Mother of Flies review – horror in the woods as house guests are microdosed with psychedelics

Mother of Flies: A Descent into Madness in the Woods

In the latest addition to the folk-horror canon, Mother of Flies, director Adam Poser and his co-writer wife, John Adams, have crafted a film that is equal parts unsettling and fascinating. The story follows Mickey, a college student struggling with cancer, who answers a mysterious summons from Solveig, a mysterious woman living in the woods, accompanied by her widowed father Jake.

As Mickey arrives at Solveig's remote forest home, she is met with an eerie atmosphere, where the lines between reality and fantasy blur. The Adams-Poser family, known for their avant-garde style, have outdone themselves this time, delivering a film that is visually striking and professional. However, some may find the pacing uneven, as certain sequences feel like padding to build tension.

The real star of the show is Solveig, played by Toby Poser, who delivers an unnerving performance as the enigmatic hostess. Her character's obsession with psychedelics and her unsettling demeanor make for a truly unnerving experience. The visuals are equally impressive, featuring a mix of realistic and fantastical elements that add to the overall sense of unease.

The film's climax is both disturbing and thought-provoking, as Mickey's journey descends into madness. While some may find the script pretentious at times, it's clear that the Adams-Poser family are pushing boundaries with their unique vision. Mother of Flies is a film that will appeal to fans of folk-horror and those who enjoy unconventional storytelling.

In short, Mother of Flies is a gripping and unsettling film that showcases the Adams-Poser family's signature style. While it may not be perfect, its thought-provoking themes and unnerving atmosphere make for a truly memorable viewing experience. If you're a fan of folk-horror or just looking for something new to watch, Mother of Flies is definitely worth checking out.

I'm so intrigued by this film 🤯... the idea of a mysterious woman in the woods who's into psychedelics and stuff is like straight out of a horror movie 😱. The visuals look crazy impressive too - I love how they blended realistic and fantastical elements to create this weird, unsettling atmosphere. But what really caught my attention was Toby Poser's performance as Solveig - he's so unnerving! 👻 It's like you can tell he's hiding something behind those creepy eyes 😳. I'm not sure if I'll actually watch the whole film, but it's definitely piqued my interest and I might give it a try...

omg have u seen this new movie mother of flies? 🎥 it's like nothing i've ever seen before! the atmosphere in that forest home is straight up unsettling 😨 and Toby Poser's performance as solveig is literally unnerving 🤯 her character is so messed up but in a good way, like you can't look away from her 🙅‍♀️ the visuals are wild too, it's like they took every weird dream and put it into this movie 🌙. the only thing that keeps me from giving it 10/10 is that some parts feel a bit slow, but honestly it's still worth watching if u're into folk-horror or just want to see something new 🎬

I gotta say, I'm totally underwhelmed by this film 🤔. It sounds like just another pretentious folk-horror flick trying to be artsy and unsettling, but really it's just a bunch of trippy nonsense that's more confusing than frightening 😒. And don't even get me started on the pacing - if they were worried about padding, maybe they should've trimmed down the script and gotten straight to the point 📝. I mean, I'm all for pushing boundaries in film, but sometimes less is more, you know? 💁‍♀️

I'm so hyped about this new film Mother of Flies 🎥👀. The atmospheric tension in the woods feels so real, it's like you're right there with Mickey 😬. Toby Poser as Solveig is mind-blowing, I love how unsettling he is without being too over-the-top 😲. And that psychedelic vibe? It adds this whole other level of unease to the film 🌿. What really gets me though is how it explores the theme of mental breakdown - it's so raw and honest 💔. Now, I'm not gonna lie, some parts felt a bit draggy for me 🤯, but overall I think it's a game-changer in the folk-horror genre 🔥. Give it a watch if you're feeling adventurous! 👍

I gotta say, this new movie "Mother of Flies" is freaky man 🤯. The way the story jumps around between reality and fantasy is like you're walking through a weird dream, and I mean that in a good way 😴. The visuals are insane, it's like they took all these cool effects and just ran with them 🎥. The lead actress Toby Poser as Solveig is chilling, she's got this whole mystic vibe going on that's really unnerving 💀.

