Paquetá launches outburst at football authorities after West Ham red against Liverpool

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá has taken aim at football authorities in a bizarre online outburst following his sending-off in the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool. The Brazil international, who had his spot-fixing allegations cleared by the FA in July, expressed outrage over what he described as two years of "psychological support" or lack thereof from the governing body.

Paquetá's frustration boiled over after being shown two yellow cards for dissent, which left him visibly agitated and ultimately led to his ejection from the game. Despite players from both teams attempting to calm him down, Paquetá returned to berate the referee before receiving a second yellow card, which sealed his fate.

In an Instagram post, Paquetá initially issued an apology to fans and teammates for his behavior, stating that he understands why he may be perceived as "the villain" but pleading with them to understand that it's not justified. However, after being challenged by the Sky Sports Premier League account on Twitter, Paquetá fired back, expressing frustration at the FA's handling of his case.

The Brazilian midfielder claimed that he had been left without psychological support for two years, which was likely exacerbated by the FA investigation into spot-fixing allegations. He suggested that his behavior may be a result of all the stress and pressure he'd endured as a result, stating it's "ridiculous" to have his life and career affected in such a way.

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo distanced himself from Paquetá's comments after the match, but acknowledged the difficulty of playing with one player less against Liverpool. However, Paquetá remains adamant that he needs to understand the situation better before commenting further on it.

omg i feel him lol lucas paquetá is like a big boy now but honestly those fa guys have gotta step up their game 🤷‍♂️ he's been through some stuff and it's not cool that he's being left to deal with all that stress on his own. two years of no support? that's wild 🚨 it's not surprising he'd lose his cool, especially when you consider how much pressure he's under as a pro athlete. maybe the fa should be helping him more or at least having an open convo about what he's going through 😊

omg i feel so bad for lucas paquetá 😔 he's going through a lot right now and it's not easy to deal with all that stress & pressure... i mean two years of no psychological support? that's crazy 💀 imagine being in his shoes, trying to play football while dealing with all that emotional baggage... west ham manager nuno espírito santo was right to distance himself from paquetá's comments tho 🙏 it's one thing to talk about it online but another to do it right after the match when emotions are running high... anyway, i hope paquetá gets some help and support soon, he seems like a really talented player who deserves better 💪

omg u can feel the desperation in his words 🤯 like he's pouring his heart out & all those months of being cleared by the FA still got him shook 😩 two yrs of no support from them? how did we not know about this? 💔 i get that football is hard, but mental health matters too fam 🧘‍♂️ we gotta be better at supporting our players through thick & thin. & honestly, it's kinda messed up that he's being judged for it again 💥 like he thought he was cleared already 🤷‍♂️ nuno shoulda spoke up more tho 👊

omg i feel like lucas paquetá lol he's just so extra 🤣 i mean i get why he's frustrated but two years of no psychological support from the fa? that's wild 🤯 and poor dude, being a pro athlete is stressful enough without having your mental health scrutinized all the time 😩 i can see why he'd lash out, especially after being cleared of spot-fixing allegations and then getting sent off in the game again... it's like he's just not getting any love from anyone 🤷‍♂️

omg did you see lucas paquetá go wild on instagram? 🤯 he's all like fa just left me hangin for 2 years w/o psychological support 😩 and i'm like yeah dude we know about the spot-fixing scandal already 🤷‍♂️ but seriously tho is it really that hard to get a mental health check in amidst all the drama? 🤔

idk about lucas paquetá tho 🤔... seems like he's just trying to deflect from his own mistakes on the pitch 🏀😬 two yellow cards is a lot, and the fa clearing him of spot-fixing allegations doesn't necessarily mean everything's alright 💯 what if he's not dealing well with the pressure & stress? maybe he needs some actual help or support, not just venting about it online 😩

man this Paquetá thing is just sooo deep 🤯 i mean what happens when you're already stressed out and feeling like your career's on the line, but nobody's got your back? 🤝 he says he's been left without psychological support for two years... that's like, emotional labor, fam. all this pressure of being a spot-fixing suspect, and then you get two yellow cards for just trying to talk to the ref? 🙄 it's like, who's got time to deal with all that?

and what does he do when he feels like no one's listening? 🤐 he lashes out on Instagram... but then gets called out by Sky Sports. it's like this never-ending cycle of feeling unheard and misunderstood. i mean, can't we just take a step back and try to understand each other's perspectives instead of throwing shade? 🙏

omg i'm low-key shocked by lucas paq's outburst 🤯👀 he's got a point tho, 2 years of being in limbo with those spot-fixing allegations and not getting any real support from the fa? that's some heavy stuff 🤕 i feel for the guy, he's been through so much. but at the same time, his behavior on the pitch was super unacceptable 😒 he can't just lash out at the ref like that. still gotta respect him for speaking up tho 💯

idk what's going on with lucas paquetá lately 🤔... sounds like he's still dealing with some major stress from that spot-fixing investigation 🚨 and now he's lashing out at the fa for not giving him enough "psychological support" 💔... i mean, two years is a pretty long time to be left without help, but is it really on the fa's shoulders? 🤷‍♂️ maybe lucas should just talk to someone directly instead of blowing up on social media... and btw, spot-fixing allegations are no joke 🚫

