‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ & More Winners That Made History at the 2026 Golden Globes

The 2026 Golden Globes have come and gone, leaving behind a trail of winners and losers in the entertainment industry. Paul Thomas Anderson's magnum opus, "One Battle After Another," dominated the film side with an impressive four wins, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director – Motion Picture, and Best Screenplay – Motion Picture.

Anderson's victory is all the more remarkable considering that he has only won in these three categories once before. This year's wins cement his status as one of Hollywood's most respected directors, who continues to push boundaries with his work. Despite his numerous nominations, Anderson finally took home the top prize for Best Director – Motion Picture.

Teyana Taylor also made history at the 2026 Golden Globes, winning her first Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for "One Battle After Another." This victory marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career, solidifying her position as one of Hollywood's most talented actresses.

The awards ceremony also saw the emergence of new talents and the continued success of established stars. Chloé Zhao's adaptation of Shakespeare's "Hamnet" took home Best Motion Picture – Drama, while Wagner Moura won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for his role in "The Secret Agent."

Stellan Skarsgård, meanwhile, added to his impressive collection of Golden Globes with another win for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture. His son Alexander had previously won a Globe for his work on "Big Little Lies," marking a rare instance where siblings have both taken home the coveted award.

However, not all winners were as fortunate as Anderson and Taylor. Films like "Frankenstein" and "Wicked: For Good" suffered from major setbacks, failing to secure even a single win despite being among the most highly anticipated releases of the year.

The 2026 Golden Globes also saw some surprise moments, such as Ricky Gervais taking home his first Golden Globe for Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television. His victory marked a significant milestone in his career, cementing his status as one of the industry's most respected comedians.

In conclusion, the 2026 Golden Globes were a night to remember, with some truly unforgettable moments and performances. Anderson's historic win and Taylor's first-ever Golden Globe are just two examples of the exciting talent that emerged on the red carpet this year. As we look ahead to next year's ceremony, one thing is certain – it will be an event to watch once again.

man I'm not surprised paul thomas anderson finally won big, he's been up for ages now 🤷‍♂️, but honestly who gets snubbed despite being nominated like "frankenstein"?? that's just lazy, shouldn't they at least throw some bones to the haters? anyway, teyana taylor deserved it tho, she's always been a talented actress 👏, and chloé zhao finally got her due for adapting hamnet, about time too 📚. stellan skarsgård is just collecting those globes like they're going out of style lol 😂, but ricky gervais' win was actually kinda sweet, he's still got it, even if the joke-telling industry's getting old 🤪.
