Revisiting our bold Patriots preseason predictions at bye week

The New England Patriots are well on their way to rewriting the script of what many thought was going to be a multi-year rebuild. Under Mike Vrabel's leadership, the team has exceeded expectations and is now sitting pretty as one of the top teams in the league.

In fact, their 11-2 record makes them tied with the Broncos for the best record in the NFL – not bad for a team that was expected to be in rebuilding mode. The Patriots' ascent to contender status can largely be attributed to the emergence of quarterback Drake Maye, who has played like a legitimate MVP candidate this season.

Maye's impressive stat line so far – 23 touchdowns, 3,412 passing yards, and two rushing scores – is a far cry from our initial prediction of 26 passing touchdowns, four rushing scores, and 13 interceptions. He has been able to extend plays with his legs and complete 71.5 percent of his throws, making him an elite quarterback in the eyes of many fans.

However, some of our other predictions haven't aged as well. For example, TreVeyon Henderson's ability to surpass 1,000 rushing yards was always a long shot, given the team's struggles with their running game this season. While he has shown promise, it remains to be seen whether he will ultimately reach that milestone.

Other predictions didn't fare much better either. Mack Hollins' emergence as a red-zone threat hasn't materialized like we expected, while Christian Gonzalez's injury issues have been more of a concern than a distant memory. However, in some instances, our predictions were spot on – Andy Borregales settling into his role as kicker being one of them.

One prediction that did hold up well was the Patriots' ability to shore up their offensive line issues. The team has made significant strides in this area, and while they're still not perfect, it's clear that Vrabel's coaching has made a major impact on the unit.

Lastly, our prediction that K'Lavon Chaisson would be an impactful offseason pickup on defense holds true as well. The former first-round pick has emerged as a potent pass-rusher and forced fumble recovery specialist.

Of course, there are always some curveballs in sports, and it remains to be seen whether the Patriots will ultimately come up short of the playoffs with an 8-9 record.

🤯 just saw that the Pats are killin' it this season - their 11-2 record is insane 🤯! I was thinking we'd still be waiting for the rebuild, but now they're right there with Denver 🏈. And Drake Maye's MVP vibes aren't far off 😎, he's been absolutely electric on the field. Stats are wacky tho - like TreVeyon Henderson not hitting 1000 yards, that was a stretch 💔. But Mack Hollins' red-zone struggles and Christian Gonzalez's injuries were kinda expected 🤷‍♂️. On the other hand, Borregales stepping up as kicker was always gonna happen 👍! And K'Lavon Chaisson's defensive impact is on point 🚨... now let's see if they can keep this momentum going 💪. My prediction for 2nd place in AFC East still stands btw - Patriots all the way 🏆

Come on, 11-2? That's not even close to a rebuild phase! 🙄 The Pats are basically guaranteed to make the playoffs now. And yeah, Drake Maye is a superstar QB for sure, but let's not get carried away, he's still got a lot of work to do before he's considered an MVP candidate in my books 😏. And don't even get me started on TreVeyon Henderson, that 1,000 yard mark is gonna be a stretch 🤔. Give the team some credit for fixing their O-line issues tho 💪, that was definitely a prediction I had right!

I'm loving how the Pats are defying expectations 🤯! Their QB play is insane, I mean who saw Drake Maye throwing for 3,412 yards and 23 touchdowns? The coaching staff has definitely made a difference, especially on O-line. That being said, some of those "predictions" about other guys seem way off 😂... but hey, that's sports, right? Can't wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds!

i'm kinda surprised they're actually living up to the hype 🤷‍♂️, i mean, they were so expected to tank after that mess of a season last year. but at the same time, it's not like they've been completely dominant or anything... they still have some pretty major questions on defense that need answering 🤔. and treveyon henderson's 1k yard mark is still looking super unlikely 🏃‍♂️. how's everyone feeling about them making a deep playoff run tho? 🎉

I'm loving how far off the mark those initial predictions were lol 😂 just think about it, people thought TreVeyon Henderson wouldn't even get close to 1k yards and Mack Hollins was gonna be a top red-zone threat 🤯 and yet here we are with an 11-2 record. I guess you could say Mike Vrabel's coaching has been the game-changer for this team - it's crazy how much of a difference he's made on their O-line and defense too 💪. It'll be interesting to see if they can sustain this level of performance and make a deep playoff run, but for now, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride 🏈

I gotta say 🤔, I'm not surprised they're doing so well but also kinda expected them to tank considering how many 'experts' said they were gonna stink this year 🙄. But hey, a 11-2 record is no joke and Maye's actually pretty good, I guess 👏. Problem is, this team still has some major issues that might not get fixed before the playoffs, like their defense being a complete mess 🚮. And don't even get me started on TreVeyon Henderson's rushing yards... yeah right 🤦‍♂️. But, Vrabel did do a good job fixing the O-line and Chaisson's coming in as a savior on D 🙌. Still not convinced they'll make it to the playoffs with that weird record 🤔

I'm loving how the Patriots are defying all expectations under Mike Vrabel's leadership 🤯🏈! Drake Maye is literally a superhero on the field, I mean 23 touchdowns and 3,412 passing yards? Unreal 💥! It's crazy how much more promising he is compared to some of our other predictions, like TreVeyon Henderson's rushing yards. But hey, you can't win 'em all, right? 😂

