Tesla is reportedly testing Apple CarPlay in its vehicles

Tesla appears to be reconsidering its stance on smartphone integration, as the electric vehicle giant is reportedly testing Apple CarPlay within its vehicles. According to sources cited by Bloomberg, this major automaker has begun internal testing for the feature, which could potentially roll out in the coming months.

This shift marks a significant departure from Tesla's long-standing commitment to its proprietary infotainment solution, which doesn't require users to connect their smartphones. In the past, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had expressed his disdain for Apple, even offering to sell the company to Tim Cook during a tumultuous period in 2017. Additionally, Apple was accused of poaching key Tesla employees who were working on its failed "Apple Car" project.

The new development would see CarPlay integrated into a separate window within Tesla's existing software interface, ensuring it wouldn't completely replace the existing system. What's more, Tesla will be using the standard version of CarPlay, rather than the newer "CarPlay Ultra" that integrates with the vehicle's instrument cluster.

It's worth noting that Apple CarPlay may be experiencing its peak popularity at this time, as General Motors recently announced it would be phasing out support for both CarPlay and Android Auto in favor of a system built around Gemini. Ford's CEO has also expressed disappointment with Apple's latest version of the tool. With Tesla's decision to test CarPlay, the company may be trying to stay relevant in an increasingly fragmented automotive tech landscape.

However, it remains unclear whether this development will actually come to fruition, as no official comment from Tesla has been made on the matter, and Elon Musk has not spoken publicly about the report either.

I'm low-key surprised by this news ๐Ÿค”! I mean, Tesla's been super loyal to their own tech for years, so it's a big shift. Maybe they're just trying to stay ahead of the game with Apple CarPlay? ๐Ÿ“ˆ It would make sense, considering how popular it is right now. But at the same time, Elon Musk has always been a bit of a contrarian, so I wouldn't count on this being a permanent change anytime soon ๐Ÿ˜. Still, if it happens, it could be a major boost to Tesla's overall tech game...and user experience ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ป

so now tesla is like "oh hey, apple carplay, wanna be friends?" lol yeah right ๐Ÿ™„. i'm surprised they wouldn't go all in on their own system after all that drama with apple. seems like they're just trying to keep up with the cool kids who have carplay ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. also, doesn't this mean they'll be losing some of that exclusive "tesla thing" appeal? not sure if i'd want to get in a car where you can just plug your phone into the stereo system... what's next, having spotify play on the dashboard too? ๐ŸŽต

I'm loving how things are changing at Tesla! ๐Ÿš€ It's like they're finally realizing that CarPlay can't be beat ๐Ÿ˜‚. I mean, who needs their own infotainment system when you can just use your phone, right? Plus, it's about time they updated their software - I was starting to think I'd have to sell my Tesla back in the 90s ๐Ÿคฃ. It'll be interesting to see if this is a permanent change or just a temporary experiment. Fingers crossed that Elon Musk will finally calm down and make some smart decisions for once ๐Ÿ˜….

idk why they're doing this ๐Ÿค”, i thought tesla was all about being original like... but i guess times are changing ๐Ÿ“ˆ, and if carplay is gonna make it more convenient for users then i'm down ๐Ÿ™Œ. but at the same time, wouldn't it be weird to have another apple icon in our faces while driving ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘€? anyway, can't say much till they make an official announcement ๐Ÿ’ฌ

I think this is a smart move by Tesla ๐Ÿค”. With Apple CarPlay becoming increasingly popular in the automotive world, it's probably time for them to adapt and stay competitive ๐Ÿ’ป. I mean, even Elon Musk can't deny that their proprietary system isn't the only game in town anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚.

And let's be real, who doesn't love having a seamless smartphone experience in their car? It's just basic user-friendly design ๐Ÿ“ˆ. Plus, it'll likely give Tesla's customers more options and flexibility when it comes to integrating their phones with their vehicles ๐Ÿ“ฑ.

