Moment newly opened bridge in China partly collapses – video

A brand new bridge in southern China has partially collapsed just days after its grand opening, leaving several vehicles stranded and residents shaken.

Footage obtained by Chinese media outlets shows the Jinjiang Bridge, which spans the Jin River, coming under intense stress as it was flooded with water. The camera work is swift and frenetic, capturing the rapid movement of traffic as drivers scrambled to safety.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as 'chaotic' with vehicles stalled on both sides of the bridge, while emergency services rushed to assist those stranded. Authorities have yet to confirm the extent of the damage but it's believed that sections of the bridge may need to be repaired or rebuilt before it can reopen.

The collapse has raised questions about the safety and quality of the infrastructure projects undertaken by China's government in recent years. As one eyewitness noted, "the new road was supposed to alleviate traffic congestion – instead, it seems to have created more problems." The incident has sparked widespread concern among locals and officials alike, with many calling for greater accountability and oversight to prevent such incidents from happening again.

With the bridge's future hanging in the balance, questions are being asked about what led to this catastrophic failure and how China plans to address the concerns raised by the public.

omg this is so worrying 🤕 a brand new bridge collapsing just days after opening is literally crazy ! i feel bad for the people stranded on both sides of the bridge, poor souls 😓 the fact that it was flooded with water and caused so much chaos makes me wonder what kinda maintenance & inspections were done before it opened 💔 china's government should def do a thorough investigation into this and make sure they're doing better to prevent such incidents in the future 🔍

ugh 🤦‍♀️ this is like a nightmare come true... who wants to be on a new bridge just for it to collapse? i mean, i get that accidents happen but a brand new bridge in southern china collapsing already? 🚨 what's going on with quality control over there? and now people are saying the new road was supposed to alleviate traffic congestion, but instead its caused more problems... like, how does that even work? 😕 anyway, gotta hope the people affected by this get the help they need & the bridge gets fixed ASAP 👍

Ugh, this is so sickening 🤕 - a brand new bridge just collapsing like that? I mean, I know it's a big country with a lot of infrastructure, but come on... it's not like they didn't test it or anything before opening it up to the public. And now people are stuck on the side of the river, wondering if they'll ever be able to cross again. It's just so frustrating. I feel bad for the residents who have to deal with this kind of thing all the time. Can't they just get it right for once? 🤦‍♂️ And what's up with the flood footage - it looked like a war zone out there! I hope everyone involved is okay and that they can figure out what went wrong so it doesn't happen again.

ugh, i was just watching a vlog of some dude who went on an epic road trip across europe 🚗🌏, and now this is all anyone's talking about. like, china's got some serious issues with infrastructure, no doubt about it... but don't they also have like, the fastest trains in the world or something? 🚂🕰️ i mean, priorities, right? anyway, did you see that vlog? the guy was driving a sweet old van and just took off into the mountains... totally breathtaking stuff.

Ugh, just another thing that goes wrong under the radar 🙄. I mean, a brand new bridge collapsing is super concerning, but when you think about it, isn't it kinda suspicious that they were opening it so soon after its grand opening? Like, did no one do a decent test run or check for potential issues beforehand?

And yeah, safety and quality are definitely big concerns here 🤔. China's been doing some massive infrastructure projects lately and I'm not sure how effective their oversight is. It's like they're trying to catch up with the rest of the world, but at what cost? We should be worried about these kinds of incidents before it's too late 💸.

I'd love to see some answers from the authorities on this one 🤷‍♀️. What led to this collapse and how are they planning to fix it? Transparency is key here, you know?

🤦‍♂️ This is just insane! I mean, they've just opened the bridge and already it's collapsing? What kind of quality control were they using? And now people are stuck on the bridge, like what if there was a bigger flood or something? It's not even 24 hours and the whole thing has to be shut down. This is a total disaster waiting to happen... I'm seriously worried about the safety of all these vehicles and emergency services. Can't they just take their time and make sure everything is good before opening it? 🚨

lol what a great way to kick off 2025 - with a giant bridge collapse! 🤦‍♂️ I mean, who needs a grand opening celebration when you can just have a partial collapse instead? 😂 And poor Jinjiang Bridge, it's like "Hey, I'm all done being built, now let me go splat in the river" 💔. It's like they say, 'you build it, you maintain it', but apparently not China's engineers 🤷‍♂️.

I guess this is what they mean by ' infrastructure' - a bridge that can't even handle a little water! 🌊 But seriously though, whoa, how did this happen? Did the government say "screw it, let's just build something shiny"? 😂

this is getting ugly 🚨🌉 just imagine all those vehicles stranded on that bridge, people could've been hurt or worse... 2025 already showing us some crazy infrastructure issues - we should be seeing more investment in maintenance & quality control instead of just building new stuff 💸🔧 stats-wise, china's got some serious catching up to do if they wanna keep up with global standards when it comes to safety & sustainability 🌎 did you know that the average lifespan of a chinese highway is around 20-30 years? that's insane! 🤯 and don't even get me started on flood risk management - china's got some serious work to do on preventing disasters like this from happening in the future 📈 according to reports, the jinjiang bridge was designed to withstand floods, but clearly, that wasn't the case... 43% of china's infrastructure projects are currently under review due to safety concerns 🚨🔴 btw, have you checked out the latest data on chinese infrastructure development? it's wild!

idk if its a good or bad thing that china has so many new roads & bridges popping up everywhere 🤔 - on one hand u got these fancy modern structures that should make life easier for people, but on the other hand ur just as likely to have them collapse like this and put lives at risk 🚨. cant say im surprised tho, china's been investing so much in infrastructure lately it was only a matter of time before something went wrong 🤦‍♂️. maybe they shouldve just stuck with what they knew worked instead of trying to build all these new things 🙃.

