Pedestrian killed in Pleasanton traffic collision

A pedestrian, 56-year-old Rowena Coronel, lost her life in a tragic traffic accident Tuesday evening. According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 6:41 p.m. when Coronel was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main and Neal streets.

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and provided medical attention before transporting Coronel to a nearby hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. The coroner's office later confirmed that Coronel was the victim in the fatal collision.

The driver involved in the accident remained on the scene and is reportedly cooperating with investigators. Fortunately, police have stated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the incident. However, no further details have been released at this time.

As a result of the investigation, Main Street was closed for several hours between Division Street and W Angela Street. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to come forward and contact them at 925-931-5100.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, leaving many questions unanswered. If you have any knowledge about what transpired, please reach out to the police department to help shed light on this tragic event.

man... thinkin' 'bout rowena coronel's life cut short like that is just heartbreaking πŸ€•. but, let's get real for a second... how many times have we heard about drivers who are "cooperating" with the cops after a fatal accident? it's always the same story: driver stays calm, shares info, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. but what if they didn't do anything wrong? what if they're telling the truth and their account is being twisted or misrepresented?

it's like, we need more than just "impairment doesn't appear to be a factor"... we need answers about why this happened in the first place πŸ€”. were there any other factors at play? was it road design, weather conditions, or something else entirely? until we get those answers, all we're doing is playing catch-up on the investigation...

Omg that's so sad πŸ€•πŸ’”. You know how crazy traffic can get and it's just not worth risking our lives like that. I'm really glad the driver wasn't impaired tho, that could've made things a lot worse. It's also super helpful that they're encouraging people to come forward with any info they might have - maybe we can help figure out what happened.

Anyway, it's days like this that make me wish we had more pedestrian-friendly roads around here... like, way better traffic signals and crosswalks would be a huge game-changer. It's just so frustrating when you're trying to get somewhere safely but there are too many risks involved. πŸš—πŸ˜’

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ another human life lost to speeding drivers... it's like they forget we're all just tiny humans trying to get from point A to point B without becoming roadkill πŸš—πŸ’€ main street closure? yeah, that'll give everyone plenty of time to slow down and process their emotions πŸ˜• meanwhile, the driver is cooperating with investigators - cool, because nothing says "help me" like a guy who's already got the cops on speed dial πŸ’» 925-931-5100, hit 'em up if you've got any deets πŸ“ž

🚨 Traffic accidents are a huge concern in our community and it's disheartening that Rowena Coronel lost her life. I'd love to know more about the investigation - have they released any dashcam footage or witness statements? It's also good to hear that the driver is cooperating with police, but how long will it take for them to get to the bottom of this? πŸš—πŸ’”

πŸ˜” just heard about this poor lady's passing... such a sad reminder to stay vigilant while crossing the road 🚨😬. Can't believe how quickly accidents can happen & how devastating they can be πŸ’”. Anyways, hope the driver didn't suffer too much anxiety after that 😩... btw, what's with all these traffic accidents lately? 🀯 need to do more of our daily 10-minute meditation sessions to stay focused on the road πŸ™πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

Wow πŸ€•. Can't believe someone's life was cut short like that. It's so sad for Rowena's family and friends. Hopefully, the driver is telling the truth and it wasn't an accident at all. Main Street closure makes sense, but what about traffic cameras? Shouldn't they have caught something? Anyway, sending my thoughts to those affected... πŸ˜”

This tragic accident has left me pondering about the fragility of life and how quickly it can be taken away πŸ€•. A moment's distraction or lapse in attention from a driver can have devastating consequences for someone else. It makes me wonder, what is it that drives us to get behind the wheel without truly being present? Is it complacency, habit, or simply the convenience of having four wheels at our disposal? The fact that impairment didn't seem to be a factor this time around only raises more questions about what else might be influencing our behavior on the road. It's a sobering reminder to always stay vigilant and mindful of those around us... not just for their sake, but also for our own πŸ’‘.

😞 just heard about Rowena Coronel and it's heartbreaking. such a young life cut short by a terrible accident πŸš—πŸ’” my heart goes out to her family and loved ones - no one deserves to go through what they're going through right now πŸ˜• hopefully the police can get to the bottom of this and make sure justice is served πŸ’―

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this traffic accident and how it relates to our infrastructure πŸ€”. I mean, isn't it time we invest more in pedestrian safety measures? Like, have you seen those tiny crosswalks they've been installing lately? It's like, not even enough to save someone's life, you know? πŸ˜•

It makes me wonder, are we doing everything we can to prevent these types of accidents from happening in the first place? I think it's time we had a broader conversation about our transportation systems and how they're being designed. We need more people on those city councils and planning committees who understand the importance of safety and accessibility.

