Pa. awards HBO's 'Task' $49.8 million tax credit to film Season 2 in the state

Pennsylvania Awards HBO's "Task" Massive Tax Credit for Season 2 Production

The state of Pennsylvania has awarded HBO's crime drama series 'Task' a record-breaking $49.8 million tax credit for its upcoming season two, marking the largest single show tax credit ever provided by the state.

As production is set to take place entirely in Southeastern Pennsylvania, officials anticipate significant job creation and economic benefits from the show's return. Estimates suggest that over 3,700 jobs will be generated, accompanied by 25,000 hotel nights for local hospitality businesses, and an estimated $194.1 million contribution to the state's economy through direct expenditures.

The tax credit, which accounts for nearly half of the allocated funds in the state's budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, is being offered as part of the Film Production Tax Credit Program. This program offers up to 25-30% tax credits to film productions that spend at least 60% of their production budgets within Pennsylvania.

The show's creator and writer, Brad Ingelsby, expressed his gratitude for the state's support in a press release. A native of Berwyn, Chester County, Ingelsby grew up in Pennsylvania and plans to continue filming the series within the state, bringing authenticity and exposure to local businesses and artists.

Filming locations will span across multiple counties, including Aston, Delaware County, and Philadelphia, with other scenes shot at notable spots such as Wissahickon Valley Park and the Poconos. The show's production team is expected to return several cast members from the first season, including Mark Ruffalo.

The state Film Commissioner, Gino Anthony Pesi, stated that supporting productions like 'Task' has a profound impact on Pennsylvania's creative economy, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs while giving new opportunities to local businesses in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

omg u guys i just can't even right now pennsylvania is literally giving HBO $49.8 million for season 2 of "task" and like they're expecting it to create over 3,700 jobs and 25k hotel nights lol what a rush i wish i could get a tax credit that big for my own content idk if i'd be able to handle the responsibility tho anyway i'm super stoked that brad ingelsby is keeping it local and filming in pennsylvania i bet he's gonna bring so much authenticity to the show my cuz from philly is actually going to have her shop featured on the show which is like totally exciting for me

man πŸ€” I'm kinda stoked for "Task" season 2, but also worried about the environmental impact of filming across multiple counties. all that equipment and crew can't be good for the environment, you know? πŸ’š on the other hand, it's awesome to see a production like this bringing in so much cash for local businesses πŸ€‘. gotta give credit to the state for supporting PA creators though πŸ‘, but at the same time, 49.8 million tax credits is a pretty big chunk of change... πŸ’Έ

I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT PENNSYLVANIA IS OFFERING SUCH A MASSIVE TAX CREDIT TO HBO'S "TASK" FOR ITS UPCOMING SEASON TWO! 🀩 3,700 NEW JOBS AND $194 MILLION IN CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE'S ECONOMY IS GOING TO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN SOULHEARTED PENNSYLVANIA. I LOVE THAT BRAD INGELSBY IS PLANNING TO KEEP IT LOCAL, FILMING SCENES AT WISSAHICKON VALLEY PARK AND THE POCONOS! THAT'S GOING TO GIVE THOSE BUSINESSES A MUCH-NEEDED BOOST.

I'm so stoked about this news! πŸ’₯ The fact that HBO's "Task" is getting such a massive tax credit for Season 2 production is huge for the state of Pennsylvania. I mean, think about it - over 3,700 jobs are gonna be created and $194 million will be pumped into the local economy? πŸ€‘ That's some serious cash flow right there! And let's not forget that Brad Ingelsby is a native of Berwyn, so this is like a dream come true for him. I'm all about supporting local talent and businesses, so this is music to my ears! 🎢 The fact that the production team is gonna bring authenticity and exposure to local spots is just the cherry on top. Can't wait to see what they do with it! πŸ˜„

just saw this news about HBO's "Task" gettin such a massive tax credit for season 2 πŸ€‘ i'm all about that economic growth lol but like, what does this mean for the cast & crew? are they gonna be stayin locally or flyin in from other states? also wut kinda impact will it have on the local businesses, esp those hospitality ones gettin all them hotel nights? gotta give props to Brad Ingelsby 4 keepin it real & authentic with the show's roots πŸ™Œ

omg can you believe pennsylvania is giving hbo a record-breaking tax credit for season 2 of task! $49.8 million is crazy talk! πŸ€‘ i mean who needs that kinda cash? but seriously, it's awesome that the show's creator and writer are gonna be filming in multiple counties, including delaware county where my aunt lives lol what's next? pennsylvania awarding task a lifetime supply of soft pretzels? πŸ˜‚

🚨 Another cash handout for HBO πŸ€‘ Just think about the massive tax credit of $49.8 million that the state is handing out to a TV show for its 2nd season production... Meanwhile, public schools are still struggling to get funds and services they desperately need πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ It's just another example of how Hollywood gets priority over everyday people in PA πŸ’Έ And who knows, maybe some local artists will finally get noticed, but it's probably gonna be a small window for them before the spotlight moves on to the next big thing 🎬

come on 49.8 million is way too much for one show πŸ€‘ think about all the other talented creators struggling to make ends meet in pennsylvania they need more support than just a handout for hbo's 'task' πŸ˜’ besides, its not like the state is actually investing in something that benefits everyone else...like education or infrastructure or something.

