Nurses at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital take young patients trick-or-treating - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

Young patients at Nicklaus Children's Hospital are trading in their hospital gowns for costumes and trick-or-treating with the help of dedicated nurses. The hospital, located in Southwest Miami-Dade, brought out the Halloween spirit by letting children dress up in their spookiest attire.

The event marked a special tradition that brings together patients and families with their medical team, providing a sense of normalcy during an otherwise gloomy holiday. "It's really important to give them a sense of normalcy while they're here at the hospital and they're able to enjoy their holiday," said Juliana Pereira for Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

The children were also treated to a Halloween parade and pumpkin decorating, adding to the festive atmosphere. For some, like Coco Mastrangelo, this was an opportunity to give back to the community. "This is special to me because my family has been doing charities for hospitals for as long as I can remember," she said.

As part of her charity work in Florida, Mastrangelo chose to participate at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, hoping to make a positive impact on the lives of young patients. The hospital's efforts to bring joy and normalcy to its young patients are truly heartwarming, providing a much-needed respite from the challenges they face.

Just saw this 😊 link about kids at Nicklaus Children's Hospital having a Halloween party in their hospital gowns instead of regular clothes! They're trick-or-treating with nurses and even have a pumpkin decorating station 🎃👻 It's so cool to see the medical team trying to bring some normalcy to the holidays for these young patients. I think it's amazing that Coco Mastrangelo is part of this charity work, giving back to the community like that 💖 [https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nickla...nicklaus-childrens-hospital-halloween-party/)

I just love seeing hospitals get creative with events like this! 🎃 It's amazing that these nurses are making such an effort to make Halloween special for the kids - it really says a lot about their dedication and compassion 😊. I mean, who wouldn't want to trade in their hospital gowns for a superhero cape and some candy? 🦸‍♀️ It's also great to see Coco Mastrangelo giving back to her community like that - it's a wonderful way to spread kindness and joy 💖. The fact that the kids get to participate in a Halloween parade and pumpkin decorating is just the icing on the cake (or should I say, the candy corn? 🍬). It really shows that even in tough situations, there's still room for a little bit of fun and normalcy ❤️.

I love that Nicklaus Children's Hospital is getting into the Halloween spirit with their costume party 🎃👻! It's such a great way to take kids' minds off their treatment and make them feel more at ease. But, I do think it's also worth considering some of the potential health implications of all that candy they'll be trick-or-treating for 🍬😷.

Still, it sounds like Coco Mastrangelo's involvement in this event is truly inspiring, and it's awesome that her family has been doing charity work for hospitals for years 💕. Maybe we could see more events like this popping up across the country? 🤔

The kids are going to have so much fun decorating pumpkins and participating in a Halloween parade - it's like they're forgetting they're even in the hospital! 😊

I love this idea! 🎃 Hospitals can be super scary for kids, especially during holidays like Halloween. It's amazing how something as simple as dressing up and trick-or-treating can bring so much joy to a child's life 💖. And it's awesome that Coco is giving back to the community by volunteering her time 🙏. Hospital staff really know how to spread some Halloween cheer 😊, I wish more places would do this kind of thing!

I just love this initiative by Nicklaus Children's Hospital 🎃👧👦! It's amazing how something as simple as Halloween can bring so much joy and normalcy to kids who are going through tough times in the hospital 😊. The fact that dedicated nurses are participating and even dressing up themselves is just awesome 👩‍⚕️! And Coco's story about giving back to her community is truly inspiring 🙏. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of kindness and compassion ❤️. I wish more hospitals could do something similar, it would definitely make a huge difference in the lives of young patients around the world 🌎.

omg i'm literally screaming how awesome is this!!! 💖🎃 nicklaus childrens hospital is literally the best and their halloween tradition for kids is giving me all the feels 😊 it's so cool that they get to dress up in costumes and have a parade and pumpkin decorating like normal kids 🤩 and coco mastrangelo is literally my spirit animal because she gives back to the community and volunteers her time at hospitals which is truly amazing 💕 i wish more people did stuff like this and spread kindness and love throughout the year, not just on halloween 😉

omg i love this idea 🎃👶 the hospital is totally doing it right by letting the kids dress up and have fun on halloween instead of just sitting in their rooms all day 🙅‍♀️ it's so cool that coco's charity work includes volunteering at nicklaus children's hospital too 💖 giving back to the community is everything especially when it's helping out sick kids who need a break from their treatments 🎉 can we make hospitals more fun and kid-friendly in general tho? 😂