I'm not gonna lie, some parts of the movie feel a bit slow or meandering, but I think that's kinda intentional, like they're building up to something 😐. The ending is crazy intense and made me go "huh?" for days after watching it 🤔. Overall, if you're into folk-horror or just want something new to watch, I'd def give this one a shot 👍. It's not perfect, but it's definitely weird and wild 🌪️.

idk why ppl r gonna say this film is pretentious tho 🤔 i mean, its not like its tryin 2 be deep 4 the sake of bein deep lol the way its explores themes of mental health & trauma is actually really relatable & well done tbh also, gotta say, solveig's character is straight up terrifying 😱 & her performance is insane toboe poser's got game 🎮

🤯 I was totally on edge during the whole movie, it's like they took all my anxiety and turned it into film 🎬. The visuals were insane, especially with the psychedelic stuff 🌈. Toby Poser as Solveig was seriously unnerving 😳, I couldn't look away even when she was being super creepy 👻. The pacing might be a bit wonky for some people but I think that's what made it feel so real? Like, it's not just some scripted drama, it's like you're right there with Mickey in the woods 🌲. Overall, I'd say Mother of Flies is more like an experience than a traditional movie 👍.

Just watched this new flick "Mother of Flies" and I'm still reeling 🤯 it's like they took all the weird stuff from your dreams and put it on screen 😴 the visuals are straight fire 🔥 Toby Poser as Solveig is seriously unsettling, like you're not sure if he's supposed to be scary or just really awkward 😂 but for real, this film is a wild ride that'll keep you on edge till the very end 👻 anyone else seen it? 🤔

I gotta say, this film sounds super intense! I mean, a college student with cancer answering a mysterious summons from some chick in the woods? 🤯 That's like, straight out of a horror novel! But what really caught my attention was that it's not just about the scares, it's also got some deep themes going on. I'm all for pushing boundaries and exploring the human psyche, as long as it's done thoughtfully. The Adams-Poser family definitely know how to create an atmosphere, with those visuals being like nothing you've ever seen before! 🎥 However, I do hope they cut back on some of that pacing padding – a little more focus on Mickey's journey would make the whole thing even more impactful. Still, if you're in for something weird and unsettling, Mother of Flies is definitely worth checking out... but don't say I didn't warn you! 😱

🤯 I mean, think about it, folks... what happens when we venture into the unknown? When we leave our comfort zones and enter the woods of our own minds? We gotta confront the things that scare us, that make us question reality. 🌳 That's exactly what Mickey does in this film, and let me tell you, it's a wild ride! But here's the thing: are we brave enough to face our own demons? Or do we try to run away from them like Jake does in the movie? 🏃‍♂️ It's all about facing your fears head-on and being willing to take that first step into the abyss. And trust me, it's a journey worth taking... or at least, it'll make for some crazy conversations around the watercooler 😂

omg u guys i just watched mother of flies & it was SO unsettling 🐜😳 the visuals were insane but at times felt like they were dragging out certain scenes 4 too long idk about the pacing but the ending tho 🤯 it's like ur mind is trying 2 process what's happening & then suddenly everythin' falls apart the actress who plays solveig is straight up unnerving lol Toby Poser u r so talented 😂 i gotta say though, i love how they're pushing boundaries with their storytelling, even if it means some ppl might think its pretentious idc tho cuz the themes & atmosphere are just really thought-provoking anyway, def gonna recommend this 2 anyone who likes folk-horror or is just lookin 4 somethin new 2 watch

I just watched this "folk-horror" film and I'm still trying to scrub the visuals from my brain 🤯. Like, who needs that much trippy stuff in one movie? 😅 But seriously, the main chick's descent into madness was pretty intense, even if it did feel a bit like she was stuck in some kind of never-ending nightmare loop 🔪. Toby Poser as the hostess was straight up chilling 🎃. The pacing was a bit wonky, but I guess that's just part of the weirdness factor 😒. All in all, not for the faint of heart, but if you're into that sorta thing, it might be worth a watch 👀. Just don't say I didn't warn you... 😅

Just watched this new film "Mother of Flies" and I'm still reeling from it 😱🌲 The atmosphere in the woods was seriously creepy and the visuals were insane 🤯 Toby Poser as Solveig was so unsettling, like she's hiding something under her skin 😳 And that ending... wow, just wow 💥 It's like they took all these different vibes and mashed them together into this weirdly beautiful film 🌈 I can see why some people might find it pretentious, but for me, the weirdness was part of its charm 🤪 Would def recommend to fans of folk-horror or anyone looking for something offbeat 🎥

I just watched this crazy film 'Mother of Flies' 🕷️🌲 and I'm still reeling from it... the atmosphere in those woods is straight up unsettling 😱 and Toby Poser's performance as Solveig is like, whoa... she's got this whole mystique thing going on that makes you feel all uneasy inside 💀. And the pacing can be a bit wonky at times, but honestly, it adds to the overall sense of unease 🤯.
