Philadelphia Police Hunt for Suspect in Fatal Shootings of Two Tow Truck Drivers
A $20,000 reward has been offered by the Philadelphia Police Department for information leading to the capture of Najee Williams, a 27-year-old man accused of being linked to two separate fatal shootings involving tow truck drivers. The investigation into the deaths of David Garcia-Morales and Aaron Whitfield is ongoing, with officials saying they are exploring possible connections between the incidents.
According to police, Garcia-Morales was found inside a Ford F-450 towing vehicle with gunshot wounds on December 22 at Torresdale Avenue in East Frankford. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and died four days later due to his injuries. Williams was identified as the suspect by using surveillance footage from the scene.
Tragically, Whitfield, 25, was also found dead inside a tow truck with multiple gunshot wounds on January 11 at Knorr Street in Northeast Philadelphia. A 21-year-old woman who was also shot in the incident is currently stable and being treated at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital.
Police have confirmed that both men were employed by Jenkintown-based towing company, 448 Towing and Recovery. The suspect, Williams, has been charged with multiple offenses including murder, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment of another person.
According to Ernest Ransom, commanding officer of the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit, there is a "connection" between the two shooting incidents that investigators are working to establish. While officials have not confirmed whether Williams was involved in the November fatal shooting of a tow truck driver, they are exploring possible links between the cases.
With Williams considered armed and dangerous, police urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact their tip line at 215-686-8477. A $20,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to his capture.
