Olivia Kaiser's Unbelievable Journey as a Pregnant Competitor on 'The Challenge'
When Olivia Kaiser stepped onto the stage for the Season 41 finale of 'The Challenge', no one could have predicted that she would be hiding a secret - she was seven weeks pregnant. Kaiser, who had competed in four seasons of the show before, revealed during an interview with Variety that she discovered her pregnancy just a few days after filming ended.
Kaiser's journey began on the eighth episode of 'Vets & New Threats', where she met her boyfriend, Theo Campbell, also a competitor in the final. Kaiser claims to have conceived during a birthday party for Derek Chavez, which aired on August 13th. However, she didn't realize she was pregnant until after the finale was filmed.
As the season progressed, Kaiser struggled with exhaustion and lost steam halfway through. She attributed this to pregnancy symptoms, specifically morning sickness and fatigue. "The first trimester is exhausting and hard," she said in an interview.
Kaiser also shared a moment where she wondered if she might be pregnant during one of the challenges. After falling while competing alongside Will Gagnon, Kaiser experienced bleeding and thought it might be implantation bleeding due to her skinny frame at the time.
When asked about how she kept her pregnancy a secret from her competitors, Kaiser laughed, saying that Theo was not aware until they returned home and took a pregnancy test. It revealed that Kaiser was over three weeks pregnant.
Kaiser has been open about her experience as a competitor while being pregnant. She emphasized that childbirth is no joke and that pain like that can be overwhelming. Kaiser will now take a hiatus from competing to focus on her son, but she hopes to return in the future when she's ready.
"I'm a person who's driven by purpose," Kaiser said, "and I want to fight for him." With this newfound motivation, Kaiser is ready to take on new challenges and see where her journey takes her.
