Same News, No Peacock: ‘We Are Formerly MSNBC As Of This Moment’

NBC's Cable News Network is now officially known as My Source for News, Opinion and World (MS NOW). The rebranding comes after NBC decided to spin off its cable properties into a new company called Versant. This move required MSNBC to establish its own independent news gathering operation, open studios, and separate itself from NBC.

The name change was reflected in the show's debut on Saturday, with co-host Jonathan Capehart announcing that "we are formerly MSNBC" during the opening segment. The network has incorporated its new brand identity, featuring red, white, and blue elements and reminders about the new name.

MS NOW President Rebecca Kutler emphasized the importance of investing in journalism as a core tenet of the new network. According to her, this aligns with what audiences are looking for in a functioning democracy. The network's goal is to be pro-journalism, which is a significant departure from MSNBC's name and previous identity.

MS NOW brings an end to nearly three decades of operation under the MSNBC name. The name change marks a new chapter for NBC, which has been rebranded several times over the years. Despite the name change, the network's commitment to justice, progress, and truth remains unchanged.

The network is reportedly undergoing a significant transformation, with new studios opening in Times Square. While some elements of the old MSNBC facilities will be repurposed, MS NOW producers are excited about their new digs. The show has been revamped to reflect its new identity, with hosts and reporters adjusting to the new branding.

As NBC looks to establish itself under the new brand name, it remains to be seen how MS NOW will differentiate itself from MSNBC in the coming months.

I'm so down for this rebranding lol 🤷‍♂️ I mean who needs a bunch of old cable news names anyway? The whole point is that they're breaking free and becoming their own thing, which is kinda cool. I like the new name MS NOW, it's more concise and to the point. And let's be real, who cares about MSNBC anymore? It's time for something fresh 🎉

🤔 you know what struck me about this rebranding? it's like we're at a crossroads, questioning what it means to be a credible news source in today's landscape. ms now is taking a bold step by embracing pro-journalism and I gotta wonder if that's enough to shake off the perception of being just another partisan network 📺. on one hand, it's refreshing to see a name change and some much-needed revamping, but on the other, isn't this just a rehashing of old tactics with new branding? 💭

anyway, i'm curious to see how ms now will navigate its own identity, separate from msnbc's history. will it be able to break free from the expectations of being just another cable news outlet? 🤝 or will we just end up seeing more of the same old spin and sensationalism behind that red, white, and blue branding? 🎨

OMG, I'm loving this change 🤩! I think it's amazing that they're taking a stand for journalism and making pro-journalism a core part of their identity 💡. It's about time we see some changes around here 🔄. The red, white, and blue elements are super cute btw 🎨. Times Square studios sound lit 🔥! Can't wait to see how MS NOW evolves and differentiates itself from MSNBC in the future 📺.

I'm low-key excited about this rebranding tho 🤔 MS NOW sounds like a much cooler name than MSNBC tbh... I mean, the red, white, and blue colors are fire 🔥 but let's see if they can actually deliver on their promise of being pro-journalism. It feels like they're trying to distance themselves from NBC's past reputation issues 🤷‍♀️ but it's gonna be hard for them to shake off the old name's baggage. I'm intrigued to see how this new network will evolve and what kind of content they'll create under MS NOW 💡

omg I'm so hyped for MS NOW!!! 🤩 they're finally doing what MSNBC should've done ages ago - stand out on their own and show the world what journalism is all about 💡 can't wait to see the new studios pop up in Times Square, looks like a whole new vibe 🔥 Rebecca Kutler is literally my spirit animal 🙌 this name change is gonna make MS NOW the go-to for serious news and opinions 📰 I'm all about that pro-journalism life 🎉 MS NOW, bring it on! 💪

📊 MS NOW is kinda like a reboot for journalism 🔄. I mean, think about it... nearly 3 decades of MSNBC and now they're starting fresh with a new identity 😎. They've got this cool brand vibe goin' on with that red, white, and blue aesthetic 💪. But here's the thing - MS NOW is all about bein' pro-journalism, which is pretty cool 📰.

