Mom of alleged ringleader of NBA gambling scheme gets sticker stock at $250k bail: ‘Wow!’

"Sticker Shock: Mother of Alleged NBA Scam Mastermind Stuck with $250,000 Bail"

In a stunning display of financial backing, the mother of Shane "Sugar" Hennen, 30-year-old Pittsburgh resident Linda Marie Hennen, has been ordered to pony up $250,000 in bail to secure her son's release from federal custody. The hefty sum is part of a complex bond package hashed out with Hennen's lawyer, which includes collateral and a promise that he will appear at his next court date on November 24.

When informed of the terms, Linda Marie let out an audible "Wowww!" – her candid reaction to being asked if she was sure she wanted to guarantee the enormous sum. Her son, who stands accused of orchestrating massive point-shaving schemes and supplying cheating technology to organized crime groups, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges related to his alleged roles in two sprawling indictments.

According to prosecutors, Hennen orchestrated a scheme that saw NBA players like Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter pull themselves out of games early with bogus injuries, raking in big on sports bets. In another indictment, Hennen is accused of supplying cheating technology, including card-shuffling machines altered to digitally read the cards in the deck, to a mob-backed poker game crew that lured in high-rolling marks using former NBA players Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones as bait.

Hennen's mother, who has recently started working as a package handler for UPS earning around $300 a week, seems taken aback by the enormity of the financial burden. Despite initial hesitation, she ultimately agreed to take on the responsibility, with Hennen's brother Colin planning to join her in sharing the bond.

When asked about the allegations against her son, Hennen seemed perplexed, claiming he was confused about the scope of the federal probe that has ensnared him. He also expressed a lack of familiarity with several NBA players mentioned as part of his alleged schemes.

As Hennen faces the possibility of decades in prison if convicted on wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges, it remains to be seen whether his mother's sticker stock will prove sufficient to keep him out of jail.

🤯 This is just crazy... $250,000 bail for a mom who's already struggling financially? I feel bad for Linda Marie, she sounds like a good person. My grandfather used to say that money problems can come from anywhere, even when you're doing the right thing. 🤑 I'm glad Shane has a lawyer who knows what they're doing and can help him out. This is a tough time for her and her family. Maybe they should consider getting a loan or asking friends/family for help? 💸

The thought of someone having to shell out $250k for their kid's bail is just crazy 🤑. I mean, the mum does earn like $300 a week working at UPS so that's a big chunk of her pay 💸. And it looks like Shane's brother is gonna help out too which is good but still, $250k is wild!

$250k is a lot of cash lol what's going through her mind right now 🤑🤯 I feel bad for her, though - she's gotta take care of her son on top of working part-time at UPS and earning like $300 a week 📦💸 It's crazy how fast the stakes can rise in these situations...

Omg like $250k is crazy! I mean, I feel bad for Linda Marie that she's gotta take on this amount of debt but at the same time how did Shane get himself into so much financial trouble? 🤑💸 He's got a lawyer and everything but it just goes to show how serious the charges are against him. And honestly, 300 bucks a week from UPS isn't gonna cut it when you're dealing with millions in bail 💸👀

I'm shocked lol 🤯 that Linda Marie is going to have to pay that much for her son Shane's bail... like $250k? 💸 That's crazy! I mean, I get that he's got some serious charges against him but come on, $250k is a lot of money. Does she really know what she's getting herself into? 😂 Her "Wowww!" reaction when she found out was priceless 🤣. And honestly, I don't think she has any idea what's going on or how deep the federal probe runs... her son seemed clueless about it too 🤔. It's gonna be a long road for her and Shane if he gets convicted... poor lady is stuck with that $250k bail for years to come 😩

Oh man 🤣 can you believe this? $250k bail for a point-shaving scheme? That's like saying I owe $250k to the universe because I ate an extra slice of pizza 🍕😂. What's next, asking my mom to bail me out when I get arrested for eating too many tacos? 🌯️ My mom is literally working at UPS and making 300 bucks a week, not exactly swimming in cash 💸. And now she's gotta fork over that kind of cash to keep her son out of jail? Talk about sticker shock 😱.

🤔 I'm not surprised that Shane Hennen's mom is being asked for $250k bail but come on, $300 a week from UPS? That's like asking her to take on a second mortgage or something. 🤑 She seems like a regular person trying to make ends meet and now she's stuck with this massive financial burden just because her son's in a bit of trouble. I get that he's allegedly got some serious screws loose, but $250k? That's a lot for one mistake. And what if things don't go his way in court? Is the family really prepared to deal with all that stress and potentially lose everything? 🤷‍♀️

OMG 🤯 I'm literally shaking my head over this one... $250k bail for a mom who can barely make ends meet? 🤑 It's just not right 😔 I mean, I get it, her son is allegedly involved in some shady stuff, but come on, that's just excessive. She's gotta take on a 2nd job just to pay the bond herself 🤯 and now she's gonna share it with her brother too? 💸 It's like they're expecting them to be millionaires or something 🤑. This is just another example of how broken the system is, especially when it comes to bail and financial burdens. 😩
