RFK Jr. Says He’s Ending the War on Protein. It Doesn’t Exist

In a move that has left many scratching their heads, US Health Secretary RFK Jr. has announced that he's "ending the war on protein," a claim that appears to be little more than a marketing ploy to further his administration's ideology of traditional masculinity.

The announcement, which was made part of the federal government's 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines, suggests that Americans should consume more protein at every meal. However, this advice is not only unscientific but also goes against previous nutritional guidance on saturated fats.

Kennedy's reworking of the dietary guidelines is seen as a continuation of his administration's efforts to tie food and nutrition into traditional masculine ideals. According to experts, there is no "war on protein" - if one existed, it was lost long ago, with American consumption levels reaching record highs despite being nearly nonexistent.

The emphasis on animal proteins in Kennedy's new guidelines serves to project a form of idealized masculinity that is high agency, strong, and physically attractive. This association between men and meat, fire, cooking outdoors has been well-documented and plays into the broader cultural perceptions around food, gender, and body image.

Food and beverage companies are responding to this demand with products like protein cold foam, protein-packed lattes, and even protein-infused popcorn. Experts say that this surge in popularity is driven by marketing campaigns equating general health with higher protein consumption.

Ultimately, Kennedy's claim that he's "ending the war on protein" appears to be little more than a PR stunt designed to appeal to traditional masculine ideals. The real question remains: why pretend there ever was a war on protein in the first place?

I'm so confused about this new protein thing... I mean, who actually had a "war on protein"? 🤷‍♂️ It just seems like they're trying to sell more meat and dairy products. I've seen all these companies jumping on the protein trend with fancy lattes and popcorn... it's just getting weird. Can't we just have some balanced nutrition guidelines that don't tie everything back to beef and eggs? 😐

I'm low-key disappointed in this move. Like, come on 🤔, is it really necessary to tie protein consumption to some sort of toxic masculinity narrative? Can't we just focus on promoting healthy eating habits without resorting to that? And what's with the emphasis on animal proteins, anyway? It's not like they're the only option or anything 🍗. I'm more worried about the marketing push behind all this - protein cold foam and lattes? Give me a break ☕️.

this is so sketchy 🤔 i dont get why they're trying to tie food and nutrition into traditional masculinity its not like being male or female has anything to do with what you eat, you know? and now they're gonna push more protein just because men are supposed to be strong and stuff... it's all about marketing, if you ask me. the fact that experts say there was no "war on protein" is like, duh 🙄 but i guess its all about selling products now... protein cold foam? protein-packed lattes? who comes up with this stuff?

idk about this one 🤔... sounds like they're tryin' to sell us protein powders and whatnot 🤑... didn't realize we were still fightin' that "war" lol, newsflash: protein's been everywhere for ages 🥩... guess it's just a marketing ploy now 😒

I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THIS PROTEIN THING!!! 🤯 IT SEEMS LIKE RFK JR IS JUST TRYING TO SELL MORE PROTEIN PRODUCTS AND MAKE LOTS OF MONEY FROM IT. THE IDEA THAT AMERICANS HAVE BEEN "WINNING" THE FIGHT AGAINST HIGH PROTEIN CONSUMPTION FOR YEARS IS ABSURD 😂 AND IT'S ALL ABOUT TIEING PROTEIN TOTraditional Masculinity, LIKE, YOU NEED TO EAT A LOT OF MEAT TO BE A REAL MAN. GIVE ME BREAK!!! 💪

🤔🍴 I'm totally not down with this new guideline 🙅‍♂️. It's all about protein, protein, protein... 🥩👀 But let's get real, guys! 💁‍♀️ What about plant-based options? Don't we need more fiber and less saturated fats in our diets? 🤷‍♂️

I drew a quick diagram to illustrate my point:

+---------------+
| Protein > | |
+---------------+
| |
| Fiber |
v
+---------------+---------------+
| Saturated | Unhealthy |
| Fats > | Foods > |
+---------------+---------------+

It's like, what happened to balance? 🤷‍♂️ We're already over-consuming meat and processed foods... do we really need more of the same? 🚫

And let's be real, this is all about marketing 🤑. Companies are jumping on the protein bandwagon with fancy products that have nothing to do with actual nutrition. It's just a clever way to sell stuff 💸.

I think RFK Jr. needs to take a step back and reconsider his approach 🤦‍♂️. We need more education, not more marketing hype 📚💡

🤔 You can't have too much of a good thing, but when it comes to protein, sometimes less is more 💪. It's about balance and moderation, not just consuming more for the sake of being "strong" or "healthy". 🙄

idk what's up with this new guidelines 🤔. if they're so sure we need more protein, shouldn't that be based on actual science? instead of just some dude claiming it and hoping people believe him 😒. and btw, isn't this just another example of how food is used to control people's behavior? like, let's get real, who hasn't been guilt-tripped into eating a salad because they're "supposed" to be healthy 🥗? it's all just marketing, fam 💸

🤔 This whole 'ending the war on protein' thing is pretty shady imo. I mean, who even thought there was a war on protein in the first place? 🙄 It's just an excuse for them to push more meat and dairy products, which isn't exactly good for your health. And now we've got companies making all these new 'protein-packed' things that are basically just overpriced snacks. 🍿🤮 Kennedy's trying to tie food to this idea of traditional masculinity, which is pretty problematic if you ask me. It's like they're saying that men need more protein to be strong and attractive... Newsflash: that's not how it works! 💪

omg what a bunch of hooey 🤦‍♂️ i mean come on, who thought it was a good idea to create this "war on protein" thingy anyway? sounds like just another marketing ploy to me 💸 and btw isn't it about time we moved past all that traditional masculinity stuff? we should be focusing on overall health and wellness, not trying to force certain diets or lifestyles down people's throats 🤷‍♀️

omg, I'm like totally confused about this new dietary guideline thingy 🤣... I mean who thought it's a good idea to have "more protein at every meal"? Don't they know we're already eating enough burgers and hot dogs as it is? 😂 seriously though, can't we just eat whatever makes us happy without being tied down to some outdated masculine ideal? 💁‍♀️ I swear, if they start selling protein-infused popcorn 🍿👀 I'm outta here!

I'm so done with this new dietary guidelines 🤯. It seems like they're trying to push some kinda 'manly' food agenda instead of focusing on actual science-backed nutrition. I mean, come on, no 'war on protein'? Who even thought that was a thing? 🙄 And now we gotta deal with all these protein-fueled products popping up everywhere... protein cold foam? 😂 like what's next? Protein-infused water? 🤷‍♀️

And don't even get me started on how this is tied to traditional masculine ideals. Like, what about women and non-binary folks who also deserve good nutrition? Can we just have healthy eating that works for everyone without all the 'bro' vibes? 🙃

🤔 I mean come on, this is just ridiculous. Protein cold foam and protein-infused popcorn? Give me a break! 🍿😂 Kennedy's administration is just trying to sell us more junk food and call it "healthy". Newsflash: saturated fats are still bad for you, no matter what the guidelines say. And another thing, who decides what constitutes "traditional masculinity" anyway? The government shouldn't be imposing their idea of what makes a guy strong... unless you're talking about eating an actual steak, not some protein-packed latte 🥛🤪

idk what rkcj is tryna do lol... it sounds like hes tryin 2 push this "traditional masculinity" agenda thru the diet guidelines 🤷‍♂️ proteins r fine but we dont need all these added sugars & saturated fats from meat & dairy n stuff. its just a bunch of bs to sell more protein powder & energy drinks 💸 i mean, americans already eat tons of protein - we dont need a "war" on it anymore 🙄