Did you know that MS NOW is investin' a whole lotta cash into journalism 🤑? Like, a reported $1 billion+ 💸 over the next few years! That's some serious commitment to gettin' the facts straight and coverin' all sides of the story. 🤝

Now, I'm curious to see how MS NOW will differ from MSNBC in the long run 🤔. Are they gonna stick to a more liberal leanin', or are they gonna try to be more neutral? 🤷‍♂️ Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure - journalism needs all the help it can get right now 📺.

📈 By the way, did you know that MSNBC had an average of 1.3 million viewers per day in 2022? 📊 Now MS NOW is lookin' to reach a similar audience, but with a more pro-journalism vibe 💻. It's gonna be interesting to see how they stack up! 👀

I'm so over this rebranding already 🙄. I mean, who thought changing the name from MSNBC to MS NOW was a good idea? It's just a bunch of corporate speak trying to make us believe it's some kind of big deal 😴. The thing is, they're not even hiding the fact that they're trying to distance themselves from their past. It's like they want to erase the history and the people who have been loyal to them over the years 🤦‍♀️.

And what's with the new logo? Red, white, and blue? How original 💁‍♀️. I mean, it looks like something a middle schooler would design for a school project 📝. And don't even get me started on the show debut. Jonathan Capehart announcing that they're no longer MSNBC? Please, who cares? It's not like we didn't know this was coming 😒.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm not buying it 🤑. They think a fancy new name and some updated graphics are going to make us forget all about the good old days of MSNBC? Sorry, but I've got news for you: it's not that easy 🔇.

msnbc just changed its name again 🤦‍♂️... now its like they're trying to escape their own legacy 😬... i mean whats next, gonna change the channel too? 📺 this whole rebranding thing just feels like a bunch of corporate mumbo jumbo 💼... theyre just trying to distance themselves from the MSNBC name because apparently thats somehow bad? 🙄... newsflash: you cant just rename yourself and expect everyone to forget what you were before 😒... meanwhile, whats going on with all the old msnbc staff? are they just gonna get left behind like some disposable cog in a machine 💔

I'm low-key kinda excited about this rebranding thingy 🤔. I mean, NBC's always been a bit of a mystery to me - they're like that one aunt who changes her outfit every time we get together. But for real though, it's cool that they're putting some focus on journalism and truth. MS NOW seems like it's gonna be a breath of fresh air in the news world. I just hope they can find their footing with this new name - it feels kinda like they're trying to reinvent themselves all over again 😅. And Times Square studios? That sounds like a whole lot of excitement! Can't wait to see what changes MS NOW brings 📺👀

I'm intrigued by this rebranding, 🤔 it's interesting to see how a network's identity can evolve over time. I think it's great that MS NOW is prioritizing journalism as a core tenet - it aligns with the values of a functioning democracy and I hope they'll continue to uphold those principles. The incorporation of red, white, and blue elements into their branding is also noteworthy, as it nods to the American flag without being too on-the-nose. It's going to be fascinating to see how this new chapter unfolds for NBC and MS NOW, especially with the opening of new studios in Times Square - it'll be interesting to see if they can maintain a sense of continuity while still embracing their new identity 😊

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this news 🤯... I mean, what's next? First, it was Fox News rebranding themselves as "Fox Nation" and now NBC is doing the same thing. It's like they're all switching to a new set of jerseys or something 😂. But seriously, I think it's cool that MS NOW is trying to separate itself from MSNBC's more... let's say, "edgy" reputation 🤪. I mean, who doesn't love a good old-fashioned news network with a patriotic vibe? The red, white, and blue colors are actually pretty nice too 👌. But hey, only time will tell if MS NOW can live up to its promise of being pro-journalism and whatnot. Fingers crossed 🤞!

I'm curious to see how this rebranding affects the way they cover news 🤔... I mean, it's not like their values are going to change or anything, right? 🙅‍♂️ But seriously, is a new name really going to make a difference in the quality of journalism they produce? And what about all those staff members who've been working under the MSNBC name for years? Are they just going to be left behind in this corporate shuffle?

