Two men, believed to be between 18 and 24 years old, are wanted by the NYPD in connection with an alarming incident in Queens where a car meetup turned into a violent brawl. The violence occurred at a residential block near 141st Street and 11th Avenue, where a group of around 50 cars had descended, ignoring noise ordinances.
The meeting was allegedly to showcase high-performance vehicles, but it quickly escalated out of control with drivers ignoring speed limits and recklessly racing. Fireworks were lit, an empty car set ablaze, and residents were subjected to the chaos.
However, things took a deadly turn when Blake Ferrer stepped outside his home, which is located on Malba Street, and confronted the group. The couple claimed they were met with hostility, with one of the men allegedly attacking him in full view of their wife, Melissa, who was also injured.
Videos posted by local council member Vickie Paladino show a disturbing scene where masked individuals are seen beating Blake Ferrer on the ground while his wife tries to shield herself from further violence. The attackers were reportedly wearing masks and hoods, which made it difficult for police to identify them.
Blake Ferrer sustained multiple injuries including broken ribs, shoulder, nose, cheek, and throat, as well as a punch to the face from an assailant. His wife Melissa was also punched in the face during the melee.
The couple has criticized the police response to their 911 call, which they claim took too long to arrive at the scene. An NYPD spokesperson said that officers were handling multiple emergencies around the same time and may have taken longer to reach the scene.
To aid the investigation, police are now increasing patrols in the area and meeting with residents who were affected by the incident. The police department is also seeking the public's help in identifying the two suspects, described as white males, who fled the scene in a white Chevy Silverado heading southbound on the Whitestone Expressway.
As the search for the perpetrators continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and provide details about the incident.
