NBA: Thunder rout Lakers while Curry scores season best in Warriors’ win

The Oklahoma City Thunder dealt a crushing blow to the Los Angeles Lakers, routing them 121-92 in a lopsided victory at home. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 30 points and nine assists, while Isaiah Joe chipped in with 21 more as the Thunder improved their league-best record to 12-1.

The Lakers, meanwhile, were held to just 40.3 percent shooting by Oklahoma City's stifling defense, led by Lu Dort's absence due to an injury. Luka Doncic, who was averaging 37.1 points coming into the game, was restricted to 19 points on 7-for-20 shooting.

Austin Reaves managed only 13 points for Los Angeles, and the team was unable to get close to Oklahoma City's total as they struggled to score in the second half. The Thunder took control early, with a 30-18 lead at the end of the first quarter before extending their advantage to 70-38 by halftime.

The Lakers' lack of depth was exposed in the third quarter, when Gilgeous-Alexander drove past defenders and fired a behind-the-back pass to Joe for a three-pointer as time expired. The Thunder's bench also contributed to their lead, with several players scoring in double figures.

In other news from around the NBA, Stephen Curry exploded for 46 points, his season high, as the Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 125-120. Curry's fourth three-pointer gave Golden State a 74-73 lead with five minutes left in the third quarter, and he finished with 29 more points in the second half.

Curry had a remarkable performance, going 9-for-17 from beyond the arc and making all nine of his free-throw attempts. His teammate Jimmy Butler added 28 points and eight assists for Golden State, while Moses Moody chipped in with 19 more.

The Spurs were led by Victor Wembanyama's triple-double, but it wasn't enough to overcome Curry's hot shooting. Wembanyama had 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, but his team struggled from the free-throw line, converting just 14 of 16 attempts.

In another notable matchup, the Los Angeles Lakers lost for the second time this season without LeBron James, who practiced with the team's G League affiliate earlier in the day. The Thunder's victory improved their record to 12-1, while the Warriors and Spurs each suffered losses that kept them tied for third place in their respective divisions.

With several teams jockeying for position in the Western Conference standings, these games will likely have a significant impact on the NBA's playoff picture as the season enters its second half.

This Lakers loss is crazy! 🤯 They got destroyed by Oklahoma City and it's not like they're used to playing against teams that can shut them down like that. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just went off for 30 points and nine assists, and Isaiah Joe added another 21. I think the Thunder's defense really had something to do with this one... Lu Dort was out due to injury, but still, they managed to hold Luka Doncic to just 19 points.

I'm a bit surprised by how bad Austin Reaves performed, though. He usually scores more than that. And it's no secret the Lakers don't have as much depth as some of their rivals. You can tell when a team is struggling with that... they always seem so fragile. Anyway, at least Stephen Curry had an epic game for the Warriors! 🤩 46 points from three-point range? Unreal!

the thunder is killin it right now! 😂 shai gilgeous-alexander is on fire with 30 points and 9 assists, and isaiah joe is chipping in big time too 🤯 40.3 percent shooting by the lakers? that's crazy talk 💁‍♂️ lu Dort might be out, but his defense is still giving the lakers fits 🙅‍♂️ austin reaves can't even get close to oklahoma city's total 🤔 what's going on with the lakers? they need some depth ASAP ⚠️

omg u wont bliev wut happnd 2 da Lakers last nite 😂 they got ROASTED by okc 🤣 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was on FIRE 🔥 w/ 30 points & 9 assists!!! and Isaiah Joe wasn't 2 shabby either w/ 21 more points 🤯 i think its clear dat da Thunder r da team 2 beat rn 👊

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, the Lakers' struggles are getting real 🤯. They're like, 12-1 and they get taken down by a team that's still rebuilding? It's not exactly a good look for them. I mean, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a beast on the court and Isaiah Joe can score from anywhere 🌐. The Thunder's defense was on point too, holding Luka Doncic to just 19 points. That's gotta sting for him 🤕. It'll be interesting to see how they bounce back, but right now, they're in a tough spot.

And can we talk about Stephen Curry? 😲 He's on fire this season! 46 points and 9 three-pointers? The dude is unstoppable 🔥. Golden State's got some serious momentum going right now, especially with Jimmy Butler chipping in 28 points and eight assists. They're definitely a team to watch for the rest of the season 📺.

