Two former NYPD officers have been dealt severe punishments for their roles in the sexual abuse of an intoxicated woman. Julio Alcantara-Santiago, 42, was sentenced to six years of probation and required to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to second-degree sexual abuse. Christian Garcia, 34, received one year of probation following his guilty plea to third-degree sexual abuse.

. These guys thought they could take advantage of someone who was already in a bad place, which is just not cool

I am literally fuming right now thinking about these two sickos who preyed on some poor drunk woman! Six years of probation for Alcantara-Santiago and one year for Garcia is NOT ENOUGH!!! They took advantage of her vulnerable state, left her defenseless, and then had the nerve to try to escape justice. I mean, come on, a DNA match and surveillance footage? It's like they thought they could get away with it.
, doesn't seem fair that the second guy only got a year on probation. and what about the real victim here? she was left feeling vulnerable & traumatized for who knows how long... justice might be served but its not like these guys are getting some kind of punishment that reflects their actions 
I'm glad the victim can finally start movin' on with her life, though. And it's wild that DNA testing ended up bein' the key to catchin' these guys - technology is pretty amazing, right? 
But at the same time, it's a little disheartenin' that some people are more willing to take risks for a plea deal than face the full consequences of their actions. I guess that's just part of the system, though... *sigh*

I'm so glad justice has been served here... 6 years of probation for one guy seems kinda harsh but at least he's being held accountable. And poor victim, she's finally getting some closure after going through all this trauma

... kind of. Six years of probation is a pretty standard sentence, right? I mean, who needs a full 2-3 year prison term when you can just get a slap on the wrist and be done with it? It's not like the victim was left to deal with PTSD or anything... just a good old-fashioned slap in the face

This news is just heartbreaking... two people taking advantage of someone who's completely defenseless because they've been drinking way too much. it's just so wrong. I'm glad that justice was served, but six years probation for one guy seems kinda light.

this is still so sad that these 2 ppl got away with somethin they clearly didnt deserve...i mean, 6 yrs probation for Alcantara-Santiago seems kinda lenient imo
