NFC championship game: Los Angeles Rams 27-31 Seattle Seahawks – as it happened

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks clashed in a thrilling NFC Championship game that ultimately fell short for the Rams. Despite a valiant effort, Matthew Stafford's team came up just shy, losing 31-27.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold led his team with 346 yards and three touchdowns, earning praise from pundits and fans alike. His poise under pressure was a hallmark of the game, as he consistently evaded defenders and picked apart the Rams' secondary.

In contrast, Stafford struggled to find his rhythm, completing just 19-of-37 passes for 374 yards and no scores. He was sacked several times and couldn't muster enough production from his receivers to keep pace with Seattle's high-powered offense.

One play that will be replayed endlessly is a would-be touchdown catch by Los Angeles receiver Nacua, which was ruled incomplete due to a foot fault. The decision sparked outrage among Rams fans and sparked debate about the officiating.

The turning point came when Seattle defensive back Darrelle Revis intercepted Stafford on fourth down with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. Darnold capitalized on the momentum shift, leading his team to a score that put them up by four points with just over two minutes left.

However, the Seahawks held firm, and their defense proved equal to the task in shutting down the Rams' final possession. Walker, who had been a workhorse all day, lost yardage on each of his carries, leaving Seattle's defense with no choice but to ice the game.

The loss marked the end of an era for the Rams, who will now face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XL. For Darnold and the Seahawks, this victory marks their first NFC Championship since 2010.

I don’t usually comment on sports stuff, but I gotta say, that game was CRAZY 🔥! I mean, what a difference maker that interception by Darrelle Revis... it really swung the momentum in Seattle's favor 🔄. And can we talk about how much drama that one incomplete pass call added to the game? 🤯 I feel bad for the Rams fans who were just so invested in that play 💔.

Sam Darnold, man... he just played like a pro out there 🙌! His composure under pressure was insane 💥. And yeah, Stafford just had one of those games where everything didn't go right ⚠️.

But you know what's even crazier? The Rams are moving on to the Super Bowl now 🤯. I guess all good things must come to an end... 👋

idk about matt stafford, dude was completely off his game 🤦‍♂️. sam darnold on the other hand, he's a total boss 💪. that interception by darrelle revis was a game changer, no doubt about it 🔥. but u gotta feel for ramz fans, they're gonna be salty about that one incomplete pass 😔. walker did his job tho, didn't wanna see him gettin destroyed out there 🤕. either way, pats vs seahawks in the super bowl? can't wait to see what happens 📺💥

Ugh man, I'm still fuming about that last play Nacua almost got that TD 🤯🏈! Can't believe the refs called it down, it was literally inches from the end zone! 👀 Now they gotta face Pats and it's gonna be tough, but I got faith in Stafford and Rams crew, we'll come back stronger 💪🔥

Ugh, what a rigged game if you ask me 🤔💡. I mean, Stafford was basically held hostage by those refs all game long 😒. That no-call on Nacua's catch still gives me the chills 😱. And don't even get me started on that questionable call by Darrelle Revis 🙄. It's clear to me that they were just trying to sway the momentum in Seattle's favor 🤝. And let's be real, if it weren't for some questionable officiating, we would've seen a whole different story unfold 😅. The Seahawks just got lucky, plain and simple 💸. But hey, I guess you can't blame them for winning, right? 😏

ugh man this one hurts me still thinking about that Nacua catch 🤯 what a joke, I mean i get it foot fault but come on refs arent perfect and you got to be honest with yourself. Stafford had some bad days like this before and he bounced back so i thought he would too. Darnold is a legit QB tho, he kept his cool when it mattered most 🤔

Dude I'm telling you something fishy happened at the end of that game 🐟... like, have you seen the replay of that interception? Revis just kinda floated on the field with his hands up and then grabs it outta thin air 🤣... it's like they wanted that play to happen. And what about that no-call on the foot fault? I mean, I know the refs are human and all, but come on! It's like they were trying to give Seattle an edge. And don't even get me started on the officiating in general 😒... it was like they were working overtime to make the Seahawks look good. And now they're going to the Super Bowl? No way, dude 🤑... that's just too convenient.

man, that was a wild game 🤯... i'm still trying to figure out what happened with that one Nacua catch... 1 yard short 😒, yeah right?... it's always the little things like that which can make all the difference in football games... and what's up with stafford not being able to find his receiver corps? 🤷‍♂️ they're getting paid millions of dollars and he can't seem to get them the ball?!... or maybe i'm just being too critical, but it seems like seattle played a better game overall... darnold was on fire 🔥, no question about that... anyways, super bowl xl is gonna be interesting... new england pats are always a force to be reckoned with 💪

Ugh, can't believe they got robbed by that foot fault call! I mean, come on, Nacua was clearly down with both feet and you're still gonna throw it up in the air? That's just a joke. And then to have Darrell Revis jump that interception... I'm so frustrated for the Rams right now. They had them right where they wanted them and then they just fell apart. Stafford's got some serious guts trying to make something happen, but when it counts, he just can't get it done 🤯💔

OMG, I'm still reeling from that game 🤯! The Rams just didn't seem to click with Stafford at the helm, and their receivers just weren't getting open in time 😩. And can we talk about that Nacua non-catch? Like, what even is a foot fault?! It's soooo frustrating when they get it wrong and it ruins an otherwise epic play 🤔.

But Seattle just played out of their minds on defense! Darrelle Revis coming up huge with the interception was clutch 💯. And that final defense by Walker was pure perfection 🔥... I mean, who can shut down a team like that for 2 whole minutes?! Mind blown 😲

awww man 🤕 that was such a bittersweet game for rams fans... i feel bad for matthew stafford he gave it his all but just couldn't quite get over the finish line 😔 sam darnold is definitely playing some amazing football right now, though! 🙌 and omg that would've been an insane touchdown catch by nacua 🤯 but sadly not meant to be 🤷‍♂️ anyway, i'm sure matthew will bounce back from this loss and come back stronger 💪

OH MAN, WHAT A GAME!!! 🏈😱 i cant believe the refs messed up on that nacua catch it was like they were blindfolded! BUT i gotta give props to sam darnold he played LIKE A BOSS out there! 💪 his poise and clutch gene are UNMATCHED 🤯 i mean, who else can make a comeback like that? AND REVIS IS THE REAL MVP INTERCEPTING STAFFORD WHEN IT MATTERED MOST 😲 THAT TURNING POINT WAS HUGE!

I think the refs really messed up on that one incomplete catch by Nacua 🤦‍♂️💔. That could've totally flipped the script for LA. Sam Darnold's calmness under pressure was insane 🔥👏, I don't know how he kept his cool with all those sacks coming at him 🤯🏃‍♂️. And that final defense by Seattle? 🔒💪 - they really sealed the deal for their first NFC title in 15 years 💥🎉. For the Rams, it's a tough pill to swallow but congrats to the Seahawks on their well-deserved win 🌟👏.
