New SJ DOCA Festival features holiday light displays inspired by local children's drawings

San Jose Welcomes the DOCA Festival, a Holiday Light Display Inspired by Local Children's Creativity

The South Bay is aglow with festive lights as the new DOCA Festival officially kicked off its holiday season. For the first time this year, the festival features an immersive display of light and art that pays tribute to the creativity of local children.

Co-founders Wan Zhao and Yixin envisioned a unique experience that brings families together, inspired by their inner-children's imagination and curiosity. "The vision of DOCA Festival is very simple," Zhao said, "see the world through our inner-children." The festival features five acres of twinkling lights, six magical zones, and more than 40 handmade attractions designed with local kids' art.

An art contest held earlier this year brought together children's drawings that were later transformed into giant installations. "It's very magical to see that happen," Zhao said, "and see the kids' creativity shine." The festival team worked closely with the artists to bring their imaginative designs to life.

Visitors can explore a range of family-friendly experiences, from interactive light displays to festive zones and seasonal activities. With events planned throughout the holiday season, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

As another traditional holiday light display opens in the South Bay this weekend, the DOCA Festival promises to be a must-visit attraction for families looking for a unique and memorable experience. The festival's creators hope to inspire visitors to reconnect with their own inner child and create lasting memories with loved ones.

omg is that so cool 🀩! i was just thinking about how much my little sibling loves twinkly lights, this sounds like the perfect activity for them πŸŽ„... wait what's the deal with these giant installations made from kids' drawings? are they like, super expensive to make or something πŸ€‘ and do you think it's weird that people are using their inner-child as a theme in a festival? i mean, isn't that just, like, basic psychology stuff πŸ˜‚... anyhoo, i need to check this out with my fam ASAP! πŸŽ‰

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s really cool that they did an art contest where kids got to share their drawings and then those designs were turned into real-life installations πŸŽ¨πŸŒƒ. It's like, the festival is basically a big showcase of what kids imagine the world should be like 😊. And I love how the co-founders Wan Zhao and Yixin are all about bringing back that sense of wonder and imagination. I mean, who doesn’t want to relive their childhood holiday magic? πŸŽ…οΈ The whole thing just feels really heartwarming and fun, and I can see why it's going to be a must-visit for families this holiday season ❀️

πŸŽ„ I'm so down for this one! It's amazing how they're involving the community in such a cool way - like, I love that they took the kids' art contest drawings and turned them into these massive installations 🀯. It's just so heartwarming to see people bringing their imagination to life like that. And can you imagine seeing all those twinkling lights with your own family? 🌟 It sounds like a real treat for the whole fam! I'm def gonna have to check it out with my crew πŸ‘ͺ this holiday season.

πŸŽ„ I love how San Jose is embracing its inner kid with this amazing festival! It's so heartwarming to see the creativity of local children being showcased in a massive light display 🌟 The idea that the founders wanted to bring families together by inspiring them to see the world through their inner child is just genius. I mean, who wouldn't want to explore an entire five acres of twinkling lights and magical zones with their loved ones? 😍 It's also amazing how they involved local kids in the art process, turning their drawings into giant installations - it's like a dream come true for any kid (and let's be real, adults too πŸ˜‰)

I just love how they did it! They actually let the kids have a say in what the lights looked like πŸŽ‰πŸ‘§πŸΌ. I mean, who better to get inspiration from than our little ones? It's so heartwarming to see their creativity shine through and bring some magic to the festival. And it's not just about the lights, the whole vibe of the place feels really special – all that twinkling stuff is like a big ol' hug ✨. I'm gonna have to take the kiddos there this weekend, can't wait for us to make some memories together πŸŽ„.

OMG, have you seen the light show at DOCA Festival? It's like someone took all my childhood dreams and turned them into a 5-acre wonderland 🀩! I mean, who wouldn't want to see giant installations made from kids' art? That's just me being a big kid at heart πŸ˜‚. And the fact that it's inspired by local kiddos is just the icing on the cake – or should I say, the sprinkles on the hot chocolate πŸŽ…οΈ? It's so cool that they're bringing families together and letting them tap into their inner child (because let's be real, we all still need a little bit of that magic in our lives πŸ’«). Can't wait to check it out with my own family – it's going to be a blast from the past...with lights! 🎊

πŸŽ„ I'm so down for this! A light display inspired by kids' creativity sounds like so much fun 🀩. As someone who's been there, done that, and got the t-shirt (aka had too many sugar highs from holiday lights as a kid), it's amazing to see adults get back into that childlike wonder. The idea of seeing the world through our inner-child is such a beautiful concept πŸ’«. I'm excited to check out this festival with my own little ones (or let's be real, my inner kids πŸ˜‚) and experience the magic for ourselves ✨

omg i am literally soooo here for this 🀩! a whole festival dedicated to the creativity of local kids' art is like, totally genius 🎨🌟 the fact that they took their art contest winners' drawings and turned them into giant installations is insane πŸ’₯ i mean who wouldn't want to see a childhood dream come true in person?! 🌈 it's all about spreading joy and making memories with loved ones during the holiday season, which is exactly what this festival is all about ❀️
