Sammy Lee: 'Going to Spain was the best thing that happened to me after joining Liverpool'

I'm not sure if I fully agree that joining Osasuna was the pivotal moment for Lee... 🤔 I mean, don't get me wrong, it's been a great journey, but what about all the times he struggled to focus at Liverpool? 🤦‍♂️ Like, didn't that whole experience help him develop as a coach in some way? And isn't it possible that his time in Pamplona was just a nice break from everything? 😒 I'm not saying it's not been an incredible turnaround story or anything, but sometimes I wonder if we're giving too much credit to Osasuna... 🤷‍♂️

😊 The thing that really gets me is how Lee took the time to work on himself after leaving Liverpool... it's crazy how much of an impact that one year at Osasuna had on him! He talks about finding solace in Pamplona, but I think it's more than that - he found a new passion for coaching and helping others. As a parent, it makes me think about my own kid being lost or struggling to find their place... how we can support them, just like Lee supported himself 🤝💪

I'm not convinced about this coaching business... I mean, sure Lee's got some good credentials and all that but it just seems like he was lucky to find the right role at the right time. His journey from Osasuna to England's national team is impressive, don't get me wrong 🤔, but what about all the other coaches who didn't make it? Is it just a case of who you know and when? The media and politics thing doesn't sit well with me either... it sounds like all that pressure took its toll on him. Can't help but wonder if he's one of those coaches who's coasting on his reputation rather than actually doing the job 🤷‍♂️

🤯 I feel like this guy went from being kinda lost to finding himself, you know? Leaving Liverpool was a bummer, but it led him to find new purpose in Spain. Who knew the underdog life would be the catalyst for his coaching career? 😂 It's crazy how he credits Pamplona with helping him rediscover himself - I'm not surprised, though. Sometimes you gotta take a step back and find your mojo again.

I love how he talks about taking coaching as a way to make up for what was lacking in his playing days. That makes so much sense! 👏 And yeah, media pressure can be intense - it's no wonder he didn't mince words about that experience in Baden-Baden 🤦‍♂️. I think we can all relate to feeling like we're under a microscope sometimes.

What's also dope is how he emphasizes the importance of people and camaraderie over winning or losing. As someone who's been there, done that, I can attest to that being true 💖. So here's to coaching legends like him who show us that growth comes from stepping outside our comfort zones 🌟!
