Pape Gueye fires Senegal to Afcon glory against Morocco after walk-off chaos

Senegal Stun Morocco to Win Africa Cup of Nations Despite Walk-Off Chaos

In one of the most bizarre finals in African Cup of Nations history, Senegal emerged victorious over Morocco despite a walk-off protest by their players and team staff. The win marked Senegal's second Cup of Nations title, their first since 2002.

The drama unfolded in injury time when Abdoulaye Seck was penalized for pushing Achraf Hakimi, resulting in a goal for Morocco. However, the whistle had already blown, and Senegal players took to the pitch in protest, claiming there was a conspiracy against them. The majority of the team stormed off, with Sadio Mané being the last to leave.

The tension continued when El Hadji Malick Diouf was penalized for pulling on Brahim Díaz as he defended a corner, prompting Senegal's coach Claude Le Roy to intervene and persuade the players to return to the pitch. In the chaos, the advertising boards in front of the Senegal fans collapsed.

Morocco had come close to scoring again when Neil El Aynaoui's header was blocked by Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy. However, it was Pape Gueye who ultimately sealed the win with a stunning goal in the 96th minute, pouncing on a loose ball and firing into the top corner.

The match had been a slow-burning affair, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. Morocco's Ayoub El Kaabi missed a glorious opportunity to score, but the game remained level until the final penalty was awarded against Senegal for a Seck push on Hakimi.

Brahim Díaz stepped up to take the penalty, but instead of scoring, he duffed it straight at Mendy, who caught it easily. The Moroccan player looked stunned and disappointed, while Senegal players erupted in celebration.

The match highlighted concerns about refereeing decisions throughout the tournament, with some suggesting that Morocco had benefited from favorable calls in previous rounds. However, on this occasion, Senegal's protest was seen as unjustified, and they were ultimately punished for their walk-off.

Despite the controversy, Senegal's win marked a historic moment for African football. The team's victory will be remembered for years to come, not just because of their triumph but also due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding it.

Ugh, what a game 🤯! I mean, I've seen some crazy finals in my day, but this one takes the cake... or should I say, the African Cup of Nations trophy? 😂 Senegal's walk-off protest was absolutely mental 💁‍♂️. I get that they were upset about the call, but to just storm off like that? It's not exactly the most sporting thing to do 🏃‍♂️.

And can we talk about how wild it was when El Hadji Malick Diouf got penalized for pulling on Brahim Díaz? 😂 I mean, what were they even doing out there?! It was like a bad game of tag or something 🤣. And don't even get me started on the advertising boards collapsing in front of Senegal's fans... that was just ridiculous 📺.

Despite all the chaos, though, Pape Gueye's goal at the end was pure magic ✨. I mean, who scores a winner in the 96th minute? Only Pape Gueye, apparently 😂. And Édouard Mendy's reaction to catching that penalty? Classic goalkeeper vibes 🙌.

All in all, it was definitely an eventful final... and not just because of the walk-off protest 😜. I'm still trying to process everything that happened. Maybe after a few more beers, I'll get my head around it 😅.

🤯🏆 Senegal's win is insane 🤯 and they totally deserved it 💯! I was on the edge of my seat during that walk-off drama 😱, but it was clear that Morocco had gotten away with some dodgy calls 👀. The players' protest was super dramatic 🎭, but in hindsight, it was probably not justified 😐. Still, that last-minute goal by Pape Gueye 🤩 was pure magic ✨! Édouard Mendy is a hero 🙌 for catching that penalty 🔥! And can we talk about the advertising boards collapsing 😂? That's just extra 🤣. Anyway, congrats to Senegal on their well-deserved win 🎉 and their second Cup of Nations title 🏆!

I'm still reeling from that Senegal vs Morocco Africa Cup of Nations final 🤯😱 The drama was insane! I mean, who walks off in protest in the final minutes of a game? 😂 The Senegal players just couldn't take the whistle blowing and thought there was a conspiracy against them... yeah no 🙄. Anyway, Pape Gueye's goal at 96 minutes was absolute madness 🔥⚽

I'm glad they won it all for Senegal, their fans must be over the moon! 😊 That Moroccan team put on a good fight though, Ayoub El Kaabi had some great chances... maybe next time 🤞. The controversy surrounding the walk-off protest is still a bit of an oddity to me, but at least they made it memorable 😂. Can't wait for more thrilling moments in African football 🏆

lol what a game 🤣! Senegal finally wins their 2nd AFCON title and they're celebrating like they won the lottery 🎉. I mean, fair play to them, deserved win in the end... i guess 😏. That walk-off protest was kinda wild though 🙈, I don't think a conspiracy is gonna save you now Senegal 😉. On a serious note, refereeing decisions can be hella sketchy sometimes ⚽️. Morocco's coach should've taken that walk-off opportunity to rant and rave like the rest of them 😅. Anyway, history made, AFCON 2025 🏆

OMG you guys Senegal is literally the best!! 🤩 I was on the edge of my seat watching this match and the walk-off protest by Morocco was insane 😱 I mean what if they had gotten that penalty? 🤯 But Senegal's players held strong and Pape Gueye's goal was AMAZING 🙌! And can we talk about Édouard Mendy, the GOALIE OF THE GAME 🤴♂️? He saved so many chances for Morocco and sealed their win with that stunning shot. OMG, what an absolute wild card final 🤯😲! I mean, who saw that coming? Senegal totally deserved that win tho, they played so much better than Morocco all game 🙌. And yeah, those Moroccan players were a bit mugged off by the ref 🤷‍♂️. The walk-off protest was just ridiculous, no need to resort to drama like that 😒. Édouard Mendy is a total legend for saving that penalty though 🙌. Pape Gueye's goal at 96 minutes was insane 💥! This win will go down in history as one of the craziest finals ever played 🔥🏆 Can't wait to see what other surprises the rest of the tournament has in store for us 😃

