Mass killings reported in Sudanese city seized by paramilitary group

Mass killings and atrocities have been reported in El Fasher, a city in Sudan's western Darfur region that has been seized by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The RSF has been accused of executing more than 2,000 unarmed civilians in recent days, according to a statement issued by the Joint Forces, an alliance of rebel groups and government forces.

Video footage shared by pro-democracy activists purports to show dozens of people lying dead on the ground alongside burnt-out vehicles. However, the authenticity of this footage has not been verified.

Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab has found evidence consistent with mass killings by the RSF. The lab's researchers say that the city appears to be in a systematic and intentional process of ethnic cleansing of Fur, Zaghawa, and Berti Indigenous non-Arab communities through forced displacement and summary execution. This includes door-to-door clearance operations in the city.

The level of violence in El Fasher is comparable to the first 24 hours of the Rwandan genocide, according to Nathaniel Raymond, executive director of the Yale Lab. "We are only at the beginning of a wave of violence," he said. "I have never seen a level of violence against an area like we are seeing now."

The RSF has been engaged in a bloody civil war with the Sudanese army since April 2023, resulting in over 150,000 deaths and more than 14 million displaced people.

Tens of thousands of civilians were trapped in El Fasher by an 18-month RSF siege. The UN rights chief, Volker TΓΌrk, has warned of growing risks of "ethnically motivated violations and atrocities" in the city. His office has received reports of summary executions and ethnic motivations for killings.

The situation in El Fasher is dire, with many civilians resorting to eating animal fodder due to a lack of aid. The town's hospital is overwhelmed with wounded people from the fighting, including 15 in critical condition.

The RSF's capture of El Fasher marks a significant turning point in the war and raises concerns about the possibility of partition in Sudan. Experts say that the army's exclusion from a third of the country's territory could lead to further instability.

I'm seeing some pretty grim stats here... πŸ€• like 2,000+ unarmed civilians killed & tens of thousands trapped for 18 months... that's just insane 🚫. The RSF siege on El Fasher is kinda like a ticking time bomb, with the UN rights chief warning of "ethnically motivated violations and atrocities" 🚨.

And have you seen the chart showing the displacement numbers? 14 million people displaced in less than 2 years? That's just staggering 🀯. The Humanitarian Research Lab's findings are like, totally consistent with the video footage that's been shared... it's all super scary πŸ’€.

But what's really worrying is the partition thing... if the army is excluded from a third of the country's territory, it could lead to more instability and violence 🚨. We're talking Rwanda-style genocide here, people πŸ€•. The level of violence in El Fasher is like, off the charts 😱.

Let's just say the stats on this conflict are not looking good... 150,000+ deaths so far & counting 🀯. And it's not just the numbers that are concerning, it's the fact that we're seeing systematic and intentional ethnic cleansing... door-to-door clearance operations? That's like, totally unacceptable 😑.

I mean, what can be done to stop this kind of violence? We need more aid, more diplomacy, more everything 🀝. The situation in El Fasher is dire, with many civilians resorting to eating animal fodder due to a lack of aid... that's just heartbreaking 🐾.

Anyway, I'm gonna keep following this story & try to stay up-to-date on the latest stats and developments πŸ“Š. It's not looking good, but we can't give up hope 🌟.

OMG, this is insane 🀯 I mean, 2,000 unarmed civilians getting executed? That's just horrific. But we need to be careful here, we can't jump to conclusions about that video footage without verifying it first πŸ“Ή. And what's with the Yale Lab's findings? They're saying it's ethnic cleansing, but how do we know for sure? It's a complex situation and we shouldn't be quick to blame anyone.

The RSF siege was 18 months long, so I get why civilians are desperate and scared. But this level of violence? It's like something out of a movie πŸŽ₯. And the fact that there are reports of ethnic motivations for killings... it's just chilling 😱. The situation is dire, no doubt about it.

But we need to think about the bigger picture here. If the RSF takes control of El Fasher, what does that mean for Sudan as a whole? Are we looking at partition or what? It's all so uncertain and scary. We should be advocating for peace and an end to this violence, but also making sure we're not jumping to conclusions without all the facts πŸ€”.

Ugh, what's going on with this situation in Darfur? I'm trying not to think about it too much πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ, but the numbers are just so mind-blowing - 2k+ unarmed civilians killed? That's like, a small city worth of people. And for what? Ethnic cleansing? It's like, how can we even justify this stuff? The footage looks so real, you can almost smell the smoke and hear the screams... it's heartbreaking. I mean, I've seen some dark stuff online before, but this is on another level. Can't believe the RSF would do something like this to innocent civilians. It's just... ugh 🀯.