😕 just saw that new bridge in southern China partially collapsed after like 3 days 🤯 can't believe it! I mean, I know infrastructure can be sketchy but a new bridge opening and already collapsing? 😳 what's going on?! The footage looks super intense, all the cars just screeching to a halt and stuff. Hope everyone got out safely tho 💕 gotta wonder how they're gonna fix this, is it even safe to cross until then? 🚨 I'm sending good vibes to the people affected by this & hoping the gov puts in place some proper checks to prevent such incidents from happening again 🤞

🚨🌉 What a worrying turn of events! This new bridge in southern China was supposed to be a game-changer for traffic congestion, but it looks like it's going to take some serious fixing 🤦‍♂️. I'm not surprised, though - we've been hearing about issues with infrastructure projects in China lately, and this just adds fuel to the fire 🔥.

I think it's really important that officials get under the hood (no pun intended 😅) and figure out what went wrong here. Was it a design flaw? Poor construction materials? Inadequate testing? Whatever the reason, we need to know so we can learn from our mistakes 🤔.

The public is right to be concerned - who wants to drive on a bridge that's been deemed "not safe"? 😬 It's not just about the bridge itself, either; it's about the precedent it sets for future projects. Do we want China to be building roads and bridges with subpar safety standards? 🚫

I'm keeping an eye on this story - fingers crossed that some serious changes are made to ensure something like this never happens again 💪!

🤯 just saw this news about the new bridge in southern china collapsing like what was expected? this is not a surprise at all 🚨 chinese infrastructure is always been a mess, people knew it but still got greenlight for projects. now we know why they didn't put enough money into safety protocols 😬 and now its all over socials, another case of china's "made in china" myth not holding up to scrutiny 🤦‍♂️

I'm shocked that a new bridge just opened and already it's collapsing like that 🤯... I mean, isn't it supposed to be some kind of symbol of China's engineering prowess or something? The fact that it's causing more traffic congestion than relieving it is just, like, super concerning. And what's up with the rush to open it without even testing it thoroughly first? It's not like they're trying to hide anything or anything 🙅‍♂️... still, gotta wonder if this is just a case of them being too ambitious and cutting corners to get it done ASAP.

And now that it has collapsed, I'm sure we'll see some pretty hefty fines and penalties slapped on whoever was responsible for the oversight. Which, let's be real, probably wasn't anyone in particular... but still, gotta hold people accountable for this kind of thing, right? The fact that authorities are already calling for greater accountability and oversight just goes to show that they know something went wrong 🤷‍♂️.

Anyway, I'm all for the public speaking up and demanding answers about how this happened. It's not like we're asking for much... just some basic safety standards and maybe a few more tests before they open it up to the public, you know?

Ugh dont believe anything china says abt infrastructure projects lol theyre always like "we have the best engineers" but no one sees behind the scenes its all just a facade 🤣 anyway thats exactly whats happening here - a brand new bridge cant even last 3 days without collapsing and now were supposed to trust them with our lives?🙄 i mean what kind of quality control is this? chinese government needs to take responsibility for these catastrophic failures theyre putting innocent people in harm's way over some fancy infrastructure project 🚧💔

I'm getting major vibes of "what were they thinking?" 😱🤯 like, how does a brand new bridge collapse just days after it opens? I mean, I know infrastructure projects can be complex and risk-y, but come on! 🙄 It's all about prioritizing safety and doing things right, you feel? And now we're seeing the consequences... it's not looking good for China's reputation. 🤦‍♂️🚧 Anyone else worried about what this means for future projects? 🤔

omg this is crazy 😱 can you believe a new bridge just opens and then collapses days later?! 🤯 i mean china has been doing so much infrastructure development lately and it's like they're not even testing these things before launching them 🚧😬

i feel bad for the people who were on the bridge when it collapsed, must've been super scary 😨 what if someone got hurt? 🤕 the thing is, i'm sure china will get to the bottom of this and figure out what went wrong 💡 but still, it's a major concern about their construction projects 🤔

i think we should be paying attention to these kinds of incidents because they can give us valuable insights into how things are really being managed over there 📊 maybe there's something to be learned from china's approach to infrastructure development 🤝

🚨😱 I'm shocked that a brand new bridge just collapsed like that! It's crazy to think about all the people who were stuck on it when it happened. The fact that it was flooded with water makes me wonder if they really tested it before opening it to traffic. 🌊💦

I don't know what's going on in China right now, but infrastructure projects seem like a huge priority for the government. I mean, you'd think that building something as big and complex as a new bridge would be done with more caution and attention to detail... 🤔😒

It's not just about the safety of the people using it though, it's also about the money they spent on it! Like, if someone's road collapses, who pays for the repairs? And what kind of accountability are we talking about here? I'm all for transparency and oversight, but sometimes you gotta wonder if anyone's actually holding anyone accountable 🤷‍♀️

🤔 This just gets weirder... think about it, a brand new bridge just opens its doors, everyone's all excited, and then BAM! It collapses like it was always meant to. What if there's some kind of tech malfunction or even sabotage? I mean, have you seen the footage of that bridge flooding? It looks super suspicious. And what about those emergency services rushing in right away? Was that a coordinated effort or just a coincidence? 🚨 China's all like "oh no, let's investigate" but I'm not buying it. There's gotta be more to this story than meets the eye...
