Richmond police say suspect who fired at them and shot into multiple homes is in custody

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a bizarre incident in Richmond, Texas, where one individual fired at police officers and shot into multiple homes early on Friday morning. The Richmond Police Department confirmed that only one of the two suspects, 44-year-old Alexander McMillon, allegedly opened fire on a sergeant during the chaotic scene.

According to Lieutenant Lowell Neinast of the department, the ordeal began when a caller reported shots being fired at a residence on Fiesta Lane around 1am. Initially, officers detained McMillon near the scene, but he quickly turned the tables by firing at them as they were taking him into custody. A SWAT team was swiftly deployed to track down the second suspect.

Police Chief Neinast warned that public safety would be his top priority, stating that the individual in question was "running and scared." After extended negotiations, 38-year-old Elridge Strauss was finally apprehended and taken into custody.

However, what made this incident even more alarming was that Strauss fired at not only police officers but also at three different homes. To mitigate the risks, authorities set up roadblocks near the intersection of Preston Street and Collins Road, effectively cutting off access to the area.

In a press conference later in the day, Chief Neinast revealed that it's believed the shooter knew someone inside one of the targeted homes, suggesting a possible familial connection between all parties involved. However, he declined to provide further details due to ongoing investigations.

According to police reports, Strauss faces multiple charges including assault family violence, unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of deadly conduct. McMillon has been charged with an unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

๐Ÿคฏ This Richmond Texas thing is wild... like what's goin on over there? You got some dude just losin' it, firin' at cops and homes, and then the other dude is all "oh I'm gonna run away" ๐Ÿ˜‚ but no one can catch him ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And then they gotta set up roadblocks and cut off access to the area... like what's next? Is this some kinda crazy hostage situation or somethin'? The part that freaks me out tho is when it's mentioned that the shooter allegedly knew someone in one of the homes... that's just creepy ๐Ÿค•. It's all just so unpredictable and disturbing ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿšจ This incident is giving me major anxiety vibes... I mean, can you even imagine walking into your home at 1am and hearing gunfire? It's just horrific. And to think that the shooter was actively targeting people inside their own homes... it's like, what kind of person does that? ๐Ÿคฏ

I'm also really concerned about the fact that the police officer who was shot is still alive, but only because he turned the tables on the shooter. That's a huge risk for any cop, and I can only imagine how traumatic this must be for him. And now we know that there were at least three homes that were targeted... it's like a real-life horror movie.

It's crazy to think about how quickly things escalated in that situation. One minute the police are trying to take McMillon into custody, and the next he's firing at everyone involved. I mean, what even triggers someone to do something like that? And now we have two suspects facing serious charges... it's just a nightmare.

I guess one good thing is that the police were able to deploy their SWAT team quickly and apprehend both suspects. But still, this whole incident feels so senseless and disturbing. Can't we just live in a world where everyone gets along and there's no more gun violence? ๐Ÿคž

OMG, like I'm still trying to process what happened in Richmond, Texas ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. This is literally crazy! Two suspects, one shoots at police, the other one starts shooting at homes too?! Like, what's going on here?! The fact that they knew someone inside one of those homes makes me even more anxious ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I don't think I could handle that kind of stress ๐Ÿคฏ. Police Chief Neinast is doing a good job keeping everyone safe by setting up roadblocks and all ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ช. But seriously, why did this happen?! It's just so senseless ๐Ÿ’”. Anyway, I'm rooting for the police to catch whoever is behind it all ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Strauss is gonna get what's coming to him ๐Ÿ˜ˆ. And poor McMillon, he should've stayed quiet ๐Ÿคซ.

man... these newfangled gadgets are just gonna make it easier for people to get caught up in crazy situations like this ๐Ÿคฏ think about it, if everyone had those smart home security cameras everywhere, we might've seen what was going on before things escalated... and what's with all the roadblocks? isn't that just gonna drive people around the block? we need to rethink our approach to public safety here...

๐Ÿšจ this is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ how can u just go around shooting at cops & homes? like what's wrong with this guy elridge strauss?? ๐Ÿค” he knew someone was home in one of those houses... that's some serious messed up stuff right there ๐Ÿ’€ and the fact that mcmillon opened fire on a sgt is wild too... why do people think they can just take matters into their own hands? ๐Ÿ˜ก these guys are lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ™

this is just another example of how easy it is to get your hands on a gun these days ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿšซ what's next, people gonna be able to just walk into a police station and start shooting? i mean, come on, how many lives do we need to lose before someone takes action? i'm not saying more guns are the answer, but what is it with all these shootings lately? it's like we're living in some kind of crazy movie ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿคฏ This whole thing is crazy! I mean, can you even imagine waking up in the middle of the night to shots being fired outside your house? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's like something straight out of a movie, but unfortunately it's real life for some people. ๐ŸŒŽ I feel so bad for the police officers who were involved in this incident, they're putting their lives on the line every time they respond to a call like that. ๐Ÿ’” And the fact that someone was firing at homes? That's just terrifying. How many people could have gotten hurt if those roadblocks weren't set up? ๐Ÿšง It's a good thing everyone is safe now, but it's also a reminder of how quickly things can escalate in our communities. We need to be vigilant and support each other when we're dealing with issues like this. ๐Ÿ’•

OMG u guys 1 suspect is pretty lucky he got caught lol Alexander McMillan must've thought firing at cops was gonna help him escape but instead he's in custody . meanwhile Elridge Strauss aka the shooter dude has some serious explaining to do - firing at innocent ppl & their homes is super crazy. authorities are being super cautious btw setting up roadblocks & all that. and what's with the familial connection tho? Like, did this guy know someone from one of those homes & just decided to take revenge or something idk. anyway Strauss is facing some major charges now so let's hope he gets the help he needs

I'm still trying to process what happened in Richmond, Texas ๐Ÿคฏ. Two guys just went crazy on Friday morning and shot at police officers and houses? It's insane. I mean, can you imagine being a police officer and having someone turn on you like that? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ The fact that one of them even fired at an actual sergeant is just wild.

