NY Gov. Hochul proposes amendments to Medical Aid in Dying Act awaiting her signature, sources say

I'm not sure I buy into this video recording thing... I mean, what if the patient has some kind of tech issues? Or they just can't be bothered to record themselves? 🤔 And a 7-day waiting period seems like an awful lot of time for someone who's literally dying. Like, what's the point of that? 🕰️ Can't we just get on with it and make sure those people don't have to suffer any longer than necessary? 💔 I'm all for making sure there are safeguards in place, but some of these proposed changes seem like they're more about politicking than actually helping people. 🤷‍♀️

I feel kinda bad about this whole Medical Aid in Dying Act thing 🤕. On one hand, I get it why people wanna make sure those who are terminally ill can pass away with dignity, but on the other hand, you gotta think about all the potential downsides, like, what if ppl are manipulated into doin' it? And, yeah, 7-day wait period sounds kinda harsh 🤷‍♀️. I'm not sure if Governor Hochul's proposed changes will make a big difference, but I guess only time (and her decision) will tell 👀

I'm all about caution here... 🤔 The whole idea of video recording requests feels a bit too much to me, you know? It's like they're trying to scrutinize every single patient's mental state before even considering death as an option. And what's up with the waiting period? A week is a decent amount of time for someone who's literally dying... it might give them second thoughts 🙅‍♀️. I'm not saying there shouldn't be safeguards in place, but do we really need to make things more complicated?

Wow 😮, 7-day waiting period? That sounds super strict, I feel like it might be too much for some patients who really need to end their suffering ASAP 💔. Interesting how all these states are having this same debate, maybe we can learn from each other 🤝.

💔 I'm so worried about the new amendments to NY's Medical Aid in Dying Act 🤕. A 7-day waiting period before patients can get life-ending meds is just too long, what if they're really ready to go? 🚨 And a video recording of the patient asking for it? That's just creepy 🎥... I mean, who wants to have their darkest thoughts recorded on camera? 😳 Not me, that's for sure. This whole thing just feels like a solution looking for a problem to me... can't we just focus on treating people with compassion and care instead of playing doctor/patient? 💊
