Microsoft’s AI-powered copy and paste can now use on-device AI

Microsoft has given its Advanced Paste tool in PowerToys for Windows 11 a significant upgrade with the latest update, allowing users to utilize on-device AI models instead of relying on cloud connections. This move marks a major shift towards more localized processing and data storage.

In a bid to reduce reliance on internet connectivity, Microsoft's Foundry Local tool can now be integrated into Advanced Paste, enabling the software to process requests on your device's Neural Processing Unit (NPU) rather than sending them to the cloud. As a result, users won't need to purchase API credits for specific tasks such as text translation or summarization.

Furthermore, this update allows for the support of multiple online models in Advanced Paste, including Azure OpenAI, Gemini, and Mistral. This change was previously limited to OpenAI. The new feature set also includes a design tweak that displays your current clipboard content and introduces a model selection drop-down menu.

With these updates, Microsoft's Advanced Paste tool is becoming increasingly self-sufficient, allowing users to harness the processing power of their own devices rather than relying on cloud-based services. This move towards more localized processing not only reduces data storage needs but also provides greater control over user data.

Just think about it... we're moving in the right direction with this kinda tech upgrade! 🤖 Microsoft is really trying to get us off that cloud dependency train, which is a good thing considering our online security and data protection. And now they're supporting more AI models too? That's like having multiple toolboxes in one - so versatile! I'm curious though, how much of this processing power will actually be used by the average user? Like, do we really need to switch away from cloud services that seamlessly integrate with our other online tools? 🤔

OMG u guys! So they've finally updated PowerToys and it's all about local AI models now 🤖. Like, who needs the internet when you can just use your own device right? It's super convenient and it saves u from those annoying API credit purchases 😒. Plus, now u can choose which model to use - isn't that cool? I mean, I knew this was gonna happen eventually, Microsoft's been talking about going more local for ages 💻. And honestly, it makes total sense, all that cloud processing is so last season 🙄. Now we're talkin' self-sufficiency, reduced data storage needs, and complete control over our user data 🤝. Can't wait to try out these new features and ditch the internet for good 😂👍

OMG, this is so cool 🤩! I've been saying it for ages, we need to break free from the cloud and store our own data at home 💻. Now Microsoft is making it easier with their Advanced Paste tool and Foundry Local tool. I can already imagine myself having a super secure and private workspace on my laptop 🤝. And the fact that I won't have to pay for API credits anymore is a total win 🎉! The more power we keep in our own hands, the less reliant on internet connectivity we'll be 😊. This is like, the future of productivity right here 🔥.

I gotta say, I'm loving this new update from Microsoft 🤩. They're really making a big deal about going local, which is a total game-changer for anyone who's sick of relying on cloud connections all the time. I mean, can you imagine being able to just paste some text without having to worry about your data getting sent to the dark web or whatever 😂? It's a huge step forward for user control and data storage.

But seriously, this is a major win for people who are just trying to get stuff done without all the extra baggage. And it's not like they're sacrificing any functionality in the process – they're actually adding more features! The fact that you can now choose from multiple online models is totally awesome, and I'm low-key excited to see what other cool things they'll bring out with this new tool.

Anyway, kudos to Microsoft for taking the initiative to make Windows 11 even better 🙌. They're really showing us all how it's done!

omg i'm so stoked about this update lol 🤩!! Microsoft is really stepping up its game with this new feature 🚀! I mean, think about it, no more relying on internet connectivity just to get some basic tasks done, thats like, totally crazy 💥! And the fact that they're supporting multiple online models now is a huge win for anyone who uses Advanced Paste all the time 👍. Plus, being able to control what data gets sent to the cloud is just a major plus, safety first 🙌. I'm all about local processing and data storage now, it's like, the future or something 🤔!

meh, so now everyone's all about being "self-sufficient" and whatnot... like, I get it, reducing reliance on the internet is a thing, but are we really saving that much energy or resources? I mean, think about it, if you're using AI models on your device, you're still relying on some massive servers to train those models in the first place. It's just a matter of where the processing happens, right? and yeah, having multiple model options is cool, but let's not get too carried away...

I think its about time someone stepped in and gave us more control over our online tools 😊. Having to rely on cloud connections can be a bit sketchy, you know? I mean, what if the servers go down or the internet connection gets slow? This new feature from Microsoft is definitely a step in the right direction 🔄. By allowing us to process tasks on our own devices, we're not only saving data storage but also keeping our sensitive info safe 🛡️. And with the integration of multiple online models, I'm curious to see how this will impact things like productivity and creativity 🤔. One thing's for sure, though: less cloud dependency is a good thing in my book 💻!

I'm not sure I trust this "self-sufficiency" thing... still means they're storing a ton of info on my device 🤔. And what's the point of having multiple models available if it just means more bloat? It feels like we're just switching from one cloud dependency to another... and what about all those API credits they don't need anymore? That's just free money 💸. I'm still not sold on this whole "local processing" thing... how's that gonna affect battery life or storage space?