I'm totally with Lucas Paquetá on this 🤔 - I mean, who wouldn't want two whole years of psychological support from the FA? 😂 It's not like they're a bunch of soulless robots trying to ruin his life, right? 💥 But at the same time... how can you expect him to not get frustrated when he's being scrutinized for spot-fixing allegations and then gets two yellows for dissent? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, it's just common sense that he'd feel the pressure. And what's with this whole "you're the villain" thing? That's so unfair! He's just trying to process everything and maybe get some answers... but nope, instead he gets roasted on Twitter 😡. Ugh, the drama is real 💥.

omg this is so messed up 🤯 lucas paqueteá was already dealing with spot-fixing allegations and now it sounds like the fa has been super unfair to him 🙅‍♂️ two years of no psychological support? that's wild 🌪️ i feel bad for the guy, he just needs someone to talk to or some help to deal with all the stress ⚽

I'm thinking... 🤔
So Paquetá is saying he was left high and dry by the FA after spot-fixing allegations were cleared? That's kinda harsh but I get where he's coming from. Two years of no support? That sounds pretty rough. He's not just talking about his own situation, he's also hinting at how stressful it must be to play with all that weight on your shoulders.

He's trying to say it's not all about being the "villain", but more about coping with the pressure. I can see why he'd feel frustrated, especially if he felt like no one was there for him during that time.

but at the same time... 😐
he took out some pretty strong words on social media which might not be helping his situation. Maybe it's just a cry for help? Or maybe he just needs to take a step back and re-evaluate things.

Ugh mate, I'm telling u, this guy is losin his mind 🤯👀 He was just a little frustrated after gettin sent off, but does he have to go outta control like that? 🙄 And now he's goin at the FA for allegedly not givin him enough psych support 🤷‍♂️ Like, hello mate, you're a pro athlete, deal with it 💪. I get it, life can be tough and all that but throwin shade on the FA ain't gonna help u out 😒. And West Ham's manager is just standin there like "nah mate, good luck wit dat" 🤷‍♂️. Paquetá needs to chill out and focus on his game rather than makin drama online 💻

idk what's going on with lucas paquetá lately 🤯 his behaviour in that game was super weird and i feel bad for him, but at the same time, 2 years without psychological support from the fa is just a bit worrying... like how did he even cope with that kinda stress? 🤔 and then to have his spot-fixing allegations cleared just to be sent off again and get roasted on social media... it's a lot for him to handle.

I'm kinda split on this one 🤔. On one hand, I get why Lucas Paquetá's feeling frustrated - two years without support from the FA can't be easy, right? But at the same time, I think he needs to take a step back and reflect on his actions during the game 😬. Two yellows for dissent is a lot of cards, mate! You can't just trash talk the ref and expect everything to be cool 💁‍♂️. The fact that he's now claiming he was left high and dry by the FA? That's not exactly a great look 🤦‍♂️. Still, I kinda feel for the guy - stress and pressure can do weird things to you 😩. Maybe we'll see some growth from him soon 🙏... but for now? Not entirely convinced 💔

omg can't believe lucas paqueta is still getting roasted for this spot-fixing thing 🤦‍♂️ i mean i feel him, two years of no psychological support from the fa is kinda harsh 😩 and yeah his behavior was pretty wild during that game 🙈 but come on luca u gotta chill out a bit lol 👊 nuno's right tho playing with one less player vs liverpool is tough 🤯

idk how much more stress a guy can take lol... spot-fixing drama and now this whole psychological support thing 🤯👊 2 years is a long time to be dealing with all that anxiety, no wonder lucas lost his cool out there. i feel bad for the kid tho

I'm so done with these football players and their drama 🤯. I mean, I get it, they're under a lot of pressure and stress, but Lucas Paquetá's outburst is just wild 🤪. Two years of no psychological support from the FA? That sounds like a pretty big deal to me 🤔. But at the same time, he's still got a spot-fixing scandal on his back, which is even more serious than some players' tantrums 😒. I'm not sure what's going on in Paquetá's head right now, but it seems like he's not taking responsibility for his actions 🤷‍♂️. And honestly, West Ham got beat pretty badly by Liverpool, so maybe they should focus on that instead of making excuses 🏆💔

Omg, can u believe this?! 🤯 Lucas Paquetá is literally going off on Twitter about the FA not giving him enough psychological support after all the drama surrounding spot-fixing allegations... like, isn't he kinda the one who got accused of cheating? 😂 Anyway, I feel bad for the guy, 'cause 2 years without help must be super tough, but also... his behavior was pretty questionable on the pitch. 🤔
