TEG Live Expands, Recruits Former Sony Music ANZ CEO Vanessa Picken

Vanessa Picken has been named global director of music strategy at Ticketek Entertainment Group's live entertainment arm, TEG Live, marking an "important evolution" for the company's touring business. The appointment comes as part of a major overhaul aimed at driving growth across various genres, with a focus on country, electronic, and other hot markets.

Picken brings a wealth of international experience to the role, having previously served as chair and CEO of Sony Music Australia and New Zealand from June 2022 until late last year. During her tenure, she modernized the company's organizational structure, enhanced its digital capabilities, and fueled new growth through experiential and licensing ventures.

Joining Picken at TEG Live is a team of high-profile recruits, including Sam Sharma as head of South Asia & Desi touring, Alex Kelsey as head of country touring, Chris Watson as head of electronic, Asia Pacific, Toby Leighton-Pope as global advisor from TEG Europe, and Clay Doughty supporting Kelsey in strategy. The appointments are part of a larger push to revamp the company's live entertainment arm into a platform business that empowers talented promoters.

TEG Live is expected to ramp up its ambitions in country music by opening a Nashville office later this year, focusing on artist relationships, touring partnerships, and long-term pipeline development. The move aims to strengthen connections between the US and Australian markets and capitalize on the growth of live music globally.

According to TEG's global head of touring Tim McGregor, the new-look TEG Live is designed to accelerate growth across established and emerging genres while supporting the next generation of live entertainment leaders. Major expansion plans are expected in Asia-pop and rock/metal, with further announcements pending.

The company has also recently announced significant success with UFC 325, becoming the highest-grossing indoor arena event in Australian history with A$14.4 million ($10 million) in ticket sales.

I'm low-key hyped about Vanessa Picken joining TEG Live! 🀩 I mean, she's got some serious chops from her time at Sony Music and it'll be sick to see what they come up with. That Nashville office opening is a big deal too - country music fans in Oz are gonna love that. And I'm curious to see how the new team is gonna shake things up, especially with all these high-profile recruits. Asia-pop and rock/metal expansion plans sound like a good start - fingers crossed they can bring some fresh acts to the scene! 🎸

just thinkin', another bigwig movin into a major live entertainment gig... vanessa picken's got some heavy hitters on her team now, like sam sharma & alex kelsey... wonder how much of that "platform business" is just code for tryna make more money off those artists. don't get me wrong, country music's got its fans, but seems like teg live's playin' both sides here - Nashville office = new artist relations, but also tryna tap into the asian market... and what about the actual artists? are they just gonna be treated as merchandise or what πŸ€‘

I'm like totally stoked about Vanessa Picken's new gig 🀩 at TEG Live! She comes with some serious cred from her Sony Music days, and I'm sure she'll bring that expertise to the table. The move to Nashville is a great idea, btw – country music is huge in the States, and having an office there will help them tap into that market. And let's be real, they need to step up their game on the electronic scene too... those festivals are where it's at 🎢! I'm also loving the focus on empowering talented promoters – that's gonna be key to driving growth in the live entertainment space. It's all about diversifying and expanding into new markets, if you ask me 😊.

just saw this news about teg live's new director of music strategy and i gotta say, very interesting move πŸ€”! bringing someone like vanessa picken on board who has experience in modernizing a company is definitely gonna help them ramp up their touring business. and opening a nashville office later this year to focus on country music? that's a smart play 🎸. can't wait to see how it all plays out, especially with the new team hires πŸ‘₯

OMG 🀩 I'm so stoked to see Vanessa Picken bring her expertise to TEG Live! πŸ’ͺ She's all about shaking things up and driving growth, which is exactly what the company needs to stay ahead of the game πŸ† #MusicToMyEars #NewChapter #TEGLive #VanessaPicken #Ticketek

I think it's really interesting to see TEG Live getting a major revamp like this πŸ€”. They're clearly recognizing that live entertainment is all about creating experiences and connecting people, rather than just throwing events together. With Vanessa Picken at the helm, I'm excited to see how they'll focus on artist relationships and touring partnerships – it's gotta be tough being an artist in today's industry, so if TEG can help facilitate some real growth, that'd be amazing! πŸ’₯ And hey, who doesn't love a good country music party? 🎸 Nashville is gonna get a whole lot busier this year...

omg i'm so hyped about Vanessa Picken taking over as global director of music strategy at TEG Live 🀩🎢 she's got such an impressive background and it's awesome that they're bringing in a team of high-profile recruits to help drive growth across different genres 🌎πŸ’₯ i love how they're focusing on country, electronic, and other hot markets - it's gonna be so interesting to see what they come up with 😁 and opening a Nashville office later this year is gonna be amazing for US-Australia connections πŸ’• meanwhile, TEG Live's already crushing it with UFC 325 πŸ†πŸ’₯ A$14.4 million in ticket sales? that's insane! πŸ‘€

πŸ€” I'm curious about this new appointment at TEG Live... Vanessa Picken's experience is super impressive, especially with Sony Music Australia and NZ πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡³. They really need someone like her to bring some fresh ideas to the table. The fact that they're setting up a Nashville office for country music is a great move - it's all about building those artist relationships πŸ’¬. I hope this revamp pays off for them, especially with UFC 325 being so successful πŸ†πŸ’Έ

omg I'm so hyped for this new move by TEG Live!!! 🀩 they're bringing some serious game changers on board and it's gonna be a wild ride! I mean, country music is already huge but adding more markets like Asia-pop & rock/metal is gonna take it to a whole new level 🌟. And Nashville office? πŸ’― that's like the ultimate power move for country music fans everywhere! Vanessa Picken is straight fire as global director of music strategy too, her skills are straight outta Sony Music Australia and New Zealand πŸš€ can't wait to see what TEG Live has in store for us πŸ’₯