Ugh, Sudan's Darfur region is literally never good for anyone πŸ€•... I mean, who needs all those years of conflict and displacement, right? And now this? Mass killings and atrocities? Like, what's next? πŸ˜’ The RSF's door-to-door clearance operations sound super respectful and non-violent πŸ™„. And 2,000 unarmed civilians already dead? That's just peachy πŸŽ‰. I'm not surprised the authenticity of those video footage is in question, though... who needs facts when you have drama and bloodshed? πŸ’€

πŸ€• this is so sad πŸŒͺ️ the thought of all those people being killed & displaced is just heartbreaking πŸ’” it seems like the RSF has been doing some really evil stuff πŸ‘Š and i'm not sure how much more of this country can take 🀯 150k+ deaths is crazy 😲 i wish there was a way to stop this senseless violence ASAP 🚫

OMG 🀯 this is getting soooo bad 😱 the RSF is literally doing such evil things πŸ’€ it's like they're trying to wipe out entire communities πŸ€• and the fact that they're getting away with it is just so frustrating 😑 I mean, 2k+ people killed in one city?!?!? That's like a whole army of innocent civilians gone πŸ’” and it's not even like anyone's holding them accountable 🚫

and don't even get me started on the siege πŸšͺ they've been trapped there for 18 months already 😩 I can only imagine how hard that must be for everyone who's still living there 🌎 the UN is trying to do something, but it feels like a drop in the bucket 🌊

I'm so worried about the future of Sudan 🀞 and these innocent people πŸ™ they deserve so much better than this πŸ’– can we please just stop this senseless violence? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

πŸ€• I'm getting really worried about what's happening in Darfur πŸŒͺ️. It's like, we're seeing some crazy stuff here. 2,000 innocent civilians executed and thousands more displaced... it's just not right πŸ˜”. The fact that the RSF is doing this ethnic cleansing... it's like, totally unacceptable 🚫. I mean, I'm no expert but from what I've read, it sounds like we're seeing some major human rights violations here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. We need to get some aid in there ASAP 🚨 and make sure everyone is safe πŸ’•. Partitioning Sudan just seems like a recipe for disaster... let's hope the army and rebel groups can find a way to put their differences aside and work towards peace 🀞.

🚨 2k+ unarmed civilians executed by RSF 🚨, what's going on? The footage is bloody, but is it real? Yale Lab says they've got evidence of systematic ethnic cleansing... this is Rwanda 1st day level violence right now. Tens of thousands trapped, hospital is overwhelmed... aid is scarce 🀯. Can't believe the army is doing this to own ppl. Partition in Sudan, experts say? That's just a recipe for more bloodshed...

omg this is soooo sad πŸ€• like what's happening in el fasher is straight outta a horror movie the rsf is just brutal they're executing innocent ppl and it's getting worse by the day 2000+ people dead is just insane 🀯 i don't think anyone can wrap their head around that number and then you got the yale lab saying it's like the rwandan genocide which is even more heartbreaking https://news.yahoo.com/video-footage-shows- dozens-dead-rapid-response-forces-sudan-el-fasher-123145109.html

.. this is getting outta control in Darfur! The RSF's actions are straight up genocide, plain and simple 😱. I mean, 2k unarmed civilians executed? That's not just civil unrest, that's a full-on humanitarian disaster. And the fact that they're using ethnic cleansing tactics... it's like something out of a bad dream.

You know what's really disturbing? The fact that some people are saying this is only "the beginning" of a wave of violence 🀯. I mean, come on! This is already happening in one city, how many more cities have to be hit before we take action?

And let's talk about the siege on El Fasher... 18 months without aid? That's like holding people hostage, plain and simple. And the fact that the UN rights chief is warning of "ethnically motivated violations" ... it's like they're saying this is a done deal.

I'm all for finding peace in Sudan, but you can't just sit back and do nothing when atrocities are being committed πŸ’”. We need to step up our game and support the civilians who are suffering here. This isn't about politics, it's about human lives...

Ugh, this is getting so out of hand 🀯... Sudan's Darfur region is literally going up in flames 😩. I mean, 2,000+ unarmed civilians executed? That's just sickening 😷. And now the UN is warning about ethnically motivated violations? It's like they're saying 'oh, this will happen'... what are we even doing to stop it? πŸ™„

The RSF's been fighting with the Sudanese army since April 2023 and it's gotten to the point where people are resorting to eating animal fodder because aid isn't getting in 🀯. And the situation is dire, with hospital beds full of wounded civilians... I just can't even πŸ™ˆ.