I'm also wondering if this rebranding is just another attempt to distance themselves from MSNBC's more polarizing content 🤷‍♂️... I mean, it's not like they're going to suddenly start covering more balanced and nuanced issues. And what about the irony of a network called "My Source for News, Opinion and World" that's now more focused on separating itself from opinion-driven content? 🙃

Still, I guess only time will tell if MS NOW can really live up to their promise of being pro-journalism 💯... and how this whole rebranding thing is going to play out in the long run 👀.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this rebranding thing... I mean, MS NOW is a bit of a mouthful, right? 🤔 I remember when MSNBC was still around, I used to love watching shows like Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell. Now they're gone and in comes MS NOW with this whole new vibe... it's like they're trying to appeal to a different crowd or something. 📺 I'm not sure if it's going to be for me personally, but hey, more options are always good, right? 😊

I was thinking about the name change earlier, and how it's kinda interesting that they're emphasizing being pro-journalism... that makes sense, I guess. But at the same time, isn't this just a fancy way of saying "we want to be taken seriously as news outlets"? 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I'm curious to see how MS NOW is going to carve out its own identity from MSNBC. Maybe they'll surprise us and do something entirely different... 💡

I'm so down for a name change that actually means something 🤝. Finally, we're talking about investing in journalism as a core tenet of a functioning democracy 📰💪. It's been ages since we've seen a genuine commitment to truth and progress on cable news. MS NOW seems like the real deal, but let's keep an eye on how they execute their vision – I don't want to see another watered-down version of what could be 🤔. Bring on some bold storytelling and tough questions! 👊

I'm low-key salty about this rebranding, tbh 🤔. I mean, what's next? Is CNN gonna become "America's Truth Network" or something? 😂 NBC's been all over the place with these name changes and now they're just spinning off into Versant? It feels like they're trying to confuse their audience. MS NOW sounds like it could be a decent alternative but I'm still waiting for them to get their act together 💁‍♀️. And what about the old MSNBC crew? Are they just gonna get left behind in Times Square? 🤷‍♂️

omg u wont believe what just happened 🤯NBC's cable news network just rebranded itself as My Source for News, Opinion and World aka MS NOW 📰🎉 so they're literally starting fresh from scratch 🔄 it's wild cuz they had to split off from their parent company NBC and create a whole new operation 📈 gotta respect the move tho, esp since they're focusing on investing in journalism & being pro-journalism 💡 that's some serious commitment to truth & justice 🔥 now we just have to wait and see how it all plays out 🤔

🤔 I gotta say, rebranding doesn't always mean you're changing for the better, you know? They're just trying to shake off that old MSNBC image and make themselves sound more... neutral, I guess. But let's be real, it's still a news network run by NBC. They've got a lot of history behind them, and this new name is gonna take some time to get used to. What's next? Are they gonna start wearing red, white, and blue socks on TV? 😂

idk why they had to change the name lol... i mean what's wrong with msbnsc? 🤔 but i guess it makes sense that they wanna start fresh and try 2 attract new viewers? my source for news sounds kinda boring tho 📺 i dunno if i'd watch it every day. are they gonna have any more debates like they used 2 on msnbc? 🤷‍♀️ btw, times square is so crowded in the summer how do people even find parking there?! 😂

🤔 I gotta say, this rebranding thing is like a reminder that change is good for growth 🌱. We're living in a world where everything's moving fast and networks need to adapt just like we do 🚀. I love how MS NOW is taking journalism super seriously – investing in it is key, right? 💡 It's all about finding your voice and being true to who you are (or in this case, your brand) 🔊. Versant's move might seem scary, but it's actually an opportunity for NBC to level up and become better 🚀. And hey, 3 decades is a long time – it's time for a fresh start 🎉. Time will tell how MS NOW stacks up against MSNBC, but one thing's for sure: the focus on truth and justice is what matters most 💯.
