The $500 billion beauty industry’s ‘green’ ambitions are a patchwork at best. And they’re falling short | CNN

Umm... this is so weird 🤯... like they're trying to go green but it's all super complicated? I mean, 95% of plastic packaging isn't even recyclable?! That's crazy! 🌪️ And what's up with the EU having stricter laws than the US? Like, shouldn't we all be doing the same thing for the planet? 🤷‍♀️

And don't even get me started on how expensive PCR plastic is... that sounds like a total barrier to entry. How are companies supposed to reduce their use of single-use plastics if it's just too pricey? 💸 It feels like we're just spinning our wheels here 🔄.

I'm all for companies and consumers being the driving force behind change, but isn't it time for some government regulations? Like, how can we trust that sustainability claims are true if there aren't any concrete standards to back them up? 🤔

💡 I think it's crazy that some beauty brands are just slapping "eco-friendly" labels on their products without actually doing anything about it 🤦‍♀️. Like, what's the point of reducing plastic if you're still using tons of virgin materials? 📉 And don't even get me started on the lack of standard regulations – it's like companies are just winging it and expecting consumers to believe their hype 💁‍♀️. I mean, we need some real concrete changes here, not just a bunch of feel-good certifications that aren't doing much to actually help the planet 🌎.

I gotta say, it's pretty wild that 95% of plastic packaging in the cosmetics industry is just thrown away without being recycled 🤯. I mean, come on, can't we do better than that? And don't even get me started on these so-called "eco-friendly" certifications - voluntary or not, they're basically meaningless if companies aren't actually following through on their promises 💸.

And what's with the lack of standardized regulations, anyway? It's like, I get it, some countries are more strict than others, but that shouldn't mean we just accept subpar sustainability standards 🌎. We need to push for more comprehensive rules and enforcement if we're gonna make a real difference.

I'm also kinda surprised that the EU is doing so much better on this front than the US - it's like, have you seen those 2,495 substances they've banned? That's some serious action 🚫. We need to bring our own country up to speed, stat! 💪
