Russian attack on Ukraine kills six as Kyiv envoys travel to US for talks

Russia's latest assault on Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of six people and left dozens more injured. The assault targeted the city of Kyiv, causing widespread destruction and leaving over 400,000 households without power.

The Ukrainian government condemned Russia's actions as part of its "war plan" to kill and destroy. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia launched about 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones in the attack, with the majority landing on residential buildings and infrastructure.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that at least 29 people were wounded, many due to falling debris from intercepted Russian drones. The city's western part lost power following strikes on its grid.

EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova expressed skepticism about Russia's stated interest in a peace deal, saying that instead Moscow is pursuing "missiles, not diplomacy."

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy has led his negotiating team to the United States in an effort to secure a "dignified peace" and an end to the war. The Ukrainian delegation includes former defence chief Rustem Umerov, who will be meeting with US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

On the military front, Ukraine has launched strikes against Russia's "shadow fleet", a collection of tankers used to export oil around the world while evading Western sanctions. The Ukrainian Security Service carried out the operation using marine drones, causing significant damage to the vessels.

🚨🌊 OMG you guys its like crazy on the Ukraine front! 🀯 Russia just dropped 36 missiles and 600+ drones on Kyiv and its like total chaos 😱 they hit residential buildings and infrastructure leaving over 400k households without power πŸ’‘

Did u know that Ukraine lost at least 29 people & many more injured from falling debris? πŸ€• also the city's western part is still in the dark due to strikes on their grid πŸŒƒ

On a related note, Russia's military has like a huge shadow fleet of tankers evading sanctions πŸ€‘ but Ukraine just took them down with marine drones! πŸ’₯ they called it an op against "shadow fleet" πŸš’πŸ’£

the EU is being all skeptical about Russia's intentions for peace btw... πŸ€” Katarina Mathernova said they're more into missiles than diplomacy πŸ˜’

anywayz Ukraine's President Zelenskyy & his team are on a mission to secure a "dignified peace" in the US πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ they're meeting with US officials including Marco Rubio & Jared Kushner πŸ‘₯

I'm not surprised by this latest escalation in Ukraine πŸ€”. It feels like we're just seeing more and more of the same old tactics from Russia πŸ˜’. I mean, missiles and drones everywhere? That's just not something you can talk your way out of when it comes to peace talks πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. And let's be real, 400,000 households without power? That's a big deal 🀯.

I'm also skeptical about the whole "peace plan" thing πŸ™„. If Russia was really interested in talking things through, wouldn't they be making more of an effort to explain what that means and how it would work? I don't see any real progress on that front πŸ“Š.

It's all just a lot of noise right now, if you ask me πŸ—£οΈ. The US is over here trying to broker some kind of peace deal, but Russia seems more interested in flexing its military muscle πŸ’ͺ. And Ukraine? They're just trying to survive and get their country back on its feet πŸ’•.

come on guys, don't be so quick to blame russia lol, like we dont know what really happened? 400k households without power? that's not just russia's fault, its also kyiv's infrastructure lol. and what about the drone strikes? were they just random or was it a coordinated attack? also, ukraine launching strikes on russia's oil tankers? thats like playing with fire, wont that just escalate things? i mean, zelenskyy is trying to secure a peace deal, but does europe even care? is it just about geo-politics and sanctions all day?

omg can't believe russia is still at it 🀯🚨 they're literally raining down missiles on civilians and expect us to believe they care about peace? πŸ˜’ got to wonder what's really going through Putin's head tbh πŸ€” meanwhile zelenskyy is over here trying to negotiate with the best of them, good luck to him πŸ‘ it's all about diplomacy and not missiles πŸ’‘ btw can we talk about how ukrainians are basically the ultimate underdogs? πŸ˜…

🚨 what's the point of all these attacks? Can't they see they're just causing more suffering & destruction? I'm so done with this never-ending cycle of violence... 🀯 400k households without power, like, what's the logic behind that?! πŸ’” is it really worth it for Russia to risk their own people's lives over some kind of territorial dispute? Meanwhile, Ukraine's trying to find a way out & get a dignified peace – can't we just support them on this?! 🀝
