I'm not sure if Poundland's new strategy will pay off but at least they're trying to get back to their roots
. The idea of focusing on £1 items is genius, it's what made them successful in the first place. But I do think they need to be more transparent about their suppliers and how they source those cheap goods
. And honestly, I'm not a fan of the new Pep & Co clothing line, I miss the old clothing range that was never too pricey
.
But you know what's even more concerning? The lack of investment in digital transformation. Poundland needs to catch up with the online game if they want to stay competitive
. Gordon Brothers' £80m investment is a good start but it's not enough. They need to invest in e-commerce, mobile apps and other digital tools to reach a wider audience.
I just hope this restructuring effort pays off for Poundland and their employees
. It's been a tough time for them and I want to see them succeed
