritizing finances over sports and being not naive... yeah, no kidding right? ๐Ÿ˜’

Glasner's gonna sell him out for a pretty penny ๐Ÿ˜‚. City's interest in Guehi just raised the stakes. Can't blame Palace for prioritizing cash ๐Ÿ’ธ. Will be interesting to see how this plays out ๐Ÿ‘€.

๐Ÿค” I'm not sure about Crystal Palace's stance on Marc Guehi's future... I mean, you gotta prioritize your books first, right? ๐Ÿ’ธ It's not like they're gonna go out of business just 'cause one defender leaves or something ๐Ÿ˜…. And 35 million quid for him? That's some serious cash, fam! ๐Ÿค‘ But at the same time, if City is willing to shell out that kind of dough, then I guess Guehi deserves a shot... ๐Ÿค Either way, I feel like Palace should be trying to get some creative with their transfer business. Maybe they could use that money to sign someone else who's actually gonna make 'em competitive in the league? ๐Ÿค”

I don't really get why City is so keen on Guehi though... Have they seen his games? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, he's solid, but not exactly a game-changer. And what's with all these other clubs trying to swoop him up too? ๐Ÿšจ It feels like it's just gonna be a freebie for whoever signs him... ๐Ÿค‘ Not that I'm saying Palace won't make out of this financially or anything ๐Ÿ˜‚
