I think this report is really highlighting a massive issue that most people aren't talking about. Like, yes, mental health matters and we need support systems in place, but it's not just about individual therapy sessions
. We need a systemic change here - more funding for services, better work-life balance policies, and an overall shift in how we view parenting as a community effort
.
I don't know how many mothers are going to "suffer in silence" because it feels like they're already doing that by just trying to keep their heads above water
. We need to start valuing the work that moms do, and not just see them as caregivers but also as individuals with their own needs and stressors
.
It's not all doom and gloom though - I love that the government is finally starting to take some steps in the right direction
. An extra £688m for mental health services is a good start, and let's hope they follow through on it
. But like any issue, this one needs more nuance and less empty promises
.
