NY students would study Jan. 6 Capitol attack under pending bill

🤔 I gotta say, I'm all about exposing kids to tough historical events like the Capitol attack 🚨, but do we really need to make it mandatory? Can't schools just handle it organically with their teachers? Introducing a bill like this might be seen as heavy-handed 💪. What's wrong with trusting educators to decide what's best for their classrooms?

And don't even get me started on the clemency thing 🤷‍♂️ - can we not focus on the facts instead of getting tangled up in Trump's actions? It feels like this bill is more about politics than learning 📚. I guess time will tell if it's a good idea or just another distraction 🕰️.

you know i think its pretty reasonable that kids in new york should learn about whats happened on jan 6th 2021 at the capitol 🤔... like yeah sure some people lost their lives and theres still controversy surrounding it all but teaching history is super important for us to not repeat past mistakes, right? its not just about a specific event but also about how we can work together as a society 👫 especially since president trump has kinda made a thing out of denying what happened 🙅‍♂️
