Seven teams outside of the preseason Super 25 to keep an eye on

Three teams, Lockport, Lyons, and Palatine, are looking to rise up the ranks this season as sleeper contenders in Illinois high school basketball.

Lockport's potent junior trio of Nathan Munson, Nedas Venckus, and Nojus Venckus will lead the charge, backed by a host of 6-4 seniors filling key roles under coach Dave Wilson. The Porters' strong summer performance made them an early sleeper to watch this winter.

Lyons is poised for a resurgence after a couple of subpar seasons, with talented guard Owen Carroll and juniors Timmy Sloan and Grant Smith leading the way. Coach Tom Sloan's team should easily surpass last year's win total and push into the Super 25 rankings at some point this season.

Palatine, meanwhile, is seeking to build on its magical run from a year ago, when it finished fourth in Class 4A under coach Eric Millstone. With five of their top seven players returning, including Illinois football recruit Tony Balanganayi and three-year starting guard Darrin Dick, the Pirates have all the ingredients to make another deep playoff push.

These teams will be worth keeping an eye on as they look to shake up the Illinois high school basketball landscape this season.

OMG did u see dat Lockport's squad is loaded w/ talent 🀯! Nathan Munson, Nedas & Nojus Venckus r like 3-headed monster on the court πŸ”₯! And Seniors are comin' in strong too πŸ’ͺ. I'm low-key thinkin they got a shot at that top spot this year... Fingers crossed for a wild playoff run πŸ˜…

I'm loving these sleeper contenders in IL HS hoops 🀩! You gotta wonder if the current system is doing enough for these talented young players, especially with Lockport and Palatine having some of their top talent return from last year's deep playoff runs...it's like they're already getting a leg up on the competition!

Now, I'm not saying the coaches aren't doing their part, but is it fair to say that the Illinois HS sports scene should be incentivizing these teams to produce winners every year? Like, if you finish top 4 in Class 4A one year, do you get extra funding for the next season? It's like they're playing with fire...and a whole lot of talent!

just saw this article about Lockport & Lyons looking good for this season πŸ€” and i gotta say, Palatine's still a dark horse in my book. people might sleep on them because they're not as flashy as some of the other teams, but that 4A finish last year was no fluke πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ i mean, their depth is definitely something to be reckoned with. also, have you seen Tony Balanganayi play football? dude's a beast! πŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈ

Wow! 🀯 Those junior talents at Lockport are looking fire! Interesting how they're gonna mesh with their seniors and see what magic happens under coach Wilson's guidance πŸ’‘.

Wow 🀯 those guys are gonna bring some fire πŸ”₯ to the court, I'm hyped for the season πŸŽ‰! Lockport's got that potent junior trio and Palatine's got all the pieces with their returnees, can't wait to see Lyons make a resurgence too πŸ”„. The competition is gonna be fierce but it'll be awesome to watch these teams go up against each other πŸ’ͺ!

I'm not exactly sure what a "Sleeper Contender" means but I get it, these 3 teams are gonna do well this season πŸ€” They got some talented players like Nathan Munson and Owen Carroll which should help them win some games. Lockport's summer performance was pretty impressive so that's a good sign for them. What's with all the "Super 25 rankings" though? Is it like a big award or something? πŸ’ͺ

Omg u gotta watch these teams esp Lockport 🀯 their juniors r gonna be huge! Nathan Munson, Nedas & Nojus Venckus are a force 2 b reckoned with πŸ’ͺ🏼 meanwhile Lyons is lookin like a sleeper contender too πŸ€” Owen Carroll & Timmy Sloan r talent overload 🀯 Palatine's got the firepower 2 make another deep run πŸ”₯ Eric Millstone's gonna lead 'em 2 victory πŸ™Œ

πŸ€” I'm kinda thinking these underdog teams might actually do something cool this year πŸ€. Lockport's got a talented squad, but can they keep it together? Lyons has some big names and it'll be interesting to see if they can live up to the hype. And Palatine, wow, that football recruit Tony Balanganayi is gonna bring the heat! πŸ’₯ I'm low-key rooting for these teams to make a dent in the rankings. Maybe we won't get another powerhouse team dominating everything like usual 😐. It's time for some new faces to step up and shake things up πŸ”„.

I think these teams got a shot at making some noise in the state 🀯! Lockport's squad is looking fire with that junior trio leading the way πŸ”₯, but I'm also hyped for Lyons and Palatine - both teams have the talent to take it to the next level ⚑️. I mean, it's crazy how far they've come from their subpar seasons last year πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I'm loving Coach Sloan's coaching style - that guy knows how to get the most out of his team πŸ’ͺ. And Palatine's gonna be tough with those returning players... this season is gonna be wild πŸ”΄πŸ‘Š!

