I'm kinda torn on this one
. On one hand, Gareth Southgate's right that the flag debate can get pretty heated and it's not worth distracting from the actual football
. But at the same time, I think he's underestimating how much this stuff means to some people - for them, flying the St George's flag is a way of showing pride and loyalty, even if it's not perfect
.
I think Southgate's right that we should be focusing on unity and respect among fans, but can't just ignore the elephant in the room
. Maybe there's a middle ground where we can find a compromise that works for everyone?