Of course, we don't know if this is just a test run or an actual plan yet โฐ. But one thing's for sure: Tesla needs to stay ahead of the curve in the automotive tech world, especially with General Motors and Ford making some big changes ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

Yooo, I'm telling you something is off here ๐Ÿค”. Tesla's always been super protective of its own tech, but now they're just gonna play nice with Apple? That doesn't add up, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜’. And what's with Elon Musk's past beefs with Tim Cook? Did he really offer to buy the company or was that just a clever PR stunt? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm also wondering why Tesla would wanna integrate CarPlay into their system in the first place - is it just a desperate attempt to stay relevant? โš ๏ธ The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced there's some sort of corporate espionage at play here ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Maybe Apple had something on Tesla and they're trying to make nice... but we'll never know for sure, right? ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿค” I'm surprised to see Tesla going back on its own infotainment solution. Back in the day, when my son was just starting to learn how to drive, his friends were all raving about the iPhone's ability to connect to their cars via Bluetooth. Now it seems like even Tesla wants a piece of that action. ๐Ÿ“ฑ I'm curious to see if this move will help them stay competitive with other brands that already have CarPlay built-in.

It's interesting that they're not going for the fancy "CarPlay Ultra" version, which adds more features. Maybe they just want to keep things simple and easy to use? Either way, it'll be fun to see how this plays out on my own Tesla (I've got one, haha!).

One thing I'm worried about is that if Apple's control becomes too dominant in the car tech space, it might stifle innovation. As a retiree who's seen my fair share of technological advancements, I know how important it is to have options and competition. But hey, only time will tell! ๐Ÿคž

I'm low-key shocked that Tesla is considering Apple CarPlay ๐Ÿค”. They've always prided themselves on being innovative and separate from the rest of the car industry, but I guess you can't fight an Apple revolution ๐Ÿ’ธ. It's interesting to see how this might affect their existing infotainment system - do they think people will still want that? And what about the potential impact on their software updates? ๐Ÿ“ฑ Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Tesla decides to roll out CarPlay after all ๐Ÿคž

omg can u believe tesla is like changing its mind lol they used to be all like "no apple carplay" but now they're testing it ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿš— i wonder if this means they'll ditch their own system or just offer it as an option... maybe elon's finally listening to his fans who want more compatibility with other phones ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ‘€

oh man, can u believe tesla is like, changing its mind on smartphone integration ๐Ÿคฏ! i was all about those proprietary screens they had, but now they're testing apple carplay ๐Ÿ“ฑ! i'm not sure what's going on with musk and apple, they used to be like, sworn enemies ๐Ÿ˜‚. but idk, maybe tesla just wants to stay relevant in the game ๐ŸŽฎ. it'd be cool if they made it work seamlessly tho ๐Ÿ‘. but for now, we'll just have to wait and see what happens ๐Ÿ’ป!

Tesla's gonna start playing by the rules for once lol ๐Ÿ™„. I mean, who needs a proprietary system when you can just use Apple CarPlay like everyone else? It's like they're finally recognizing that their infotainment solution is a total mess ๐Ÿ˜‚. And now they're testing it internally, which is great news for those of us who've been stuck with the stupid interface for years ๐Ÿ™ƒ. But let's be real, this move could also be a huge loss for Tesla's reputation as a tech innovator ๐Ÿค”. I mean, if they start catering to Apple's whims, what's next? Will they start selling iPhones in their stores too ๐Ÿค‘? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure - it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out ๐Ÿ“Š

just imagine driving a tesla with apple carplay ๐Ÿคฏ it's crazy how far elon's changed his tune lol... used to be all about keeping it proprietary but i guess they wanna play nice now... or maybe they're just trying to stay competitive in this crazy tech space ๐Ÿ“ˆ anyway, it'll be interesting to see if they actually go through with it and what the end result will be ๐Ÿค”
