Seven killed in Kyiv as Russia hits Ukraine's energy sector with missiles and drones

Seven people have lost their lives in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after a devastating missile and drone attack by Russia overnight, leaving 21 others injured. The assault, which began at around 1am, targeted the country's energy sector with 22 missiles, including four hypersonic Kinzhals, and 464 drones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attacks as a deliberate attempt to target civilian infrastructure and housing, calling them "cynical terror". The Ukrainian leader expressed concern that the continued military escalation could lead to more loss of life, emphasizing the need for all parties to prioritize diplomacy and work together towards peace.

The attack was particularly brutal in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district, where four people were killed and three injured when a warehouse near a supermarket chain was destroyed. Two more fatalities occurred when a nine-storey building was hit in another part of the city. The attacks also affected the surrounding areas, with drones crossing into Moldova and Romania, prompting a response from the Romanian military.

As diplomatic efforts to end the conflict continue, Ukrainian officials remain on high alert, urging caution against any perceived gains by Russia. Meanwhile, the international community is watching closely as fresh US-brokered peace talks unfold in Abu Dhabi.

Eyewitness accounts paint a dire picture of the damage inflicted by the Russian attack. A 90-year-old resident of a damaged building reported that "absolutely everything" was shattered, with glass raining down on her home. Another victim's son posted on Facebook, recognizing his father's body and expressing outrage at the senseless violence.

The attacks have further strained Ukraine's already weakened infrastructure, leading to power outages and disruptions in heat supply across the capital. The Russian military's use of drones has also raised concerns about its ability to evade detection and avoid accountability for its actions.

As Ukraine struggles to cope with the aftermath of this brutal assault, diplomats around the world are holding their breaths, hoping that the latest round of peace talks will bring a measure of calm and lead to a lasting resolution to the conflict.

🤯 just got word from a source that the US has been secretly feeding intel on Russia's military plans for months... meanwhile, Ukraine is getting hit with these brutal attacks & they're still scrambling to keep their stuff together 🚧💥 gotta wonder if some of this 'cynical terror' is actually just a smokescreen for something more sinister...

Wow 💥 the scale of destruction caused by those missile & drone attacks in Kyiv is absolutely horrific 🤯 21 people injured & 7 killed, it's just too much 💔 and I'm literally shaking thinking about those poor civilians having to witness such atrocities 😱 especially when you consider that a 90-yr-old lady said everything was shattered around her home... 😭

🌪️😱 The scale of this attack is just devastating... 22 missiles and 464 drones targeting Kyiv's energy sector? 🤯 That's like trying to hit every single building in the city with something. And the fact that four people were killed in one building alone, a supermarket near a warehouse? 💔 It's not just about numbers, it's about human lives lost. 🙏

I was looking at some maps of Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district and it's like a maze. The destruction is widespread... buildings destroyed, roads blocked off... it's like the city is in a war zone. 💥 And the drones crossing into Moldova and Romania? That's just crazy... what's next? 🤔

Diplomacy and peace talks are so important right now... we need to work towards a solution that doesn't involve more bloodshed. 💕 It's not going to be easy, but I have faith in the international community that they'll try to help Ukraine find some calm.

This is just heartbreaking 🤕. The thought of innocent people losing their lives and homes to a senseless attack is just devastating. I can imagine how scared the 90-year-old resident must have been, seeing her home get destroyed like that... it's just not right 😢. And the fact that diplomatic efforts are still on hold while the situation in Ukraine remains so dire is really frustrating 🤯. Can't we all just try to talk things out and find a peaceful solution? 🤞

🤕 Oh man, I cant even believe what's happening in Ukraine right now 🌍😱. It's like, we're living in a horror movie where innocent people are getting killed just because of politics 🤦‍♂️. I mean, 7 lives lost? That's crazy! And the fact that there are more than 20 injured people... it's just so sad 😔.

I feel like we should be talking about this way more in our school assemblies 📚🗣️. We always learn about history and how wars affect countries, but I wish we could connect it to real-life situations like this 🤝. It would help us understand the value of peace and diplomacy even better.

Ukraine is going through so much right now, and it's heartbreaking 💔. I hope those peace talks in Abu Dhabi can really bring some change 💫. We need to come together as a global community to stop these kinds of attacks 🌎💕.

omg i cant even right now 🤯 these innocent ppl in kyiv gotta be goin thru hell😩 22 missiles n 464 drones? thats like somethin outta a nightmare 😱 russian military, cant u see whats happenin here? its not just about winin or losin, its lives 💀& homes🏠. zelenskyy said it best, "cynical terror" is exactly what this feels like 🤖. dont even get me started on the power outages & heat supply disruptions... my heart goes out 2 all these ppl dealin w/ dis 💔

It's hard to wrap my head around this senseless violence. I mean, what even is the point of all these missiles and drones? It's not like it's gonna solve anything 🤯. We're just pawns in some bigger game, right? The fact that 21 people got hurt and 7 lost their lives is a harsh reminder of how quickly things can spiral outta control ⚠️.

And what really gets me is the use of hypersonic missiles. Like, what's the point of having tech that can travel at Mach 5 if we're just gonna waste it on civilians? It's like, we should be striving for some kind of global understanding and cooperation, not engaging in these kinds of destructive acts 💔.

I guess what I'm saying is, we need to take a step back and rethink our priorities. Can't we find a way to resolve our differences without resorting to such brutal force? The international community is watching, but are they really doing enough to pressure Russia into changing its ways 🤷‍♂️?

