New film adaptation of Camus's L'Étranger opens old colonial wounds

🤔 I think Ozon did a good job in tackling this super tricky adaptation 🎥. The controversy is understandable given how raw and sensitive the topic of colonialism can be 💪. But at the same time, some might say that adding more depth to Djemila's character would've been a nice touch 🤗. I mean, Camus's work has always been about exploring the absurdity of human existence, so it's cool to see how different directors interpret that in their own way 🔍. The fact that opinions are mixed just shows how much thought and care went into this adaptation 💡.

🤔 just watched this movie adaptation of L'Étranger and i gotta say its got me thinking 🕰️. how hard is it to adapt a classic novel without losing the essence of the story? 📚 i mean, camus's original work is all about absurdity and exploring the human condition 🤷‍♂️. but does that mean we gotta shy away from talking about colonialism and its impact on people's lives? 💔 maybe ozon's approach was a bit too cautious, but at the same time, i can see why he wanted to add more depth to djemila's character 👀. it's like camus's work is this enigma that we can all project our own interpretations onto 🤯... anyway, gotta keep an open mind and have a respectful discussion about these kinds of topics 💬 [link to a thread on Twitter about the movie adaptation](https://twitter.com/user/status/1234567890)

I think this whole thing is a classic case of PC gone wild 🤣. The director, François Ozon, tries to tackle a complex topic like colonialism, but ends up watering it down by giving more screen time to the Arab character. It's like he's trying to appease everyone and make everything okay again 🙄. Meanwhile, Catherine Camus is calling him out for altering her dad's original vision. I mean, can't we just leave some things alone? The fact that her daughter feels that Ozon's approach is a "blatant betrayal" says a lot about the sensitivity of this topic. It's not an easy subject to tackle, but at least someone should try 🤔.
