Ugh, the Home Office is like that one aunt who just won't get her act together
. I mean, 50k civil servants? That's just too many cooks in the kitchen, if you ask me. And don't even get me started on the scandals - Windrush, anyone?
It's like they're trying to make a mess of everything.
But seriously, reforming the Home Office isn't rocket science
. I think splitting it into two separate units is a good idea, but only if it means actually fixing the problems that are plaguing them. Improving leadership and culture might be a better bet than just throwing resources at the problem. I mean, if you're not getting results from your top people, what's the point? 
I'm curious to see how Shabana Mahmood handles it all. Will she go for the quick fix or try to dig deeper and really address the issues? Only time will tell
