Review: mgk runs through his many musical personas in wide-ranging show, brings out surprise guest Halsey

Machine Gun Kelly's (MGK) recent concert at Allstate Arena was a dizzying showcase of his eclectic discography, featuring a wide range of musical personas that left it difficult to pinpoint which artist the audience should take him for in 2025. The tour marked MGK's first proper outing since 2022 and saw him celebrating both his pop-punk debut "Tickets to My Downfall" – released five years ago – and his new "vampire phase" album "Lost Americana".

The concert began with a sprawling medley of songs from across MGK's catalog, including hits like "Maybe", "Wild Boy", and "El Diablo". This was followed by a country-infused track, "Lonely Road", featuring Jelly Roll. The evening also included newer material, such as the remix of "Cliché" courtesy of The Jonas Brothers.

However, it was not until MGK brought out surprise guest Halsey on stage that the show truly took off. The unlikely duo performed their hit duet "Forget Me Not," which originally appeared on "Tickets to My Downfall." Later in the set, MGK asked Halsey to join him for his 2019 single "Bad Things."

One of the most striking aspects of the concert was MGK's tendency to defy expectations. The performance featured elaborate stage production and special effects, including a dramatic reveal of a giant, crestfallen Statue of Liberty. However, it was not until Halsey appeared that the true star of the show was on display.

MGK's camaraderie with his audience members added an intimate touch to the evening. He even invited fans onto the stage for "Bloody Valentine," acknowledging their handmade posters – including one from Russia and another that detailed MGK-heavy Spotify Wrapped updates.

The concert also featured heartfelt moments, such as a dedication to Halsey's health struggles and a poignant cover of Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" with Julia Wolf. In the midst of this musical sprawl, MGK took time to address his hip-hop roots by delivering lines from his tracks. A possible new direction in his artistic persona was hinted at when he teased an upcoming rap album.

Overall, Machine Gun Kelly's performance showcased a dizzying array of styles and personas, with Halsey serving as the icing on the cake.

MGK's concert was straight fire 🔥! He went from country vibes to rock to pop-punk and even brought out a special guest in Halsey 💃🏻 - what more can you ask for? 😍 The stage production was insane, with a giant Statue of Liberty reveal that left the crowd speechless 🤯. And can we talk about how MGK connected with his fans? It felt like he was performing just for them 👫. He even had them on stage for "Bloody Valentine" and gave props to their handmade posters 🎨👏. I'm loving the hints of a new rap album - here's to more surprises from MGK 💥!

MGK's concert is like a wild rollercoaster ride 🎠🤯 - you never know what's gonna happen next! One minute he's rockin' out to his pop-punk vibes and the next he's country-ing it up with Jelly Roll 😂. And let's not forget that epic surprise guest appearance by Halsey 💥 - talk about taking it to the next level!

But what really stood out to me was how MGK connected with the crowd 🤗. He got so pumped up and energetic, inviting fans on stage and acknowledging their handmade posters 🎨. It's clear he still has that down-to-earth vibe despite all the glitz and glamour of his performances.

And I love how he wasn't afraid to show his hip-hop roots 🔥 - it was like a nod to where he came from without being too on-the-nose. Plus, those heartfelt moments with Julia Wolf on "Iris" 🌟 really added an extra layer of emotional depth to the performance.

So yeah, MGK's concert is definitely one for the books 📚! It's a testament to his versatility as an artist and his ability to put on a show that's both chaotic and beautiful at the same time.

ugh i dont get what all the hype is about machine gun kelly lol i mean his music is okay i guess but like has anyone actually listened to his old stuff? he was always that one rapper who sang with pop-punk bands 🤷‍♂️ i heard tickets to my downfall was a big hit or whatever, but i dunno if its still on everyone's playlist rn anyway i loved the part where he brought out halsey tho she slayed her performance and it was so cool that they did forget me not together again 🎸👯

MGK is such a genius 🔥 I mean, have you seen that stage production? It's like a work of art 🎨! The way he blends all these different genres and personas together is pure magic ✨. And yeah, Halsey was definitely the highlight of the show 🤩. Their collab on "Forget Me Not" was everything 😍. I love how MGK isn't afraid to be himself and take risks with his music. He's not just a pop-punk kid from Ohio, he's a true artist 🌟. And those heartfelt moments? *swoon* ❤️. Can't wait for that new rap album 💥!

I'm still trying to process that concert 🤯! MGK's energy is infectious but it was crazy to see how many different vibes he went through in one show 😂. I love how he mixed old and new tracks together, even if some of the transitions were a bit jarring 🎵. The surprise Halsey appearance was amazing though - they absolutely killed on stage 💥! And can we talk about how down-to-earth MGK is with his fans? It's so refreshing to see artists connect with their audience like that ❤️. I'm not sure what to make of this whole "vampire phase" thing but I'm intrigued 🦇. Bring it on, MGK!

🤯 MGK's concert was straight fire 🔥! He played all sorts of genres and it was hard to know which artist he was at any given time 🎸...like, what even is Machine Gun Kelly anymore? 😂 But for real tho, that stage production was insane 🤯, I loved how the lights changed and the music shifted with every song. And omg, Halsey's appearance totally made the show! They sounded so good together 💕...I'm kinda intrigued by this "vampire phase" album now 🎧, might have to check it out 👀
