Mastriano says God told him not to run for Pa. governor again in 2026

Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano has made it clear that he won't be throwing his hat into the ring again in 2026, citing a divine intervention that has led him to believe that running for governor is not God's will.

During a recent livestream with his wife Rebbie, Mastriano revealed that he and his wife had prayed, fasted, and discussed their decision extensively before making the announcement. Despite receiving numerous pleas from supporters urging them to run, the pair ultimately came to the conclusion that they were being called to do something else.

"We've been faithful servants of this great state for a number of years... but we believe, with full peace in our hearts, that God has not called us to run for governor this year," Mastriano said during the Facebook livestream. The decision not to seek re-election highlights the significant challenges Mastriano faced during his 2022 campaign, including criticism over his role supporting former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Mastriano's statement also comes as Governor Josh Shapiro is expected to announce his reelection campaign in the coming days. The Pennsylvania primaries are set for May 19, with a general election scheduled for November 3.

omg, mastriano is actually kinda inspiring ๐Ÿ™Œ he's putting his faith first and not letting politics dictate his next move ๐Ÿ˜Š i feel like we need more people in politics who prioritize their values over just trying to win elections u know? anyway, it's gonna be super interesting to see how governor shapiro handles the campaign trail without mastriano as a contender ๐Ÿ‘€ might make for some juicy debates!

man this whole thing got me thinking... what does it mean when someone says they've received a divine intervention ๐Ÿค”? like is it really just their wife telling them no or is there something deeper going on? and what's the real reason behind Mastriano's decision to not run again? is it truly about listening to his inner voice or is there some external pressure at play? it makes me wonder, when do we start making decisions for others instead of ourselves? ๐Ÿค

I'm kinda surprised by this decision from Senator Mastriano ๐Ÿค”. I mean, he's been pretty open about his faith and values before, so it seems like a natural fit that he'd consider what God wants him to do next ๐Ÿ’•. I get why he wouldn't want to run for governor again, especially with the drama that went down during his last campaign ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. It's not easy navigating all those politics and public scrutiny, you know? ๐Ÿคฏ On the other hand, it does leave a void in the Republican field for the primary. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what else is in store for PA! ๐Ÿค”

omg what a surprise lol so senator mastriano wont be running for governor no biggie i mean we all know he's been in the news lately for that whole trump thing anyway guess god had other plans for him ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ but seriously can't wait to see josh shapiro run for re-election gonna be a wild ride in pennsylvania primaries may 19 is around the corner ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ‘Š

idk why ppl wanna make politics so personal lol ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean mastriano's decision is fine but like who needs divine intervention to decide on their career path? can't he just say "im done" or somethin? and whats up with the fastin & prayin' ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ™? seems kinda intense fam. but hey, if its what works for him & his wife then idc. also wut's next? is shapiro gonna be the only 1 runnin?

so Mastriano is out of the gov race and it's like... not surprising ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway did u know that Shapiro has been crushing it on social media with like 4x more followers than Mastriano had last year? ๐Ÿ“ˆ he's got a 93% approval rating and is leading in polls by like 20 points ๐Ÿ˜… meanwhile Mastriano's trying to spin this "divine intervention" thing which is pretty funny lol what's the real story here tho? ๐Ÿค”

Stats:
- Shapiro's social media following growth rate: 45.6% per year (2020-2025)
- Mastriano's approval rating in 2022: 42%
- Current polls for PA gov primary:
* Shapiro: 54.7%
* [Other candidates]: 35.1%

I'M SO GLAD TO SEE DOUG MASTRIANO MAKING THIS DECISION, IT'S LIKE HE'S BEING CALLED BY A GREATER FORCE ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒŸ! I MEAN, RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR CAN'T BE EASY ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE CRITICISM HE FACED IN 2022. IT TOOK HIM AND HIS WIFE SOME SERIOUS PRAYER AND SELF REFLECTION BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY FOUND PEACE ABOUT LEAVING THE SCENE ๐Ÿ™Œ! IT'S GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT JOSH SHAPIRO COMES OUT WITH, I HOPE HE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN PENNSYLVANIA ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

I think Mastriano's decision not to run for governor again isn't necessarily about him being a bad politician... like people are saying. I mean, he did have some tough times during his last campaign, but that doesn't mean he should just throw in the towel ๐Ÿค”. And honestly, I kinda respect the fact that he listened to his wife and took the time to pray and reflect on what they wanted to do next. Sometimes you gotta listen to your inner voice, right? ๐Ÿ’ก Plus, it's not like we know all the details about what went down in those 2022 primaries... maybe Mastriano just really didn't want to deal with all that drama anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚. And can we talk about how weirdly convenient it is that Governor Shapiro is announcing his reelection campaign around the same time? Like, I'm sure that's a total coincidence ๐Ÿค‘.

