Rightwingers are trying to destroy women's right to vote | Moira Donegan

The Dark Side of the Right: A New Era of Sexism

A disturbing trend has emerged in American politics, as right-wing voices seek to strip women of their right to vote. This resurgence of sexism, long considered a fringe issue, now threatens to normalize discriminatory attitudes toward women's participation in the public sphere.

A growing number of influential figures on the far-right Republican party and the MAGA movement have begun to call for women to lose their voting rights. While this is not a new development – opposition to women's suffrage has been a persistent feature of American conservatism since the 19th century – it has now gained traction, with many prominent voices openly advocating for restrictions on female citizenship.

Some of these advocates claim that women are intellectually and morally unfit for citizenship, and should therefore be excluded from political participation. Others argue that women have "evolved" to become too empathetic, gossipy, or passive-aggressive, making them unsuitable for public life.

But beneath the surface lies a far more sinister ideology – one that views women as inherently inferior to men, deserving of male domination and control. This is exemplified in the words of Andrew Tate, who recently posted on his social media account: "Stop letting women vote, stop giving women position as judges, stop giving women political appointments… WOMEN: giving you political and social power is how we ended up here."

This toxic attitude towards women's citizenship has gained mainstream credibility, with some respectable thinkers and writers peddling the idea that women's rights are somehow a threat to society. As one pundit recently noted, "Rights, like jobs, can be gender-coded, and these rights are valued accordingly."

The implications of this trend are alarming. If women's participation in politics and public life is deemed less valuable than men's, it sets a worrying precedent for the erosion of female citizenship. The notion that women's rights should be restricted or revoked for their own "good" is a thinly veiled form of sexism, using pseudoscience and condescension to disguise its true intentions.

It is imperative that we recognize this as what it is – a blatant attempt to undermine the progress made by women in education, the workforce, politics, and public life. The backlash against women's advancement is being peddled by those who claim they are fighting for the "greater good," but their words ring hollow when examined closely.

As we move forward, it is crucial that we stand firm against these attempts to limit female citizenship. We must reject the notion that women's participation in politics and public life is somehow less valuable than men's, and recognize the inherent dignity and worth of all citizens – regardless of gender.

I'm getting so fed up with this 🤯, it's like they're trying to roll back progress or something. I mean, come on, women are just as capable and intelligent as men, and they've made huge strides in education, careers, and politics too. It's not like they need some guy telling them what they can and can't do. And this idea that women are somehow less fit for citizenship because of their emotional nature is straight out of a bad joke 🙄. We need to call this out for the sexism it is and fight for equal rights for everyone, no matter what.

🙅‍♂️ this is getting scary - they're basically saying women aren't good enough to vote or hold positions of power 🤦‍♀️ it's like they think we're not smart or capable 💁‍♀️ and honestly, it makes me so angry that people are trying to erase the progress we've made as a society 🔥 we need to stand up for ourselves and our rights and not let anyone try to take them away from us 💪

omg u wont believe what i just saw on twitter 🤯 some ppl r sayin we should limit womens vote bc they cant make good decisions lol like what even is that kinda logic? i dont get it why wouldnt women be able to vote and participate in politics its like they think women r not smart or somethin idk bout these "pseudoscience" arguments they r just a bunch of hooey 🙄

ugh its getting worse over here right now 🤯 people actually think they can control us just because of our biology... like no way feminism isnt about equality and we deserve equal rights to vote and participate in politics... its not a privilege its a human right 😡

This dude Andrew Tate is literally insane 🤯. I mean, what even is his point? That women are naturally weaker and should be controlled by men? Like, that's not how it works in 2025 at all! We're living in a society where women can run for president and win (like Kamala Harris), they're CEOs, scientists, and leaders everywhere. If anything, the opposite of what he's saying is true – women are just as capable and intelligent as men, and we should be giving them more power and opportunities to make their voices heard.

And the fact that people are actually listening to this nonsense is super concerning. I mean, have you seen the numbers on women in politics? They're still ridiculously low compared to men. It's like, come on guys, get with the times! We need more women in positions of power to make sure everyone's voice is heard, not just a select few.

It's also wild that people are using science and facts to back up this anti-women rhetoric. Like, what's next? They're gonna tell us that IQ scores are somehow linked to gender or something? No way! We need to call out this BS and stand up for women's rights. We can't let sexist ideologies dictate our laws and policies.

