Michigan lawmaker proposes ban on state property being used for ICE detention - Detroit Metro Times

🤔 I think it's about time we talk about this ICE detention center thing in Michigan... like, what's going on here? 32 people lost their lives and now someone is trying to stop the state from selling its property to be used as a detention center? 🚫 It's crazy. If we can't even keep our own people safe, how are we supposed to take care of everyone else? 🤷‍♀️ I'm all for doing what's right, and if that means standing up to the administration, then so be it. 💪

🤔 I've got a feelin' this bill is gonna be a tough nut to crack 🥜, but at the same time, it's about dang time someone spoke up 💁‍♀️! As a Michigander, I'm appalled by what's been goin' on with those ICE detention centers. 32 lives lost? That's just heartbreaking 😔. It's high time we take a stand and protect our state's property from bein' used for such purposes 🚫.

I also love how Rep Wegela is keepin' it real about the admin's policies 👊. We need more leaders like him who aren't afraid to speak truth to power 💬. And that provision about private contractors forfeitin' their properties if used for immigration detention? Genius 💡! It's all about takin' back control and makin' sure our state isn't becomin' a playground for ICE 🚫.

Now, I know Republicans are gonna try to shut this bill down 🚧, but I'm rootin' for Rep Wegela and all the activists who are fightin' for justice 🔥. This is just the beginnin', folks! We need more people like him in office, who are willin' to take a stand against injustice 💪. Let's keep the momentum goin' and make some real change happen 🔄!

🤔 Michigan is finally taking a stand on this ICE detention center thing. I mean, 32 people dying in custody? That's just unacceptable 🚫. I think it's great that Rep. Wegela is pushing for a bill like House Bill 5494. It's about time the state takes control of its own property and doesn't let private contractors turn it into detention centers. 🤝 The fact that ICE arrests have nearly tripled in Michigan and most people are being detained without any criminal convictions just shows how messed up our immigration system is. We need to fix this ASAP! 💼

man this is getting crazy 32 lives lost in custody its like we cant even be safe no more gotta stop these detentions already 🤕😡 what if it was my family member or friend who died like that ? states gotta take a stand against these ice policies its not just about republicans or democrats its about humanity and dignity