Partition? Sounds like a recipe for disaster πŸ’₯. We need to find a way to stop this bloody civil war and get some help to these innocent people ASAP πŸ’–. I mean, where's all the international attention going?! Shouldn't we be calling out governments to do something about it? πŸ€”

man, this is insane 🀯... 2k unarmed civilians executed by the RSF? it's like something outta a horror movie... and now they're being accused of ethnic cleansing too... it's like we've seen it all already in this godforsaken world 😩... i'm just worried about those civilians who are stuck in el fasher with no aid, eating animal fodder... how are they supposed to survive? πŸ€• and 15 people critically injured in the hospital, that's just heartbreaking... what's going on over there is like a nightmare that won't end πŸ’”

OMG u guys!! 🀯 This is literally soooo bad! Like, 2k+ ppl just got executed by the RSF?!? And it's not even like they were armed or anything... that's just straight up brutal πŸ’€ I'm low-key freaking out thinking about all those innocent ppl and their fams suffering in El Fasher πŸ€•

I know some people might be skeptical about this video, but from what I've been seeing on social media and reading about it online, it sounds like a total humanitarian crisis πŸŒͺ️. And honestly, the fact that Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab found evidence of mass killings is super concerning πŸ“Š

The level of violence in El Fasher is insane - it's like they're trying to cleanse an entire city of certain ethnic groups! 🀯 That sounds so not okay... and with all the other stuff going on in Sudan, it just feels like the RSF is getting away with some serious crimes against humanity 🚫

I'm literally following this situation really closely because I care so much about people's lives... and it's heartbreaking to see ppl having to eat animal fodder because they can't find food or aid 🍴. The fact that the hospital in El Fasher is overwhelmed with wounded ppl is just devastating 😭

This is so heartbreaking πŸ€•. The thought of 2,000+ unarmed civilians losing their lives is just devastating. I keep thinking if this is happening right now in our own backyard, what's being covered up or ignored elsewhere? Sudan has been going through so much turmoil for years, it's like we're watching a slow-motion disaster unfold πŸŒͺ️. The scale of violence here is alarming - Rwandan genocide-like... how can we not be speaking out about this?! πŸ—£οΈ. The UN rights chief is spot on, and it's high time experts start sounding the alarm. Can we get aid to those trapped in El Fasher ASAP? 🚨

😞 this is getting crazy, 2k+ unarmed civs executed by RSF? 🀯 how do u even do that? and now it sounds like systematic ethnic cleansing... what's going on in Sudan? πŸŒͺ️ those videos of dead ppl everywhere, they're hard to watch... hope ppl are doing ok, but i dont think so atm. πŸ˜”

🚨😱 this is absolutely heartbreaking news... 2k+ unarmed civilians executed by the RSF? 😡 it's like something out of a horror movie, and it's not just the numbers that are scary, it's the systematic nature of it all... ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, door-to-door clearances... 🀯 how can we even begin to process this level of violence?

πŸ“° i'm following the Yale Lab's research on this, and it sounds like they've found some pretty damning evidence... comparable to the Rwandan genocide? 😨 that's just chilling. And with tens of thousands trapped in El Fasher by an 18-month siege... πŸŒͺ️ no wonder the UN rights chief is sounding the alarm.

🀝 we need to get more aid to these civilians ASAP, and get some answers about what's going on behind closed doors... partition in Sudan? 🀯 that sounds like a recipe for disaster. πŸ’₯ anyway, just wanted to share my outrage and sadness over this developing crisis. πŸ˜”

😞 this is just getting worse by the day, can we just take a deep breath? 🀯 2k+ unarmed civilians executed, that's like... what even is happening in El Fasher right now? πŸŒͺ️ i'm literally shaking thinking about it... and yeah, the vids are super concerning too, i mean who verifies this stuff anyway? πŸ“Ί we need to keep an eye on this situation and hold those responsible accountable but at the same time, let's not jump to conclusions just yet πŸ€” what do you guys think is gonna happen next in Sudan?

oh man this is so heartbreaking πŸ€• the level of violence in el fasher is insane, it's like something out of a nightmare 😨 the fact that tens of thousands of civilians are being trapped and forced to eat animal fodder because they can't get aid is just devastating 🀯 150k+ people have already lost their lives and now we're seeing reports of ethnic motivations for killings... this is literally what nightmares are made of πŸ’€

OMG, what's going on in Darfur?! 😱 This is like something out of a nightmare, mass killings and ethnic cleansing 🀯? I'm seeing video footage of people lying dead on the ground, it's just...😩 The scale of this violence is mind-boggling, especially when you consider that it's comparable to the Rwandan genocide πŸŒͺ️.

I mean, can we even talk about how horrific the situation is for the civilians trapped in El Fasher? 😨 No aid, no medical care, people are eating animal fodder just to survive...it's like they're forgotten by humanity πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. And on top of that, there's this massive war going on between the RSF and the Sudanese army, with 150,000 deaths already πŸ’€.

What's even more concerning is the possibility of partition in Sudan, it could lead to further instability 🚨. The fact that the RSF has been accused of ethnic motivations for killings is just chilling 😳. I'm all about advocating for tech and innovation, but what's the point when we're not using our platforms to raise awareness about human rights crises like this? πŸ€”