๐Ÿค” I've been following Doug Mastriano's story and it's kinda sad to see him step down from politics. He had some tough times during his last campaign ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ but I guess you can't force someone to do what they don't feel is right for them. I'm actually a bit curious about who'll run against Shapiro now ๐Ÿ’ญ Maybe someone new will bring a fresh perspective to the table? Either way, it's gonna be interesting to watch how this plays out ๐Ÿ“Š

Meh, gotta feel kinda bad for Doug Mastriano ๐Ÿค”. I mean, he's still got a bunch of supporters out there who are all like "Hey man, you're a great leader!" But it's clear that God's got other plans for him ๐Ÿ˜Š. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda love the whole "divine intervention" thing - it's like, okay fine, we get it. You've prayed and fasted and everything ๐Ÿ™.

But seriously, can you imagine having to deal with all that stress and scrutiny again? I mean, the 2022 campaign was already rough, what with Trump drama and everything... ๐Ÿคฏ. And now he's gotta sit out another election? That's like, two years of no campaigning, no rallies, no debating... it's like, what's the point of even being a politician if you're not gonna use that time to make a difference? ๐Ÿ˜.

Still, I guess you can't argue with someone who says they've got a direct line to God ๐Ÿ’ฏ. And hey, maybe this is just the universe's way of telling him it's time for a change ๐ŸŒฑ. You never know what's gonna happen in 2026... might be interesting to see ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

๐Ÿค” so like i was thinking about this and i gotta say, its kinda weird that he says god did this intervention thingy... its not like hes saying he didnt wanna run anymore or anything... he's just gonna step down on his own terms like its no big deal ๐Ÿ™ƒ anywayz, it makes me wonder what other ppl are thinking about this. some people might be all like yay cuz hes out of the picture but honestly, i think this whole thing is kinda messed up. Mastriano was a major player in the primaries last time and now he just decides to throw in the towel? whats next? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜‚ So they decided not to run for governor because they got a divine intervention? Like, God said "nope, don't do it"? That's even better than "I'm just not feeling it" ๐Ÿ˜‚ I mean, at least if he said that, people would be like "oh okay, cool, you're just having an off day". But no, now we gotta believe in a higher power telling him what to do? ๐Ÿคฃ Anyway, poor Josh Shapiro is gonna have to deal with all the drama now ๐Ÿ˜œ

So like I was thinking about this news and stuff... Mastriano said he won't run again because God told him not to? ๐Ÿค” I mean, that's pretty wild... like isn't politics kinda about following your heart and doing what you think is right for the people? But if he really believes in this divine intervention thing then idk man... it's all good lol. I'm just curious how his wife was into all this too? Like did she pray with him or something? And omg have you seen Josh Shapiro's face in that picture? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm kinda surprised by this decision from Senator Mastriano ๐Ÿค”. I mean, I get it, he's been through some tough times and all that drama with Trump might've taken a toll on him ๐Ÿ’”. But still, it feels like a big loss for the GOP in PA ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ. Shapiro's gonna be a strong contender and I think he'll have an easy ride to reelection ๐ŸŽ‰. As for Mastriano, who knows? Maybe this 'divine intervention' thing will actually help him find something else that truly fulfills him ๐Ÿ™. We just gotta see what the future holds for him ๐Ÿ‘€.

๐Ÿ˜Š I'm thinking maybe this decision is good for the state? ๐Ÿค” Mastriano's gotta do what's right for him and his fam ๐Ÿ˜Š. All this drama about Trump and elections can be super toxic ๐Ÿšฎ. Maybe some fresh blood will come in and bring change ๐Ÿ’ช? Shapiro might have a tough road ahead but he's got experience on his side ๐Ÿ‘. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what the future holds for PA ๐ŸŒŸ!

I'm not surprised he didn't throw his hat into the ring again ๐Ÿค”. I mean, running for governor is already a huge commitment, and after everything he went through in '22, it's probably nice for him to focus on his family life. But at the same time, now that Shapiro's announced his reelection bid, you've got to wonder if Mastriano's decision was just a way of shaking things up ๐Ÿ”„. And what about all those supporters who were rooting for him? They must be pretty disappointed ๐Ÿ˜”.

I donโ€™t usually comment but I think itโ€™s kinda interesting that Doug Mastriano is putting faith over politics ๐Ÿค”. I mean, we all know politicians have to make tough decisions and sometimes they can be under a lot of pressure. It's great that he and his wife are being true to themselves and not letting the politics get in the way of their values ๐Ÿ’ฏ. On the other hand, you gotta wonder what would've happened if he decided to run again ๐Ÿคž. The primaries are gonna be super interesting this year with Josh Shapiro running for re-election ๐Ÿ‘Š