The Patriots' O-line issues have also been a major turnaround under Vrabel, that's some top-notch coaching if you ask me 👏! And K'Lavon Chaisson is looking like an absolute steal as an offseason pickup 🤝. It's gonna be tough for them to come up short of the playoffs with 11-2 record though, they're sitting pretty on top of the league 🔥. Let's see how this plays out, Patriots fans are in for a wild ride! 😁

I'm loving how the Pats have turned it around under Mike Vrabel 🤩 - that guy's a coach genius! And Drake Maye is living his best life out there, I mean who knew he'd be throwing touchdowns left and right? 😂 The Patriots' O-line is looking solid now, can't argue with that prediction. K'Lavon Chaisson's been a game-changer on D too... but I'm still on the fence about TreVeyon Henderson reaching those 1,000 yards - we'll see how it goes! 🤞 Mack Hollins' red-zone struggles are a bit of a bummer though... guess you never know when these things will come together 🤷‍♂️

man i'm lovin this season so far its crazy how far they've come under mike vrabel's leadership 😎 and drake maye is literally a different QB from what we predicted he's been on fire 🔥 71.5% completion rate and all those rushing scores 🤯 but yeah some of our other predictions weren't exactly spot on treveyon henderson's gonna need to step up his game big time and mack hollins needs to find his red-zone mojo lol and k'lavon chaisson is living up to the hype what a steal in the offseason tho 🤩 lets hope they can keep this momentum going

The Pats are actually on fire this season! I was skeptical about Drake Maye at first but he's def a top QB now. But what's crazy is how much their O-line has improved - it really shows in those games now. And yeah, TreVeyon Henderson's gonna need to step up his game if they wanna hit that 1k rush mark 🤔🏈...

I'm loving this comeback story 🤩 from the Patriots! It's amazing how a team can turn around like that under Mike Vrabel's leadership 🙌. And Drake Maye is living up to all the hype 🤯, I mean, who would've thought he'd put up those kinda numbers? 23 touchdowns and 3,412 passing yards already? Mind blown 😲. The only thing that really had me scratching my head was TreVeyon Henderson's rushing stats... I didn't think they were gonna make it 🤔. But hey, you can never count out a Patriots season, right? They've got a good mix of players coming together and Vrabel's coaching is clearly paying off 💪. Can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out! 😃

I'm loving how the Pats are killing it this season 🤯! Mike Vrabel's coaching is on point and Drake Maye is a total game-changer 🌟. The kid's got skills for days - he's like a young Tom Brady, minus the whole 'being old' thing 😂. I'm not surprised they're tied for the best record in the league, they've always been one of the top teams around here.

It's cool that some of our predictions didn't quite pan out though 🤷‍♂️. TreVeyon Henderson's gonna have to do more than just show promise to hit 1,000 yards, and Mack Hollins is still waiting for his moment in the spotlight 👀. But hey, at least we were right about the O-line and Chaisson being a game-changer 💪.

You never know what's gonna happen in sports, though - anything can happen on any given Sunday 🤔. Still rooting for the Pats to make it to the playoffs, though!

I gotta say, I'm loving how the Pats are defying all the doubters! 🤯 Their QB Drake Maye is literally on fire 🔥, and it's awesome to see him extending plays with his legs 👣. As a parent, I can relate to those moments when your kid suddenly finds their groove in a game – you're like "YES, YOU GOT THIS!" 😆

But seriously, it's great to see the team addressing their weaknesses, especially on offense 🤔. The o-line is looking much stronger now 💪, and that's gotta make a huge difference for Maye. And K'Lavon Chaisson is rocking as a pass-rusher 🚀 – I'm all about those sacks and forced fumbles! 😂

As unpredictable as sports can be, it's exciting to see the Pats competing so strongly this season 💥. Here's hoping they can make it to the playoffs with an 8-9 record – that would be a fantastic comeback story 🙌.

lol I was thinking they were gonna tank this season 🤦‍♂️ Patriots are on fire 🔥 23 tds from Maye already? that's crazy talk 71.5% completion rate too? he's like a superhero or something 💪. also glad to see the O-line is looking solid again, vrbal's coaching is making some huge differences 🙌. but yeah, some of those preseason predictions were way off... Henderson hasn't reached 1000 yards yet and mack hollins is still struggling in the red zone 😳 https://www.nfl.com/story/3a0007e4-...-surprised-by-their-surge-to-contender-status

I'm loving how wrong all my predictions were about the Pats this season 🤣. I mean, I said they'd struggle on defense and that TreVeyon Henderson wouldn't hit a thousand yards, but Vrabel's coaching is pure magic ✨. And yeah, I was way off on Mack Hollins' red-zone performance too... guess I should've known better than to trust my gut 🤦‍♂️. But hey, at least I got some stuff right like the OL and Chaisson being a game-changer on D 😎. The Broncos might be there for the top spot, though - that's gonna be interesting 💪.

The Patriots' turnaround is pretty impressive 🤯. I think part of their success can be attributed to the coaching staff's ability to adapt and make adjustments on the fly. Mike Vrabel seems to have a knack for getting the best out of his players, even those who weren't expected to contribute as much.

I'm also glad to see that some of our predictions were off the mark 😅, like TreVeyon Henderson not hitting 1,000 rushing yards. That's just the nature of sports, right? And it's cool to see that Andy Borregales has settled into his role as kicker – I was expecting him to struggle a bit more.

But overall, the Patriots' emergence as a top team is definitely worth keeping an eye on 👀. They've got some talented players and a solid coaching staff, which should bode well for their future in the league 🤞.
