The Ashes 2025/26: Latest news, views and video ahead of England's five-Test series in Australia

England's long-awaited Ashes series is finally set to kick off in Australia on November 21, with the three-match Test series taking place across four venues - Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney. The opening test will be played at the WACA-Ground in Perth.

But the Australian team is facing some uncertainty ahead of their homecoming series. Captain Pat Cummins has been ruled out for the first test due to a back injury, a blow that could leave the team without its top leader.

This is the 25th Ashes series between England and Australia, with the host nation having won the most recent Test series in 2013-14. However, the current campaign will be seen as an opportunity for both teams to make new memories and challenge each other on their home turf.

Cummins' absence could also signal a change in the team's strategy, particularly in terms of leadership. His presence has been crucial over the years, but with the Australian captain set to miss at least the first test, his deputy or vice-captain will take charge.

England, meanwhile, will be looking to break their 15-year hoodoo against Australia on their home soil. The last time they won a Test in Australia was back in 2011-12, when Graeme Swann took 4 wickets in the final innings at Adelaide.

The England team will look to bounce back from their recent performances abroad with a solid display in the Ashes series. Their bowlers and batsmen have been working hard on their skills over the past few months and are now ready to put them into action against Australia's top-quality opposition.

the aussies think they're gonna crush england 4-0? lol no way, england's got some tricks up their sleeve 🤔🏏 i'm thinking they'll pull off a surprise win or two, esp with all the hard work they've been putting in on the training pitch. cummins may be out but joe dixon's stepping up as captain and he's a solid leader, plus england's got some young guns like moeen & wood who are gonna cause some trouble for aussie batsmen 🤪

🤔 This is gonna be so interesting without Pat Cummins leading the Aussies... I mean, they've got a good squad, but someone's gotta step up and fill his shoes 💪. Maybe this is their chance to prove themselves? 🤞 And can you believe England has been struggling on Aussie soil for 15 years?! 😲 It's about time they break that hoodoo! 🎉 Their bowling attack looks solid, so I'm thinking it's gonna be a close series... 🏏👀

🤔 so aussie team is worried about pat cummins' back injury, thats okay but how long was he injured for? if its gonna affect whole series then why not just postpone the first test or something? 😒 and what's with england's 15 year hoodoo in australia? they've had some good players like joe root and jonny bairstow, shouldn't be that hard to beat aussies 🤷‍♂️

I'm so excited for the Ashes series, but at the same time, I don't know if it's going to be that great 🤔. I mean, with Cummins out, it's like the Aussie team is losing its head coach 😬. But on the other hand, maybe this will give them a chance to reboot and come back stronger? And England is always so underdog in these series, but what if they actually surprise us? 🤯 The pressure is on for both teams, but it's going to be epic either way! ⚾

🏏📊 so its ashies again, right? anyway, did u know that aus has won like 60% of ashies at home since 2005 🤯 meanwhile england is all about those 15yrs on aus soil 😅 but seriously, pat cummins out for the first test means some big changes in strategy... or maybe they'll just make a few tweaks? 💡 england's got a decent squad & their batsmen have been workin hard, so fingers crossed 🤞
