I'm still trying to wrap my head around this news

... I mean, back in the 90s we used to think it was a no-brainer that fetal tissue would be used for research purposes - and yeah, some people were opposed to it back then too

. But now, it seems like the NIH is taking a step back and looking at it from a different angle.
I'm not sure if I agree with this decision or not... part of me thinks we should be doing everything in our power to find cures for diseases

, but on the other hand, can't we just use the tissue that's already been discarded? Like, think about all those miscarriages and abortions that happen every year - it seems like a no-brainer to just use that tissue instead of causing more controversy

I'm worried that this decision is gonna set back research for diseases that are still pretty much being held hostage by human health... Alzheimer's, diabetes, the list goes on

. I mean, vaccines can't be developed without fetal tissue, right? It feels like we're taking two steps forward and one step back
