Report: Sixers 'working to find a landing spot' for Eric Gordon

Philadelphia 76ers on the Hunt for Eric Gordon's New Home Just as Deadline Looms

As the clock ticks down to Thursday's 2026 NBA Trade Deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers are frantically searching for a suitable destination for guard Eric Gordon. According to a report from Tony Jones of The Athletic, the team is actively exploring options to find a landing spot for the 37-year-old veteran.

Gordon, who has been with the Sixers on and off since the start of the 2024-25 season, finds himself in an ideal position due to his expiring salary. With a contract value of just under $2.3 million, he can easily be absorbed by various teams looking to bolster their rosters.

Despite having initially joined the team as a one-year deal with a player option, Gordon's decision to decline that offer and rejoin on another veteran minimum contract was largely a financial maneuver. This move allowed him to trim his cap hit while increasing the actual value of his salary.

Gordon's relationship with rookie VJ Edgecombe, who shares international experience representing The Bahamas, has been cited as a reason for his return to Philadelphia. However, the guard's role on the team is minimal on-court and not as prominent in the locker room as that of fellow veteran Kyle Lowry.

With Jared McCain being the first player to be moved, Gordon was seen as one of the more likely candidates to be dealt ahead of Thursday's deadline. As the clock ticks down to the trade window, it remains to be seen which team will find a suitable home for the experienced guard and take advantage of his expiring salary.

omg u guys i'm lowkey freaking out about eric gordon's situation lol he's literally trying to escape philly and i feel him idk what's going on with that team management but i guess when ur 37 & salary is only $2.3m u gotta make moves for urself

anyway i think its all about the $$ he's basically golden rn who's gonna take a chance on him? vj edgecombe's squad life or whoever

I'm just wondering why teams are so desperate to sign Eric Gordon now? He's only gonna be on a low contract for another year or two anyway. Don't get me wrong, he's still got skills and can help out a team, but is it really worth the hassle of dealing with him right now? πŸ€” I mean, what if they just wait till after the deadline and see who else becomes available? It's all so confusing...

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on here πŸ€”πŸ‘€ This Eric Gordon situation has all the makings of a well-planned escape route. First, he's got that "financial maneuver" excuse, but I've been saying for months that he was just playing both sides against each other - his bank account and the 76ers' front office πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ Then there's the whole VJ Edgecombe thing... is this some kind of setup to get him out of Philly? And what about Kyle Lowry's "fellow veteran" vibes? Sounds like he's trying to block Gordon's way, if you ask me πŸ˜’. I'm not saying anything weird is happening, but I am saying that Eric Gordon might be playing a longer game than we're being told πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

man i cant believe this 37 yr old eric gordon is still tryna make a livin in nba he's got a player option on a one yr deal but declines it and takes another vet min contract its like he's tryna save face lol and ppl think the 76ers are just gonna give him away cuz of his salary but let me tell u they wanna keep lowry and edgecombe over gordon at this point 🀣

OMG, I'm so confused about this Eric Gordon situation πŸ€”πŸ’ - teams are literally scrambling to sign him but he's not even playing that much anymore? And honestly, with Kyle Lowry still on the team, I don't get why they need a new guard at all... but maybe it's just a desperate move to try and make a playoff push? πŸ“ˆπŸ†

πŸ€” Eric Gordon is like that cool uncle you know who always gets traded in Feb - every year! πŸ˜‚ He's been around the block with Philly already once before, so this time it might be different. The 76ers could definitely use some extra talent, but if they let him go, he'll find another team to fill his 37-year-old bucket. πŸ€πŸ’Έ

aww man, eric gordon deserves so much better than this minimal role πŸ˜” he's been with the 76ers on and off since last season and they're still treating him like an afterthought πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i feel bad for him, he's got a great contract situation but it's just not fair to his skills and experience πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ maybe he'll get lucky and find a team that actually wants to utilize him at max capacity πŸ’ͺ fingers crossed for eric gordon 🀞

OMG, Eric Gordon is basically begging to be traded 🀣. I mean, who needs a veteran presence when you've got VJ Edgecombe running wild over there? And let's be real, Kyle Lowry is like the real MVP on that team, no cap. But seriously, if anyone can find a way to make his expiring salary work for them, it's gotta be some team trying to get under the luxury tax threshold. I'm saying, the 76ers are just playing dumb at this point, they know Gordon's value is gonna drop like a hot potato after Thursday πŸ€‘.

🀞 I'm kinda hoping Eric Gordon finds a new home that lets him shine more on the court πŸ€! At 37, he's still got plenty of experience and wisdom to share, but it sounds like he might not be getting the minutes he wants in Philly πŸ˜”. Maybe this is his chance to join a team where he can make an impact and prove himself all over again πŸ’ͺ? I wish him all the best in finding a new team that'll appreciate his skills! 🌟

OMG u guys 🀯, I feel like Eric Gordon is stuck in this kinda situation we have in exams when the deadline is near 😬. He's trying to squeeze into a new school (team) but he doesn't wanna be left out πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. His salary is like that one textbook we all wish was free πŸ“š, everyone wants it but no one knows who to take from πŸ‘€. I hope he finds a good fit soon or else it's gonna be a looong season for the 76ers πŸ˜….

omg cant believe its already that time of year again 😩πŸ’₯ so many players are gonna change teams I feel like philly is gonna get stuck with vj edgecombe instead πŸ€” he's got skills but we need someone more established on our roster πŸ”΄πŸ€ eric gordon has been a good addition tho, not sure what the 76ers would do without him though πŸ‘Š

I'm not sure why teams are so desperate to snag Eric Gordon now... He's 37, I mean, he's still got some skills but can't keep up with those young bucks anymore πŸ€”. And let's be real, the team that gets him is probably gonna have to give up a decent amount of their cap space to make it work. It just seems like another example of teams prioritizing short-term gains over long-term sustainability πŸ€‘.

OMG I'm literally loving this new development with Eric Gordon! 🀩 He's got himself in such a great financial spot right now, it's insane. Like, he can just pick up and go to whatever team wants him because he's got that sweet, sweet expiring salary πŸ’Έ. And I know some people might be thinking 'Eric is old' or 'he's not as important anymore', but honestly I think he's still got so much to offer on the court πŸ€. Plus, his connection with VJ Edgecombe is adorable 😊, but let's be real, Eric's the one who deserves all the love right now πŸ’–. Whoever picks him up is gonna get a steal!

im thinkin the 76ers should just keep eric gordon lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, he's been there since last season & seems like they gotta keep him around or vj edgecombe might get more minutes than kyle lowry πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€πŸ’¬