🤔 I'm all for bringing some Halloween cheer to sick kids, but what's next? 🎃 Are we gonna have Christmas parties in July too? Or how about a Thanksgiving dinner in August? It seems like hospitals are trying to make every holiday feel special, but isn't it just gonna be confusing for the kids and their families? I mean, they're already dealing with so much stuff, can't they just get some actual medical attention for once? 🤷‍♀️ Still, I guess it's cool that Coco Mastrangelo is giving back to her community like that. 💖

I don't get why hospitals have to be so corporate about Halloween 🤔. Can't they just let kids dress up in whatever makes them happy without all the extra fuss? I mean, who needs a parade and pumpkin decorating when you've got sick kids needing actual medical attention? It's like they're trying to distract from the fact that hospitals are supposed to be serious places, not theme parks 😒. And what's with the charity work? Just because Coco thinks it's special to her doesn't mean everyone else has to jump on the bandwagon 🙄.

I mean what's up with this new Halloween costume swap thing at Nicklaus Children's Hospital? 🤔 I get that hospitals can be super gloomy and depressing for kids, but come on...letting them dress up like vampires or superheroes is kinda just a Band-Aid on the whole experience. Like, aren't there actual fun things they could be doing in their free time? And what about the parents? Are they getting a break too? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, I guess it's cool that some people are giving back to the community and all, but let's not get carried away here. Can we just have a normal Halloween instead of this costume swap gimmick? 😒

OMG 🎃💖 I just love that Nicklaus Children's Hospital is spreading Halloween cheer among their young patients! It's so cool that they're creating special traditions like this costume party & trick-or-treating - it's amazing for kids to feel normal and included during a holiday that can be super scary or overwhelming. And Coco's charity work to help out at the hospital? 💪 totally gives me chills! It's heartwarming to see people making a difference in these little lives ❤️

🤣 This is so cool! I'm living for how they're bringing Halloween spirit into a hospital where you'd think it would be all about getting better, not dressing up. It's like they know that even when we're sick, we still want to have fun and feel normal for once 😂. And Coco's charity work in Florida is amazing too! I wish more people did what she does - giving back to the community by volunteering at hospitals ❤️. These kids must be so happy having a special day where they get to trick-or-treat and enjoy some festive vibes 🎃👻.

I think it's so cool that Nicklaus Children's Hospital is bringing Halloween spirit to the kids who need it most! It's amazing how just letting them dress up in costumes and have some fun can brighten their day. The whole event sounds like a great way to bring families together with medical staff, and I'm sure the kids were totally stoked for the parade and pumpkin decorating 🎃👻. I love that Coco is giving back by participating in this charity work - it's awesome that she's carrying on her family's tradition! 🙌

👧🎃 I love how hospitals like Nicklaus Children's Hospital are making Halloween special for kids who spend most of their holiday stuck in a hospital bed. It's so thoughtful of them to dress up as superheroes or ghosts and then go trick-or-treating with the help of dedicated nurses 😊. For some parents, it's a chance to meet other families going through similar experiences, which can be really helpful. And Coco's charity work is amazing! 🤩 It's heartwarming to see people like her giving back to their community and making a positive impact on kids' lives. Hospitals are already so much to deal with, but by adding fun events like this, they're showing that even in tough times, there's still room for joy 💖

OMG u no I just got back from the most adorable petting zoo in my area 🐰🎃 it was like they had mini pigs and kittens running around and it was SO relaxing watching them play 😊 I swear, hospitals should be doing more fun stuff like this for kids during holidays... I mean, who says you can't have trick-or-treating in a hospital gown? 🤣

I love how hospitals can just take over Halloween like that 🎃😂 it's crazy how they've figured out that dressing up in costumes and doing trick-or-treating can actually be good for kids' mental health during a tough time... I mean, who doesn't love getting dressed up and having some fun, right? But seriously, I think it's amazing that the nurses are making an effort to bring joy to these kids. It's not always easy being in a hospital, especially when you're not feeling well 🤒👧🎃

I think it's so awesome that Nicklaus Children's Hospital is making Halloween a special time for kids in the hospital 🎃👶! It's not just about dressing up and trick-or-treating, but also about creating memories with their medical team. I mean, who wouldn't want to feel like they're part of something bigger than themselves on Halloween night? 😊 The fact that Coco chose to participate in a charity event at the hospital is truly inspiring - it's great to see young people like her giving back to the community 💖. It just goes to show that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life 🌟. And let's be real, who wouldn't want a Halloween parade and pumpkin decorating? 😄 It's just proof that with a little creativity, you can turn any hospital stay into a fun experience 👍!