OMG, I'm so stoked about these new teams looking to rock the Illinois high school hoops scene this season! Lockport's got that fire squad with Munson and his brothers - I can already imagine some epic games! 🀯 And Lyons is gonna be huge with Owen Carroll leading the charge... their summer showings were straight fire πŸ”₯. Palatine's got some serious depth, especially with Tony Balanganayi on the team - they're def a dark horse contender for the playoffs! πŸ’ͺ Can't wait to see these teams go head-to-head and shake things up in Illinois hoops πŸ€πŸ‘€

I love watching these new contenders rise up in Illinois hoops! 🀩 Lockport's got that young energy, you know? Munson, Venckus, and Venckus - those three are gonna be a handful for opposing teams! πŸ’ͺ And I'm curious to see how Lyons' team gels this year - Sloan's the coach, so he must know what makes his guys tick. πŸ‘Š Palatine's got some serious firepower with that football recruit Balanganayi... they're not messing around this season! 🀯 What's gonna be interesting is seeing which of these teams can stay consistent all winter long. πŸ’

.. these Illinois high school basketball teams are like a time capsule from back in the day πŸ•°οΈ. Remember when we used to watch college hoops with our parents and just couldn't get enough of it? πŸ˜† I mean, Lockport's got that sweet junior trio going on and Lyons has some serious talent coming through the juniors. It's gonna be interesting to see how they all jell together. And Palatine, man... they've got a solid squad from last year, so it'll be great to see what kind of magic they can whip up again. πŸŽ‰ The thing is though, in today's sports world, it feels like anyone can get hot and take down some top-ranked teams. So, yeah... let's keep an eye on these guys, but I'm also kinda rooting for the underdog teams to make a deep run too πŸ€”.

I'm loving these sleeper contenders in Illinois hoops 🀩! Lockport's junior trio is gonna be fire πŸ”₯, and I think their seniors are hyped enough to take it to the next level πŸ˜„. Lyons' Owen Carroll is a straight-up baller πŸ€, and I'm predicting they'll surpass last year's win total for sure πŸ’ͺ. Palatine's got some serious depth with that returning squad - can't wait to see what they do this season πŸ€”!

man i love how these small-town teams are trying to take over the state 🀩 like lockport's got that dope junior trio and lyons is looking fierce with owen carroll leading the charge, but you gotta wonder if they can stay consistent throughout the year... palatine's got some solid pieces returning from last year's run, but can they repeat? the whole thing just feels so cozy and nostalgic, like we're watching a classic 90s teen flick πŸ“Ί

I'm low-key hyped about these sleeper contenders but I gotta keep it real, Lockport's summer performance was solid but we'll see how they hold up against the top dogs πŸ’―. Lyons is definitely looking stronger with that talented guard Owen Carroll and the rest of their juniors stepping up, might just make a push for the Super 25 πŸ“ˆ. Palatine's gotta keep their momentum going from last season though, can't rely on just returning players to carry them through πŸ”₯. Still excited to see these teams shake up the Illinois high school basketball scene tho πŸ‘€

ooh i cant wait for these teams to show off their skills! lockport's got that fire πŸ”₯ and lyons is gonna blow up this year 🀯 palatine's squad is looking solid too, those returning players are gonna make some noise πŸ—£οΈ coaches wilson & tom sloan are gonna lead their teams to victory πŸ’ͺ super 25 rankings here we come!!!

I'm loving the vibe of these sleeper contenders in Illinois high school hoops! Lockport's got a solid foundation with that junior trio, and it'll be interesting to see how their team chemistry plays out under coach Wilson. I mean, 6-4 seniors are always gonna bring some depth, but can they mesh with the young guns? πŸ€”

Lyons is definitely looking to bounce back from those subpar seasons, and Owen Carroll's talent will undoubtedly make them a force to be reckoned with. Those juniors Timmy Sloan and Grant Smith better step up their game though - the team's gonna need some real depth if they wanna give the top dogs a run for their money.

Palatine, on the other hand, is looking pretty stacked this year. With Balanganayi leading the charge (literally, that football recruit is 6'7") and Darrin Dick bringing some serious veteran know-how... man, those Pirates could be in for another deep playoff run! I'd keep an eye on them closely to see how their chemistry holds up under coach Millstone's guidance. 🀯