I'm still in shock 😱 about that crazy Africa Cup of Nations final! I mean, who walks off the pitch like that? 🤯 It was like something out of a bad film 🎥. And what's with all these conspiracy theories? Can't they just take their medicine and move on? 🙄 The Senegal team is gonna be remembered for this wild win and their epic meltdown 💥. I mean, who needs drama when you can have goals and excitement? 🏆

omg i am still trying to process what just happened!!!! that walk off by senegal was like something out of a movie !! i mean i can understand why they were upset but like did they really have to take it this far ???? and then sadio mané being the last one to leave was just like wow what a moment ?? i'm still on edge thinking about what could've happened if they hadn't gone back on pitch .. morocco deserved that win so much more and now senegal gets to bask in the glory of their historic win 🏆😍

man that was wild 🤯! i mean, senegal's team just walked off mid-game and it was like something out of a movie 🎥. i'm talking about the drama, the tension, the whole thing. and then pape guye comes along and scores this crazy goal in the 96th minute? 🤩 what can you even say to that? morocco's players must've been so frustrated and it was like they couldn't take it anymore 😩.

anyway, i'm still trying to process everything that happened. it was definitely one for the books 📚. and yeah, refereeing decisions have been a bit wonky throughout this tournament 🤦‍♂️. but hey, at least senegal came out on top in the end 💪. go senegal! 👏

Man... what a match 🤯! I mean, Senegal was robbed at first, no doubt about it 😤. All that drama with the walk-off and protest... it was like something out of a movie 🎥. But in the end, they deserved to win 💪. That goal by Pape Gueye was insane 🔥! You gotta give credit where credit is due, Senegal played some great football despite all the controversy 🙌.

I was on the edge of my seat when El Aynaoui's header was blocked... what a moment 😲! And then to see Díaz duff up that penalty shot... priceless 😂. But seriously, it's a shame Morocco didn't get that one 💔. They had some great chances, but Senegal just edged it out.

I'm loving this African Cup of Nations all over again 🌟. The passion, the excitement... it's what makes football so special ❤️. And for Senegal to win like this? Unbelievable 😮. They'll be talking about this one for years to come 👍.

OMG, WHAT A MATCH!!! 🤯 I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! Senegal's win was totally deserved and they played so well in the end. Morocco had some good chances too, but Édouard Mendy was absolutely amazing between the posts! 😱 That walk-off protest by Senegal's players was pretty wild though... I didn't think it was justified at all. 🙄 The drama in injury time was crazy and I was screaming at the screen when the whistle had already blown! 😂 But Pape Gueye's winning goal was INSANE!!! 💥

Ugh, what a complete mess! 😩 I was on the edge of my seat watching that game and Senegal's walk-off protest was absolutely ridiculous 🤯. I get that they were upset about the ref's calls, but storming off like that? Really? It just shows how unprofessional they are 🙄. And to make matters worse, the advertising boards in front of the Senegal fans collapsed... poor guy must've been so stressed 😓.

I don't think Morocco deserved to win or lose, honestly 🤔. The ref's decisions were questionable, but that's just part of the game. But Senegal's protest? Not cool, guys 👎. At least Pape Gueye scored an amazing goal in the 96th minute to seal the win 🏆. That was some crazy drama though... can't believe what I just saw 😲.

omg what a game!!! 😲 i was on the edge of my seat when senegal started protesting like they were gonna get docked points or something 🤯 i mean who walks off in the middle of a game? and that goal by pape gueye at 96 minutes was pure magic 🔮 i love how sadio mané was the last one to leave but still it was chaotic 💥 i heard there were some refereeing decisions that didn't go in senegal's favor but like i'm no expert or anything 🤷‍♂️ all i know is they played their hearts out and deserved that win 🎉

man this final was crazy 😱 i mean who walks off the pitch in injury time? it looked like they were trying to distract ref or something. but idk, it's all water under bridge now. senegal deserved that win, morocco just didn't take their chances when it counted. pape guye's goal was insane though 🤯 and édouard mendy is a total hero for catching that penalty 😂. referees need to get their act together, but overall it was an epic match. senegal's reaction afterwards seemed unjustified tho... i mean, everyone makes mistakes sometimes 🤔. anyway, congrats to senegal on their 2nd africa cup of nations title 👏

OMG 🤯 what was going on out there?! 😂 I mean, I've seen some crazy games in my life, but this one takes the cake! Those Senegal players went absolutely mental when they got sent off for protesting, and I'm like "what's the big deal?" 🙄 And then the advertising boards behind their fans collapse? 😂 That was just ridiculous!

I don't think Senegal had any right to walk off though, that's not how you handle a situation. It's all about sportsmanship and respect for the game, you know? But I guess they were under so much pressure and stress that it all got a bit out of hand.

On the other hand, Morocco was really unlucky with those refereeing decisions. If their player had just scored that penalty, it would've been a totally different story. 😩 So yeah, Senegal's win is definitely sweet, but I'm also kinda sad for Morocco and how their game got ruined by some questionable calls.

Anyway, Pape Gueye's goal was insane! 🤯 What a finish, and what a moment in African Cup of Nations history! 🎉

🤔 I'm still trying to wrap my head around that crazy walk-off by Senegal players! 😱 What was going on with Abdoulaye Seck and Achraf Hakimi? 🤦‍♂️ It looked like a clear penalty call, but the whistle had already blown. I don't think a team has ever walked off in protest during a match before, so that's just wild. 🌪️ And can we talk about how much drama those advertising boards took down when Senegal players stormed off? 😂 It was like something straight out of a movie! The goal from Pape Gueye at the end was insane, though - what a finish! 💥