🤝 I feel like we're at a point where people need to take a deep breath and talk things through, you know? This sexism thing is getting out of hand and it's not okay. 🙅‍♀️ The idea that women are somehow less capable than men is just not true and it's so unfair.

I think we need to focus on what's really important here - equality and respect for all citizens, regardless of gender. We should be supporting women's rights and promoting positive change, not trying to roll back progress. 🌈 It's not about being "feminist" or "not feminist", it's just about treating everyone with dignity and respect.

I'm getting a bit frustrated reading some of these arguments - they're just not based on facts or reason, they're just hurtful and divisive. 🤬 We need to be better than that as a society. Let's try to have a calm and rational discussion about this, shall we? 💬

🚨 This whole thing is super concerning 🤕... I mean, I know we've had our share of sexist attitudes before, but to see it gaining traction again from people who are supposed to be "influencers" is just mind-blowing 🤯. Like, what's next? Are they gonna try to strip us of our right to own property or something? 😱

And what's with all this nonsense about women being "intellectually unfit" for citizenship? That's just a bunch of codswallop 💥. Women are just as capable and intelligent as men, and we shouldn't be judged based on our gender. It's like they're trying to rewrite history and make us believe that women have always been inferior or something 📚.

And don't even get me started on the whole "women are too emotional" thing 😂. Like, what's wrong with a little bit of empathy? That's just called being human, right? 🤗

Anyway, I think it's high time we spoke out against this kind of toxic ideology and stood up for women's rights once and for all 💪. We can't let people like Andrew Tate dictate how we live our lives and make decisions about who gets to participate in society 👮‍♂️.

the way some ppl are talkin about womens right 2 vote is just lowkey terrifying 🤯 it's like they really think womens brains r inferior or smthn & that we cant handle bein part of politics & society... newsflash: we can 💁‍♀️, we're not stupid or weak. it's all about control & power, plain & simple 👊

🤔 I mean, think about it... the whole thing with women losing their right to vote? It sounds like a total overreaction, right? 🙅‍♂️ But then again, isn't it kind of true that some politicians are just trying to stir up controversy and get attention? 📰 Maybe they're not as bad as everyone's making them out to be? 😒 On the other hand, maybe this whole thing is actually a clever ploy to make women feel like their rights are being threatened, which would ultimately lead to more people speaking out against sexism... hmm, my mind's all messed up! 🤯

🚨 73% of Americans believe women should have equal voting rights 🗳️
📊 Women make up only 29% of the US Congress 🤔
🎯 The number of women in politics has increased by 59% since 1992 🚀
But did you know that 1 in 5 Republican voters support restricting women's right to vote? 🤝
📊 Women are underrepresented in STEM fields, making up only 27% of scientists and engineers 💻
The trend is clear: sexism is not a fringe issue anymore, it's becoming normalized. We need to reject this ideology and promote equality for all citizens. 🙌

🚨 The fact that some people think women should be stripped of their right to vote just because of their sex is totally unacceptable 🤯. It's like they're saying women are not good enough or smart enough to make decisions about their own lives and futures... it's a really creepy and controlling attitude 💁‍♀️.

And what's even more disturbing is that some people are actually buying into this toxic ideology and thinking it's okay 😔. Like, women's rights being a threat to society? Give me a break 🙄. Women have been making huge contributions in education, the workforce, politics, and public life for decades, and they're not going anywhere anytime soon 💪.

We need to stand up against this kind of sexism and misogyny immediately 💥. It's not okay to tell women what they can or can't do based on their sex 🚫. Every citizen deserves equal rights and respect, regardless of gender 👥. We should be celebrating the progress we've made as a society, not trying to roll back it 🔥.

We need to call out these people who are peddling this kind of hate speech and toxic ideology, and we need to support women's rights organizations and advocacy groups that are fighting for equality 💕. Let's stand together and say enough is enough 😤

THIS TRENDS IS SO FREAKING ALARMING!!! IT SEEMS LIKE WE'RE SEEING A RESURGENCE OF SEXISM AND PATRIARCHY IN AMERICAN POLITICS! THESE RIGHT-WING VOICES ARE TRYING TO LIMIT WOMEN'S RIGHT TO VOTE AND PARTICIPATE IN PUBLIC LIFE, AND IT'S BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN FEAR OF LOSING POWER!