I feel like we're stuck in this never-ending cycle of violence, and it's exhausting 💥. We need to find a way to break free from it, to create a new narrative that values human life over military might 🌈.

this is just gettin crazy 🤯, like 22 missiles n 464 drones? what's next? china or usa gonna drop some heat too lol. but seriously, can't we all just talk it out? diplomacy is key here 💬 and btw, who's thinkin' about the ppl in kyiv livin thru this? power outages n no heat? that's straight cruel 😩

man I'm so worried about the innocent ppl affected by dis missile & drone attack 🤕😔 they're just tryin 2 live their lives in kyiv & now they r losin loved ones & homes 😢 it's like, we gotta do somethin to stop dis senseless violence & bring peace 2 the table ASAP 💬🌎 the fact that drones crossed into moldova & romania is super concerning too 🚨💥 can't we just talk 2 each other instead of fightin? 🤝💖

Man, this is so devastating 🤕😱 Russia's actions are literally causing innocent people to lose their lives & homes 🏠💔 The way they're using drones is super concerning, it's like they think they can just fly in and out without anyone noticing 😳🚫 The fact that 464 drones were deployed is crazy! 🤯 And for what? So they can try to terrorize the civilians? No way, Jose 💁‍♀️🔥 Ukraine needs our support now more than ever ❤️🇺🇦 We gotta keep pushing for peace talks & diplomatic solutions 📝💬 The world is watching, Russia, and we won't stand for this kind of brutality 😤👊 #NotMyWar #PeaceForUkraine #RussiaStopTheDroneAttack

Ugh, what's going on in Ukraine is really heartbreaking 🤕. I mean, 7 people already lost their lives and 21 others injured? That's just devastating. And it's not like the Russians are even hiding behind their military tactics - they're out there using missiles and drones to attack civilian infrastructure and housing... it's just so reckless.

And you know what's even worse? The fact that we still don't have a clear resolution in sight. Diplomats are trying, but it feels like the same old cycle of violence is just going to keep repeating itself. I mean, Ukraine needs help and support now more than ever, not just some empty promises of peace talks that might never materialize.

I'm also really concerned about the Russian military's use of drones - it's like they think they're above the law or something? Using them to attack civilians is just a war crime waiting to happen. We need to make sure those responsible are held accountable and that we're not enabling this kind of behavior anymore.

It's just so sad to see what's happening in Ukraine right now... I hope we can all come together soon to find some real solutions to this conflict 🤞.

🤯 OMG u guys can't believe what's happening in Ukraine rn 😱 22 missiles & 464 drones!!! how can they even count on this 🤷‍♀️? The fact that the Russian military is using drones to avoid detection is straight up scary 💀 and those eyewitness accounts from Kyiv are just heartbreaking 😭. like, who does this to a 90-year-old woman's home?! 🏠💔 I'm literally praying for the people of Ukraine right now 🙏, they deserve so much better than this senseless violence 💔

aww man, this is just so heartbreaking 😭💔... 7 lives lost in one attack? it's like, what's the point of all this war and fighting? 🤯 can't we just talk it out and find a peaceful solution? 💬

i mean, i know diplomacy takes time and effort, but come on, let's try to work together here 🤝. 22 missiles and 464 drones? that's like, whoa, that's a lot of hurtin' goin' on 😩. and the fact that some people got killed in their own homes? it's just so senseless 💔.

i'm keepin' my fingers crossed for those peace talks to work out 🤞. we need more people talkin' about love and understanding, not hate and aggression ❤️. let's try to be better, folks 👍.

Man, what's going on in Ukraine?! 😱 22 missiles and 464 drones? That's just insane! It's like they're trying to level the whole city. I can imagine how terrifying it must be for those people living there. 🤯 The fact that a 90-year-old lady's home was shattered with glass raining down on her is just heartbreaking. My heart goes out to all those innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

But what's even more worrying is that this is not an isolated incident. It feels like Russia is escalating their attacks, and it's getting harder for Ukraine to defend themselves. 🤔 The international community needs to step up and put pressure on both sides to negotiate a ceasefire. Diplomacy over diplomacy, you know? 💬 It's time to stop the bloodshed and find a way forward.

I'm also curious about those peace talks in Abu Dhabi. Will they really bring about a lasting resolution to this conflict? 🤞 I hope so. The world needs more peaceful solutions like that rather than just relying on military might. Let's keep our fingers crossed for Ukraine and all the innocent people affected by these brutal attacks. 💕

this is just getting out of hand, missiles & drones raining down on civilians it's like a war zone in there, can't believe the Russians are still at this 🤯, and what's with the lack of progress in those peace talks, seems like they're just kicking the can down the road 🕰️. i mean, 90-year-old grandma gets her whole house destroyed by glass & rubble, that's just heartbreaking 💔, and now power outages are affecting a lot of people, it's like a humanitarian disaster waiting to happen 🌪️, we need to find a way to stop this senseless violence ASAP 👊.

Ugh, can't even browse these forums without feeling like I'm stuck in some kind of limbo 😩. The news about Ukraine is always so depressing, but it's not like we can do anything about it. And don't even get me started on how long it takes for the articles to load... like, I just want to see what people are saying without having to wait 30 seconds for the whole thing to appear 🙄.

And have you noticed how clickbait-y all these headlines are? "Devastating Missile Attack" or whatever. Like, can't they just be honest with us for once? It's not like we're going to find out anything new from some sensationalized headline 😒. Just get on with the story already! 💨

I swear, sometimes I think the most frustrating thing about all this is how nobody ever talks about the actual issues here... infrastructure, diplomatic efforts, all that jazz 🤷‍♂️. It's always "oh no, Russia did something bad" or "poor Ukraine". Where are the articles that actually analyze what's going on and what we can do to help? 🤔