So they're giving HBO this massive tax credit for filming Task in PA πŸ€‘ And it's gonna create so many jobs and bring in some serious cash for the state πŸ’Έ Like, over 3,700 jobs and $194 million? That's insane! 🀯 I'm not surprised though, because Brad Ingelsby is a local guy from Berwyn, so he knows what works here. It's great that the show is going to film in different parts of SE PA too, like Aston and Philly. I've been to Wissahickon Valley Park before and it's gorgeous 🌳

πŸŒ±πŸ’– I'm so stoked to see PA investing in the arts 🎬! $49.8 million is a huge win for the state economy πŸ’Έ, not just for the show's cast & crew 🀝 but also for those local businesses getting a boost from hotel bookings & job creation πŸ“ˆ. It's awesome that Brad Ingelsby plans to keep filming in PA - it's all about supporting our own talented artists 🎨! I'm curious to see how Task Season 2 turns out 😬, and I hope the crew takes care of themselves during those long hours on set πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ.

πŸ€” 49.8 million for one show is just crazy πŸ€‘... I mean, I'm glad they're supporting the economy and creating jobs, but it feels like a lot of money is tied up in just one production. Don't get me wrong, I love local talent and filming on location is awesome too 😊... but do we really need that much tax credit? I guess it's about giving back to the community and keeping it here 🌳

omg i'm so stoked about this news lol! so like pennsylvania is literally giving hbo this huge tax credit for their show 'task' and it's gonna be a record breaker πŸ’Έ the amount of money they're offering is insane, almost half of pennsylvania's budget goes to film productions like this 🀯 and i'm all for it, it's not every day you see a state supporting its own talent 😎

i can already imagine how much the local economy is gonna benefit from all these jobs being created πŸ“ˆ 3,700+ new jobs is no joke πŸ€‘ and with hotel nights at 25k+, our local hospitality businesses are gonna make some serious dough πŸ’Έ i'm also loving that the show's creator is a native pennsylvanian, it's awesome to see him staying true to his roots 🌿

anyway, can't wait to see what they get up to in season two, and hopefully mark ruffalo makes another appearance πŸ‘

just another tax credit for a show πŸ€‘ the state is basically giving away nearly half a billion dollars in tax credits for one season of a TV show... 3,700 jobs created, yeah sure, but what about the long-term effects? will those jobs even be available after the show wraps up? and $194 million to the economy, that's a lot of money tied up in just one industry πŸ€‘

I'm low-key surprised they're not throwing more money at it πŸ€‘. 49.8 million is a huge tax credit, but think about the potential long-term benefits for the state's economy... if the show actually sticks around. I mean, Season 1 was decent, but HBO can be pretty unpredictable when it comes to renewals. Still, with Mark Ruffalo returning and all those local shoots, hopefully it'll bring some real exposure to the area πŸ“Ί. And let's be real, who doesn't love a good crime drama? But come on, 25-30% tax credits are crazy generous 🀯. How much of that credit is actually going towards the production itself vs. state overheads and whatnot? Still, fingers crossed for the local businesses and artists who'll get to benefit from all this πŸ’Ό

πŸ€” I'm glad to see Pennsylvania backing its own talent with this huge tax credit, but 49.8 million dollars is pretty steep. I mean, what if the show doesn't even make it past season two? πŸ€‘ Don't get me wrong, it's awesome for local businesses and job creation, but you gotta think about the ROI here.

I'm also a bit concerned about the environmental impact of filming in multiple counties. All those cast and crew members traveling around, not to mention the equipment and set construction... it adds up. Maybe they could've found ways to make production more sustainable? πŸ’š

On the other hand, having Mark Ruffalo back on board is a huge plus for the show's authenticity. And I love that Brad Ingelsby is planning to keep filming locally – it's gonna be great to see some real Pennsylvania flair on screen! πŸ“Ί

πŸ€” so its awesome that pennsylvania is getting some major props for backing hbo's task series... 49 mil tax credit is straight fire πŸ’Έ and im glad they're gonna keep production in the state, thats a win for locals too πŸ‘ its also cool to hear that they'll be using local spots as filming locations like wissahickon valley park 🌳

πŸ“ŠπŸŽ¬ I'm stoked that the PA government is giving HBO's "Task" a massive tax credit for Season 2! πŸ€‘ It's awesome that they're supporting local production and creating jobs for like, over 3,700 peeps 🀝. This also means we'll get to see more of our amazing state on TV πŸ“Ί. I'm loving the fact that they'll be filming in various spots across SE PA, from Aston to Philly πŸ“πŸš‚. It's all about that authenticity, right? 😊