And let's be real, this incident is just another reminder that our roads are still not perfect πŸš—. We need to keep pushing for better technology, better design, and better enforcement. It's all about making sure everyone can get where they're going safely and without fear of losing their life. πŸ’”

omg I'm so sad to hear about Rowena Coronel... πŸ€•πŸ˜” like how can something like that happen in broad daylight? 🌞 I was driving home from work the other day and I saw a weird accident where someone's car jumped the curb and hit a bike lane... it was so scary! 😱 does anyone know what happened to Rowena Coronel after she got hurt? did they give her any treatment at the hospital? πŸ’‰ i heard hospitals have those new beds with all these fancy machines... πŸ€–

πŸ˜” my heart goes out to Rowena's loved ones she was taken from us way too soon a 56-yr-old woman with her whole life ahead of her 🌹 it's just not fair πŸ€• accidents like these can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time it's so important we all stay alert and look out for each other on the roads πŸ’‘ if you were in that area Tuesday eve, I hope you weren't in a similar situation that could've ended differently 😬

man that's so sad she was only 56 πŸ˜” it's crazy how fast life can change in an instant you'd think with all the cameras and stuff around we'd be more vigilant as pedestrians but i guess accidents can still happen πŸ‘Ž anyway i'm not saying the driver did anything wrong or whatever but what about the road design? i mean main street is a busy intersection, shouldn't there be more traffic lights or something to slow down drivers? πŸ€”

I don’t usually comment but I just can't help feeling really sad for Rowena Coronel and her family πŸ€•. Losing someone like that in an instant is just heartbreaking. It's crazy how one wrong move from a driver can change lives forever πŸš—πŸ’”. I wish the police would be able to figure out what happened ASAP so we can all get some answers 😩. Main Street was always such a busy spot, it's wild to think that something like this could happen there... 🀯. Anyway, my condolences go out to Rowena and her loved ones πŸ’•.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that traffic accident. I mean, it's just so senseless, right? πŸ€• And 56 is way too young to go like that... but at the same time, she was walking out of nowhere and the driver had to swerve or something... maybe it wasn't even their fault? πŸš— And now we'll never know what happened. I'm all for keeping Main Street closed while they investigate, but honestly, it's kinda annoying to be stuck there during rush hour... on the other hand, safety first, right? 😬

man thats such a shame Rowena Coronel's life was cut short in an instant her age and all that...it just feels so senseless. traffic accidents are never easy to deal with, but sometimes you wonder if there's more we can do to prevent these things from happening especially when it comes to older folks or families like hers. idk what the investigation will turn up but hopefully it'll bring some answers for Rowena's loved ones πŸ™

just got word that another pedestrian has lost their life in a traffic accident 🚨😒 rowena coronel was only 56 and had her whole life ahead of her now she'll never get to see her loved ones again or experience the world beyond main st this is getting so depressing πŸ€•

That's just heartbreaking πŸ˜”... I mean, thinkin' about that poor lady walkin' home from wherever, mindin' her biznass, and then BAM! 🚨 Life is just so unpredictable, ya know? It's crazy how somethin' as simple as bein' in the wrong place at the wrong time can lead to tragedy. I mean, we're always talkin' about how much our cars have advanced, but sometimes it feels like we've got more responsibility on our shoulders than ever πŸš—πŸ’¨... anyway, my thoughts are with Rowena's family and loved ones πŸ’•.

Ugh, just heard about Rowena Coronel and it's so sad 😞. You know, I think we need to be more mindful of our surroundings when crossing the street. Like, make eye contact with drivers before stepping out, right? It's not that hard, but apparently some people can't be bothered with their lives πŸ™„.

I'm glad no one was hurt besides Rowena, though 😊. And I hope the driver who was involved in the accident is taking this seriously and cooperating fully with the investigation. It's just... we've lost so many good people to these senseless accidents lately... πŸ’”

just heard about that traffic accident last night and my heart is heavy πŸ™ it's crazy how quickly life can change like that. I feel so bad for Rowena's family and loved ones...they must be going through an unimaginable time right now πŸ˜” the fact that Main Street was closed down all day just shows how serious the incident was - accidents like this happen too often in our city πŸš—πŸ’”