I MEAN, COME ON!!! IF WE'RE GOING TO DISCUSS CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS, LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW WE CAN MAKE SURE ALL CITIZENS HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO EDUCATION, JOBS, AND POLITICAL PARTICIPATION! WE CAN'T JUST LIMIT WOMEN'S RIGHTS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE THINK THEY'RE "INFERIOR" OR NOT "INTUITIVE ENOUGH" FOR PUBLIC LIFE!

AND WHAT'S WITH THE SO-CALLED "PSEUDOSCIENCE" Argument?! IF WOMEN ARE INTELLIGENT AND MORALLY CAPABLE, THEN WHY CAN'T WE JUST GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO SHOW US?! IT'S TIME WE STOPPED BELIEVING THAT MACHISM IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD!

OMG, this right-wing thingy is straight outta a dystopian novel 🚨👀 I mean, can't they just chill? Women voting is like, basic human rights, you know? It's not like they're gonna let the world come to an end if we let girls have a say in politics. And what's with this "women are too emotional" or "women are too gossipy" nonsense? Like, hello, those are just traits that make them interesting and effective leaders 🙄

And seriously, who does Andrew Tate think he is, talking about women like they're some kinda fragile eggs? Newsflash, dude: women can hold their own in politics and public life, no problem. It's time to stop trying to control them and just let them be 👯‍♀️

🤣👀😂[screenshot of a cartoon character with a "Vote for me" sign being punched by a giant male fist] 🤷‍♂️🚫😒 [gif of a woman with a "brain" emoji exploding in the background, while a man is shown smiling and holding a "I'm smarter than that" sign] 👊💁‍♀️ [image of Andrew Tate with a magnifying glass over his head, highlighting the word "sexist"] 🚫👎

omg what a dark time for america 🤯😱 this sexism thingy has no place in our society, period. i mean come on, women are just as intelligent and capable as men, so why should they be stripped of their right to vote? its not like they're asking for the moon or anything 💁‍♀️🗳️ and those influencers saying women are too emotional or whatever need to get a grip 🙄. i'm seriously worried about what's going on with some people's brains, it's like they've forgotten basic human rights 🤯. we need to stand up for our sisters and brothers and say enough is enough 💪.

this is getting out of control 😱 some people think women shouldnt be able to vote just because they have opinions and can make decisions for themselves, it sounds like a bunch of entitlement 🤷‍♀️ newsflash: just because someone has an opinion or can participate in politics, doesnt mean they cant handle the responsibility 💁‍♀️

I'm totally appalled by this trend 🤯. It's like they're trying to erase decades of progress made by women in every aspect of society. The idea that women are somehow intellectually or morally unfit for citizenship is just plain sexist 🙄. And what's with the pseudoscience about women being too "gossipy" or "passive-aggressive"? That's just a lazy excuse for misogyny 🤷‍♀️.

I mean, come on, if we're really going to talk about women's citizenship, let's at least have a nuanced discussion about it. Let's acknowledge the ways in which society has historically marginalized and excluded women from power, but also recognize that women's participation is essential for creating a more inclusive and equitable world 🌎.

This kind of toxic attitude towards women is not only damaging to individual women, but also to our collective democracy 🤝. We need to stand up against it and fight for the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of gender 👍.

this is so messed up 💔, people are trying to take away our right to vote just because they think women are not good enough or strong enough, it doesn't make sense 🤷‍♀️, women have just as much brainpower and capabilities as men, and we should be able to make our own choices without being judged by others. plus, what's with all the sexist comments from people like Andrew Tate? 😒 his words are literally saying that women are only good for one thing - giving power to men 🙅‍♂️, it's time to stop this toxic attitude and accept that women deserve equal rights too 👊

omg u guys i cant even rn i saw this article about how right wing ppl r trying to take away womens voting rights and it's literally so sickening 🤯👎 like wut kinda world do we live in where ppl think women r not good enuf 2 vote? and its not just some fringe group ppl r saying this too - even some "respectable" thinkers r peddling this sexist ideology 💁‍♀️🚫 i mean what's next? taking away their rights 2 get an edu or a job? 🤷‍♀️ it's all about control and patriarchy rn, and we need 2 stand up 4 womens rights ASAP 💪