OMG, I'm so hyped about this update! 🤩 It's like, Microsoft is finally listening to us and giving us more control over our own devices... I mean, who doesn't want to reduce their internet reliance, right? 😂 This new feature with the NPU is gonna be a game changer, especially for people with slower internet connections. And it's so cool that they're supporting multiple online models now - like, what if you need to use different ones for different tasks? 🤔 It just feels like Microsoft is getting more and more self-sufficient... I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, lol 😅

I'm loving this move by Microsoft! 🤩 The fact that Advanced Paste is now using on-device AI models is a game-changer for users who want to ditch the cloud and process things locally. It's like having your own supercomputer right in your device!

This update also makes me think about how it's going to impact the future of productivity tools. With more processing power happening on-device, I imagine we'll see even more complex tasks being handled without relying on cloud connections. And let's not forget about the API credits savings - that's a nice bonus! 💸

But what really gets me excited is the potential for user control and data security. When your device can process things locally, it reduces the amount of sensitive info you're sending over the internet. That's a big deal for people who care about their online footprint. 🙌

omg can you believe ms is finally stepping up its game 🤯! this new update for adv paste tool is like a dream come true for ppl who hate relying on cloud connectivity all the time. now we can have more control over our data and process stuff locally on our own devices 💻🔥 and i'm so down for not having to buy api credits for tasks like text translation or summarization that's just such a money grab 🤑 anyway, this is def a major win for users who want to keep their data private and be more self-sufficient with their tech 💯

omg can u believe its 2025 and microsoft is finally catching up with the whole decentralization thing? like they're acknowledging that our internet connection is super sketchy at times 😅 anyway, i'm hyped about this update to Advanced Paste - the fact that we'll be able to use on-device AI models without relying on cloud connections feels so liberating. i mean, who needs the cloud when you got an NPU right? 🤖 it's about time Microsoft prioritized user control over data storage and processing power... now if they could just work on their old Windows updates, idc 💯

yeah this is huge for anyone who's all about keepin their online stuff private 🤫. think about it, with Microsoft doin' the heavy lifting locally, you're basically in charge of your own data processing 💻. no more relyin on 3rd party services or worryin about those pesky API credits 😉. and let's not forget about the NPU, that's like a superpower for your device 🔥. just imagine bein able to get things done faster without all the internet hoggin' 🙅‍♂️. love how Microsoft is pushin the boundaries of what's possible with tech 💪

OMG, can you believe it? Microsoft just leveled up its Advanced Paste tool and I am SO here for it! Like, who wouldn't want to process tasks on their own device instead of relying on the cloud? It's like having a superpower, right? 🤯 Plus, no more API credits needed which is a total win. I'm loving how this update makes Advanced Paste all about self-sufficiency and control over user data. It's like they're taking cues from Tony Stark's AI system, aka JARVIS - "I am Iron Man" 💻💸

OMG u guys I just tried out this new update for PowerToys and it's SO cool 🤩! I was skeptical at first thinking "wait won't my internet go crazy with all these AI models?" but honestly it makes so much sense to be more local with ur processing lol. Think about it, no more buying api credits or worrying about data storage...it's like having the power in ur own hands 🤖! I'm loving how they've also added that model selection drop-down menu tho...makes it way easier to switch between models 📝💻

I gotta say 🤔, this is a major win for Windows 11 users. Being able to use on-device AI models is gonna be super convenient, especially if you're always on the go and can't get a stable internet connection. Plus, it's awesome that Microsoft is giving us more control over our data 💻. The fact that we won't have to pay for API credits for certain tasks is just the icing on the cake 🍰. I'm curious to see how this new feature set will impact developers who rely on cloud-based services... will they need to make a switch? 🤷‍♂️

🎉 I'm so stoked about this update for Advanced Paste! It's like, finally we get to ditch the constant reliance on cloud connections and just work with what our own devices can handle 🤖. The idea of being able to process requests on my device's NPU is like a dream come true - no more API credits needed! 💸 And being able to try out different online models? That's a total game-changer 😍. I mean, think about it, all this processing power in the palm of your hand... it's crazy! 👊 Microsoft's really taking steps in the right direction here and I'm totally here for it 🎉

🤖 I'm loving this new update for Advanced Paste in PowerToys! It's like, finally, Microsoft is listening to our concerns about cloud dependency 😒. I mean, think about it, we're always on the go and can't rely on a stable internet connection everywhere. This move towards local AI processing is genius 🤓. And, let's be real, having control over our own data is way more secure than sending everything to Microsoft's servers. Plus, no need for those API credits? 💸 That's just icing on the cake! The design tweaks are nice too, but let's be real, I'm all about functionality 🤖💻
