Stafford edges Maye for NFL MVP

Stafford edges Maye for NFL MVP award in narrow victory

In a thrilling contest, Matthew Stafford emerged as the winner of the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award, edging out Drake Maye by just one vote. Stafford received 24 first-place votes to Maye's 23, but ultimately took home the top honor with 366 points.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback led the league in passing yards (4,707) and touchdown passes (46), while throwing eight interceptions throughout the season. Despite a disappointing NFC championship game loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Stafford's impressive stats earned him the coveted award.

Maye, on the other hand, had an incredible regular season with 4,394 yards passing, 31 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. He led the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl, where he will face off against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. If Maye wins the championship game, he could potentially claim the NFL MVP award.

Myles Garrett took home the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously, setting a record for sacks with 23 in the season. The Cleveland Browns defensive end received all 50 first-place votes and was also named a unanimous All-Pro selection.

Christian McCaffrey won the Comeback Player of the Year award after playing in just four games due to injury, returning to play every game for the 49ers and having an impressive second half of the season. He finished third in MVP voting behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Matthew Stafford.

The Offensive Rookie of the Year award went to Tetairoa McMillan, who had 41 first-place votes after catching 70 passes for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns. The Panthers wide receiver led all rookies in stats and earned a well-deserved win in his first year as an NFL player.

πŸ€” Come on, guys! Stafford gets MVP by one vote? That's not even close πŸ™„. Maye had an insane regular season and led his team to the Super Bowl. If he wins that game, he should be the one with the award πŸ’ͺ. And what about all those interceptions? 8 in a whole season? That's like a rookie mistake πŸ˜‚. Stafford might've had more yards and touchdowns, but Maye was still putting up some crazy numbers πŸ“Š. I'm gonna keep an eye on that Super Bowl game though... who knows? 🀞

awww man that's so close for Maye πŸ€”πŸ’” he gave it his all and still came out on top. i feel like stafford had some crazy games tho πŸ’₯, but you can't deny the numbers. still super proud of maye for making it to the super bowl though 🏈❀️, that's no easy feat! maye will definitely be a favorite for next year's mvp award 😊

omg i'm so hyped 4 Matthew Stafford winning the MVP award lol like he def did it! i mean dont get me wrong Drake Maye was on fire too but Stafford's numbers were straight fire 🀯πŸ”₯ he led the league in passing yards & touchdown passes and still managed to throw 8 interceptions which is crazy considering how dominant he played. anywaise congrats 2 Stafford & his Rams squad! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

OMG, can you believe it? Matthew Stafford is the MVP 🀩! I was rooting for Drake Maye, but 366 points is no joke πŸ˜‚. I mean, Stafford had some amazing stats this season, and that's what won him the award. I'm still buzzing from all the excitement, especially after the NFC championship game though... πŸ˜”.

And congrats to Myles Garrett on setting a record for sacks 🀯! 23 sacks in one season? Unbelievable! And Christian McCaffrey's comeback story is truly inspiring πŸ’ͺ. He was down and out with an injury, but he came back stronger than ever. Tetairoa McMillan's rookie year is on fire too πŸ”₯!

Man, Matthew Stafford is on fire πŸ”₯! I'm loving how he led the Rams to those impressive passing yards and touchdown passes 🀯. And yeah, it's crazy that Drake Maye only lost by one vote πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Still, gotta give props to Maye for leading the Patriots all the way to the Super Bowl πŸ’ͺ! But I'm rooting for Stafford – he deserves that MVP award after putting up those sick stats 😎. And congrats to Myles Garrett on taking home the Defensive Player of the Year award πŸŽ‰ – 23 sacks is insane!

πŸ€” Stafford's narrow victory tells me that sometimes it's not about being the best, but about staying consistent and grinding out the work. 24 first-place votes might seem like a lot, but Maye was still just one vote shy 😬. It's easy to get caught up in the spotlight when you're on top, but Stafford showed us that even with some setbacks (like those 8 interceptions πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ), he could still dominate the season. His story reminds me that MVP isn't just about stats – it's about perseverance and heart ❀️. Can we all learn from Stafford's determination to stay focused on his goals, even when things didn't go our way? πŸ’ͺ

omg can u believe matt stafford won mvp by just one vote lol πŸ˜‚ i was on the edge of my seat watchin that game against seattle 🏈πŸ’₯ he played so well all season but that 1st place win is still insane i mean, drake maye had an incredible reg season too 🀯 and now it's gonna be a super bowl showdown between them what a thrilling season πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

OMG, can't believe Stafford snuck it past Maye 🀯πŸ’₯! I mean, both guys had insane seasons, but Stafford's numbers just edged him out by one vote... what does that even mean? πŸ€” Did the voters have a secret ballot or something? πŸ˜‚ Anyways, congrats to Stafford and Rams fans! Now we'll see how Maye performs in the Super Bowl on Sunday πŸ’ͺ.

🀩 I'm so stoked that Matthew Stafford took home the MVP award! πŸ™Œ He totally deserved it after an incredible season with those mind-blowing stats. 4,707 yards passing? 46 touchdowns? That's insane! 😲 And yeah, Drake Maye put up some amazing numbers too, but just one vote shy of taking it all? Bummer for him. πŸ€• Still, what a thrilling competition between these two QBs. Myles Garrett was the real MVP (pun intended) with that record-breaking sack fest πŸ₯Š and Christian McCaffrey's comeback story is truly inspiring. Tetairoa McMillan as ROY? Unbelievable talent right from the get-go! 🀩

🏈😎 I'm loving Matt Stafford's comeback season! 24 first place votes is impressive but Drake Maye had him beat in so many categories, I think he would've won it if not for the team performance πŸ€”... and can you believe Christian McCaffrey only played 4 games before coming back strong? Respect for the guy πŸ’ͺ🏼

I mean, I guess Drake Maye's season was pretty impressive πŸ€”. But come on, Matthew Stafford had like, way more passing yards and touchdowns πŸ“Š. And yeah, the Rams didn't exactly have the best NFC championship game loss 😐. Still, Maye's got a shot at that MVP award if he can take down Seattle this Sunday ⚑️. I'm not saying Maye couldn't do it, but Stafford's stats are pretty hard to ignore πŸ“Š. And Myles Garrett just took home the DPOY award unanimously - no surprise there 😎. Christian McCaffrey's comeback story is wild, though πŸ‘.

man that's crazy Stafford edged out Maye by like one vote 🀯 I mean we know Maye had an amazing season, but Stafford's numbers are just insane 4,707 yards is like whoa 🌊 and he still managed to throw some decent ints too which shows he's a real pro. But at the same time, Maye was leading his team to the Super Bowl, so that's gotta count for something 😏

I AM SO STOKED FOR MATTY ICE TO TAKE HOME THE MVP AWARD!!! HE HAD AN AMAZING SEASON AND REALLY STEPPED UP HIS GAME! I MEAN, 46 TOUCHDOWNS IS CRAZY!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT THE JUDGES WERE THINKIN' WHEN THEY GAVE IT TO HIM OVER MAYE, BUT MAYE HAD A FANTASTIC YEAR TOO!!! TETAIROA McMILLAN AS THE OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR IS SO COOL, HE WAS ON FIRE ALL SEASON!!! AND Myles Garrett is just a beast on the defensive side of things! CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!