OMG, can you believe Vanessa Picken is taking over as global director of music strategy at TEG Live? 🀩 I'm all about that evolution life! With her Sony Music experience under her belt, she's gotta bring some magic to the table. Country and electronic markets are gonna get a serious boost with Alex Kelsey and Chris Watson on board 🎸πŸ”₯

And that Nashville office opening is going to be EVERYTHING! πŸ’ƒ TEG Live needs to tap into those US artist relationships ASAP. It's all about growing those long-term pipelines, you feel? πŸ’» With Clay Doughty supporting Alex Kelsey, they're gonna crush it in country music 🀠

But what really gets me excited is the Asia-pop and rock/metal expansion plans 🌟 Tim McGregor's got some serious goals, and I'm here for it! It's time to level up TEG Live into that platform business, empowering talented promoters. That UFC 325 success is just the beginning πŸ”₯

🀯 another huge merger between Ticketek Entertainment Group and Sony Music Australia... yikes... think about all the artists who gotta deal with these corporate shakeups now πŸ€‘ 14.4 million is crazy, but what's next for UFC 325? are they gonna start charging more to get in? and a Nashville office? country music fans will be happy but this just means more competition in the market... πŸ‘

πŸ’₯πŸŽ‰ OMG u guys TEG Live just leveled up! 🀩 Vanessa Picken is the new global director of music strategy and I'm low-key excited 😏 about it! She's got the skills to bring country, electronic, and other hot markets under one roof πŸ”’. And can we talk about the team she assembled? πŸ™Œ Sam Sharma, Alex Kelsey, Chris Watson... they're all rockstars in their own right πŸ€Ÿβ€β™€οΈ! Nashville office coming soon and I'm all for it πŸŽΈπŸ’ƒ TEG Live is gonna be a major player in country music and I couldn't be more hyped πŸ˜†. They've already got some sweet wins under their belt with UFC 325 πŸ’ͺ, let's see what they do next πŸ€”! πŸŽ‰

OMG, a music industry power move! Vanessa Picken is like, totally rocking the global director of music strategy at TEG Live - they must be stoked to have her on board 🀩. I mean, Sony Music Australia and New Zealand? That's like, big league credentials right there! She's gotta know what she's doing, or else Ticketek would be stuck in the Stone Age πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. And let's be real, country music is about to get a whole lot more lit in Nashville - TEG Live better bring the noise (or should I say, the twang? πŸ˜‰). All these new recruits are like, bringing the heat...or at least, they should be πŸ”₯!

Man, I'm loving this news! 🀩 Vanessa Picken's got some serious skills under her belt, and I'm all about seeing country music get the love it deserves. I mean, Nashville office? That's a major move! 😎 And those team recruits? Sam Sharma, Alex Kelsey, Chris Watson... they're like the dream squad for TEG Live! πŸ’₯

But you know what really gets me excited? This whole platform business thing. It's all about empowering promoters and giving them the tools to take their careers to the next level. I'm all about supporting the up-and-comers in live entertainment, and if TEG Live is on board, I'm stoked! 🀝

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility, right? I hope they don't just focus on the big-name acts and forget about the indie scene. But for now, let's just celebrate this awesome news and see where it takes them! πŸŽ‰

TEG Live is getting a major facelift and I'm hyped to see what they come up with 🀩! Vanessa Picken's got some serious credentials under her belt, no doubt about that πŸ’Ό. The Nashville office move is a solid play, gonna be interesting to see how that shakes things up in the country scene 🎸. And those new hires? Firepower πŸ”₯! Sam Sharma's gonna crush it in South Asia and Desi touring, no question 😊. This platform business thing? Sounds like they're gonna shake things up for the next gen of live entertainment pros πŸ’ͺ. Can't wait to see how this all plays out 🎟️

Just read about Vanessa Picken getting the gig as global director of music strategy at TEG Live 🀩. Thinks she's got a solid background from Sony Music Australia and NZ, which is defo true! 😊 They're gonna revamp the country music scene in Nashville this year, hope they can bring some Aussie flair to it πŸ’ƒπŸ½. The new team looks pretty stacked too, especially with Sam Sharma on board for South Asia & Desi touring 🌟. Fingers crossed they can make live music a bigger thing here and beyond πŸŽ‰. Also heard about UFC 325 breaking records in Aus - that's wild! 🀯

ugh, great, another corporate exec getting a big title without actually doing anything new πŸ™„... I mean, what's next? are they gonna announce some fancy rebranding and expect everyone to be all jazzed about it? πŸ˜’ and what's with the Nashville office? just more of the same old country music elitism 🎸... i'm sure they'll just end up catering to the same old US artists and forgetting about all the amazing Aussie acts πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

idk about this... TEG Live is trying to be all over the place with these new hires πŸ€”πŸ’Ό. Like, Vanessa Picken comes from Sony Music and she's just gonna bring that experience to TEG? Not sure it's gonna translate to live music touring 🎟️. And what's up with opening a Nashville office? Country music is still a thing in the US, but it's not like they're gonna conquer the world... 😐. Also, $10 million from UFC 325 doesn't exactly scream "live music" success πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. They need to focus on one thing before trying to be a platform business πŸ“ˆ. Can't wait to see how this all plays out tho πŸ€”