And what really gets me is the second guy, Strauss, firing at multiple homes... that's just not right ๐Ÿค”. It's scary to think about the person he was targeting being inside one of those houses. I hope everyone involved is okay. The police chief seems like a pro and kept it together during the whole thing. Fingers crossed they catch more people involved in this mess ๐Ÿ‘.

This is getting crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! I mean, who fires at police officers AND people's homes? ๐Ÿคฏ Like, what's the plan here? If Strauss knew someone inside one of those homes, did he really need to go there? That's just not right, you know? And now we got two suspects and multiple charges... it's like a whole mess! ๐Ÿšจ I'm glad they were able to catch him eventually, but come on, how could this happen in broad daylight? ๐Ÿ˜’

Man, this Richmond Texas thing is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! Can you believe someone fires at the cops and then tries to shoot their way outta trouble? And it's not just the police, they're shooting into people's homes too... that's some wild stuff. I'm glad the second guy got caught but like, what was going on in his head? Did he know someone inside one of those houses? It's all so messed up ๐Ÿค”. The cops did a good job responding to the situation, though - I mean, it's not easy dealing with someone who's running from the law and has a gun. Hopefully, they can get a handle on what happened and keep their community safe ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

๐Ÿ˜• I'm still trying to wrap my head around what happened in Richmond, Texas, last Friday morning. It's just crazy that someone would do something so reckless and put innocent lives at risk... not to mention the homes where they fired at! ๐Ÿคฏ I can only imagine how scary it must've been for those families who had to huddle together for hours until it was all over.

As I read about this, I couldn't help but think of my own kids when they were younger and got into some mischief. It's a good thing the authorities took swift action to stop things from getting out of hand... but I'm just glad no one was seriously hurt! ๐Ÿ™ The fact that one of these guys might've known someone in the targeted homes? *shakes head* That's just not right, and I can only hope for a peaceful resolution. Fingers crossed the justice system works its magic ๐Ÿ’ซ

Can you believe what's going on in the US these days? ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, two people just firing at cops and homes like they're in a video game or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. And it's not just that, one of them even fires at an actual police officer ๐Ÿ’ฅ. I swear, back in my day we didn't have this kind of stuff happening all the time ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's just so unsettling to think about. And now they're saying one of the guys might've had a connection to someone in one of the homes? That's just creepy ๐Ÿ˜ณ. And let me tell you, I'm all for keeping people safe and everything, but sometimes I feel like our justice system is being stretched too thin ๐Ÿคฏ. Anyway, hope both McMillon and Strauss get what's coming to them ๐Ÿ‘Š.

ugh this is crazy what a dude does he just loses his cool on police officers and starts shooting into homes?? ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ like how can you be that reckless and put so many lives at risk? i'm glad the authorities were able to catch him eventually, but man it's lucky no one got seriously hurt ๐Ÿ™. family ties aside, whoever knew this guy must be super worried right now... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿ˜ณ I'm still shaking my head about this crazy incident in Richmond, Texas ๐Ÿคฏ! As a parent, you just want to know what's going on in your neighborhood without worrying that some random person is going to start firing at police officers or homes nearby ๐Ÿ˜จ. It's like, how do you even plan for something like this? ๐Ÿ˜• And the fact that one of these suspects knew someone inside a targeted home? ๐Ÿค” That just feels so... personal and scary.

And can we talk about the priorities here? Roadblocks are set up to cut off access to an area because of some guy's wild shooting spree? ๐Ÿšง It's like, what about the people who live there? Don't they deserve to be able to get in and out of their own homes without being treated like it's a war zone? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Anyway, I'm glad both suspects are behind bars now ๐Ÿš”. But as a parent, you can't help but wonder how this all could have happened and what measures should be taken to prevent it from happening again ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

omg what's going on in richmond texas right now ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿšจ two suspects arrested after one fired at police & shot into multiple homes 1 suspect opened fire on a sergeant ๐Ÿคฏ can't believe how crazy that must've been for the cops to deal with ๐Ÿ’ฅ and now there's talk of a possible familial connection ๐Ÿค” sounds really sinister

OMG what's wrong with people in Richmond TX ๐Ÿคฏ? Firing at police officers & shooting into multiple homes is totally insane ๐Ÿ’ฅ! I mean, can you believe Alexander McMillon thought he could just outsmart the cops & end up being arrested while firing on a sergeant? ๐Ÿ˜‚ And now we got another guy Elridge Strauss who's all like "I'm gonna run and scared" ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ, but really he shoulda stayed calm & cooperative. I don't get why people think they can just go around doing whatever & not face the consequences ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. At least the police were able to negotiate with Strauss, but it's still super concerning that he knew someone inside one of those targeted homes ๐Ÿค”... hopefully justice is served soon โš–๏ธ

omg what's wrong w/ people these days? firing at cops & homes like it's no big deal ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Richland, Texas is literally the worst ๐ŸŒƒ. I mean, one guy starts shooting at the cops and they just chill for a sec while SWAT takes out another dude? that's some top-notch law enforcement skills right there ๐Ÿ™„. can we please get some answers about what was goin' on in those homes tho? familial connection or just a random Tuesday ๐Ÿ˜’. anyway, these 2 dudes are lookin' at some serious time - multiple charges for assault, firearms & deadly conduct, yikes ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.