But back to the Lakers... they need to figure out their game plan ASAP. Losing to teams like the Thunder isn't exactly what you want on your resume 😬. With LeBron James out, it's like they're scrambling to find their identity. They can't keep relying on one guy to carry them through every game 💪.

lol what a blowout 🤯 Oklahoma City is on fire right now and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the charge 💪 he's playing some crazy ball with 30 points and 9 assists already and they're still cruising to a win... meanwhile Luka Doncic was held to just 19 points? that's wild 🤔 and Austin Reaves only managed 13 points for LA which is super weird considering how dominant they usually are 💥

🤯 can't believe the Lakers are getting destroyed like this they need to figure out what's going on with their team and get LBJ back ASAP this Shai Gilgeous-Alexander kid is straight fire 💥 he's leading that team to a 12-1 record and people are sleeping on them... meanwhile, Luka Doncic is having an off game 🤔 and the Lakers can't score anything

OMG 🤯 The Thunder is on FIRE 🔥 I'm telling u, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a LEAGUE WIDE SUPERSTAR 😲 30 points and 9 assists? That's like, insane! And Isaiah Joe just chillin' for 21 points too 🙄. The Lakers are just getting DESTROYED 💀. I mean, they can't even get close to Oklahoma City's score 🤦‍♂️. This game was like a clinic on defense, with Lu Dort's absence and all 🚫. Luka Doncic couldn't do squat 😒. The Thunder's bench is like a well-oiled machine 💪. And Curry had 46 points?! That's just crazy 🔥! He's like the GOAT or something 🤩. Warriors are on fire too, but Spurs got unlucky from FTs 🤦‍♂️. This season is shaping up to be EPIC 🎉!

come on lakers ur squad is whack right now they cant even deal with the thunders 40% shooting lol and thats without Lu Dort and shai gilgeous-alexander was straight fire 🤣 he got 30+ points and 9 assists that's like a triple double bro. and what can u say about luka dontcic he had 19 points on 7-20 from the field 😂 and the thunder took control early they played good defense and just destroyed them in the second half 🚫

the Lakers are really struggling without lebron james 🤔💔 i mean, it's not like they didn't see this coming but still, 12-1 is crazy for the Thunder lol what's up with luka dontcic's shot though? was it the defence or his game plan that stopped him from getting those points in double digits 👀

Wow 🤯, 12-1 is insane! Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is on fire 🔥, and the Thunder's defense is looking solid 💪. They really exposed the Lakers' lack of depth 🤦‍♂️. And can you believe Luka Doncic was held to 19 points? 😲 The Golden State Warriors' performance from Stephen Curry is just incredible, he's a machine 🚀! But this Thunder win will definitely give them some serious momentum 💥.

OMG, did you see that Lakers game 🤯? They got absolutely destroyed by the Thunder 😂. I mean, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a beast on the court! 💪 He's like a one-man show out there. And Isaiah Joe getting 21 points off the bench was lit 🔥. The Lakers just couldn't contain them.

And can we talk about Luka Doncic's game? 🤔 He's normally so clutch, but tonight he was held to 19 points on 7-20 shooting. Not bad, I guess... 😐 Austin Reaves only scored 13 and that's just not enough for a team like the Lakers.

But hey, at least Stephen Curry exploded for 46 points 🚀! That's what we call a performance 💥. And Jimmy Butler was right there with him, 28 points and 8 assists. Golden State is looking strong this season.

The NBA is getting more intense by the day 💪, and these games are going to have major playoff implications. I'm hyped for the second half of the season 🎉!

🤔 The Thunder's decisive win over the Lakers showcases a formidable team dynamic, particularly with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading by example 🌟. His ability to control the game and make clutch plays is undeniable. Meanwhile, the Lakers' inability to adapt to Oklahoma City's stifling defense highlights the importance of depth and versatility 🔁. It's interesting to note how teams like Golden State, which have shown remarkable consistency throughout their season, are now being tested by rivalries like this one 💥

OMG u gotta see this!! 🤯 Oklahoma City is on fire right now! They're 12-1 and taking down some of the top teams in the league. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is literally unstoppable, I mean 30 points and 9 assists? 😲 And Lu Dort's absence didn't even make a difference for LA. The Lakers' defense was straight fire 🔥. Luka Doncic only scored 19 and Austin Reaves managed just 13. What's going on with those guys?! 🤔

lol what's up with the Lakers rn? they just got destroyed by the Thunder and it's not even close 🤣 Luka Doncic is like "oh I'll just chill for 19 points" 😴 and Austin Reaves can't even do better than that? 13 points? yikes! and don't even get me started on their defense, they got torched by the Thunder's offense 💥 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is like a point guard god, and Lu Dort's absence didn't even matter 🙅‍♂️

omg this Oklahoma City Thunder are on fire!!! Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is like a superhero out there he's so clutch and his assists game is insane 30 points and 9 dimes lol I love how Isaiah Joe stepped up too, those two are like the ultimate duo 😂👏

omg what a beating the Lakers got 😱👀 12-1 record is crazy for the Thunder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was on fire with 30 points and 9 assists 🤩! they played so well together as a team and that behind-the-back pass to Isaiah Joe in the third quarter was insane 💥. the Lakers just couldn't keep up, especially without Luka Doncic who only scored 19 points 🤔. but you know what's even crazier? Stephen Curry went off for 46 points and his season high! 🔥 he's like a shooting machine from beyond the arc 🎯.
