A 68-year-old man has been struck and killed by a SUV carrying an infant in Haverhill on Tuesday night. The accident occurred when the Volvo XC90, which was carrying the infant passenger, first collided with a pickup truck on River Street before hitting another vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the pedestrian was hit by the Volvo just before 8 pm. He was immediately transported to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity remains unknown at this time as authorities are awaiting notification from his family.
