I mean I'm not surprised the writers drew inspiration from fandoms, it's like they say - everything is just one big mashup of ideas, right?
But what really gets me is that Rachel Reid was like totally upfront about using fanfic as a starting point. It's refreshing she owns up to it and doesn't try to hide the fact that her characters were influenced by Marvel.
And can we talk about how cool it is that fans are still speculating about the origins of the story? Like, I know some people might think it's weird, but I'm all for geeking out over fandoms. It just goes to show that fan fiction has a real impact on popular culture.
I've seen a lot of reactions from fans saying they're so glad they got to be a part of Reid's writing journey, even if it was just through her AO3 posts. And I can get behind that - sometimes all we need is someone to share our passions and let us know that what we love isn't weird or alone.
Anyway, enough about all that
. What I really want to say is...if you haven't checked out 'Heated Rivalry' yet, go give it a watch! The hockey scenes are lit
, but the romance stuff is where it's at for me.
