man this is so weird... remember when books actually had a real impact on the literary scene? now it's all about amazon rankings and it feels like nobody cares unless you're in the top 15 or whatever lol, i mean dan sinykin saying it's "strikingly low" at no 5,546 is just brutal though, what happened to the days of actually buying books from newsstands or something? and now it's all online, i feel like we lost something precious

I'm so underwhelmed by Olivia Nuzzi's memoir, American Canto 
. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to invest all that hype in her book? The sales are just not there, and now the magazine is like "peace out" 
. It's like they knew it was gonna tank from the start and wanted to cut their losses. The whole thing feels kinda sketchy, you know? I'm also pretty confused by how Amazon's bestseller list works - it's all well and good until you realize it's just not that accurate 
. Anyway, Nuzzi's got some 'splainin' to do now...
